Im going to do my long run early sunday (forced to due to LP Mary), think I'll watch you guys on-line whle I chill out over looking mirror lake in my dump of a hotel room at Northwoods..... Yep, I am racing wooooooooohoooo!!!!!! It's going to be a blast and first race of the year. Good luck to everybody racing Eagleman this weekend. Wish I could be there with you. |

Minus a three week taper, that's only 22 days of Build Training. YIKES! I'm a little nervous right now as I'm having a hip issue, but I am supposed to be doing a 1.5 hr run and a 100 mile bike on Sunday. The hip doesn't bother me on the bike, so I'm just nervous about the run. This is a cutback week for me, the 100miler is a tour I want to do, and of course, it is going to rain all day. Should be fun. I'm getting psyched, 1/2 IM next weekend and a couple more big weeks. |

We actually have an extra week before we have to taper! Keep the glass half full! |

How is it that they can ship that giant heavy box and have it get here that quick yet if I order some tri gear I end up waiting twice as long. Doesn't matter, looks like I'll be crushing my 100+ miler tomorrow now that I'll be POWERED up! The power of the IM brand in action. |

About as mandatory as any pre-race meeting. They won't be counting all 3000 heads!! It is probably good to go for the first time, but is not a requirement to attend. I did not attend last time as I am/was staying in Jay and got into town that day, checked in to get my race stuff, then headed back to the house in Jay to get settled there. I didn't feel like driving back and forth all day that close to the race so I just layed low with the family. This year I am coming in on Thursday so my schedule is a little more open to it. |

Regular 67 | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread Hey Folks, So I live in LP part-time and have a ton of family and friends there. Pumped to be doing the race this year for the first time. Anyway, just a plea from a local to please share the road when doing your bike training in the area. And no, sharing the road does not mean letting cars deal with it while you ride three across. You have to remember that Lake Placid is not the most bike-friendly area in the world and road biking in large numbers is a relative new phenomenon to the village, so you can't ride like you would in Boulder and just assume that people are content with riding behind a cyclist for four miles. Some of the locals are really getting testy about this, and it seems to get worse every year (especially after last years anecdotes about a group of cyclists not ceding to a fire truck). It sucks that there aren't decent shoulders on many of the roads (especially 73 between Keene and LP), but for the sake of goodwill and a future home for the race, please think about pulling off every couple of miles and keep in mind that no matter how much we feel like rock stars on race day, we don't own the roads. I'll do my part to try and calm down some locals - many of whom I will admit are short-sighted and irrational about this issue - but a little goodwill goes a long way. See you all next month. Can't wait. Peace, Hart |

Minus a three week taper, that's only 22 days of Build Training. YIKES! In 30 days I will travel from Japan to Maryland with a 5, 4, and 3 year old, 2 bags and a bike. The wife flies out a week later. I'm going to use the first taper week to train for travelling. |

I heard that parts of the course are closed for construction. Can anyone tell me if this is true and if so what portions of the course are closed? Thanks. The out and back is closed due to the bridge is out. Check out the actual IMLP website and they have information about it and possible way to go around it. ** IMPORTANT 2010 INFORMATION ** The bridge over the West branch of the Ausable River on the Haselton Road section of the Ironman Lake Placid bike course is currently being replaced. The project is scheduled to be completed in time for the July 25 race. Training athletes should, however, be aware that a detour utilizing Bonnieview Road and John Bliss Road currently connects to the far end of Haselton Road. In the event that the bridge project is not completed in time for the race, an alternate bike course will be posted. Please check this website for updates as the construction season progresses. |

I pulled something funky along the side of my knee (IT band) on my long run Tuesday, so I am icing, water running and praying. Ive had a pretty decent training run, but only have otwo more weeks of build before taper! BAD time for an injury! |

It looks like the conditions today were similar to 2008. It likes a lot of people crashed on the run due to heat. Sucks... |
