The women's race through 8.7 miles

RACETIME: 07:22

ERIKA CSOMOR (#53) continues to pull away from the rest of the women. Everyone is losing time to woman from Hungary.

Here are the splits behind the race leader at the end of the first lap:
* MICHELLIE JONES (#45) at 3:25
* TARA NORTON (#47) at 5:47
* HEATHER GOLLNICK (#41) at 10 minutes
* LINSEY CORBIN (#49) at 12:47

Looks like Csomor is pulling away with it. There is still a lot of race left, I hope Michellie can make it competitive.

PennState - 2008-04-13 5:00 PM I did notice that Aaron's 3rd bike leg was sig. slower.... wonder if he just pushed too hard too early on the bike?

not that siginificant considering the conditions.

This is what you train for and need to handle, it's Ironman.

Bonney gains more time

RACETIME: 07:31

Starting the third and final lap, JAMES BONNEY (#4) has opened up a gap of 1:10 on * TJ TOLLAKSON (#33). The men running the fastest, though, are Jozsef Major and Jonathan Caron, who have been clocking about 53 minutes and 55 minutes per lap.

If Major keeps that pace, he might actually take the lead before the end of the race.

Looks like Jacob is just a hair behind Melnuk right now; if he can hold on to his pace and finish this thing, he may KQ.

Dang, real sorry to hear about Marcy's swim and Aaron's walking now. On the flip, it looks like the rest of the DFW folks are going strong. Clint (jcbolton), Craig (dockshock1964), and Steve (Doughboy) are rocking their first IMs. Jacob, & TJ (zia_cyclist) are moving along nicely as well. It's also nice to see the times of the resident coach Mike Ricci real-time

Mike Griffin is still moving along nicely (look at that swim split). I'm hoping it's the wind that's slowed his 2nd bike split:

TOTAL SWIM

2.4 mi. (1:03:08)1:39/100m263

FIRST BIKE SEGMENT36 mi. (3:13:13)18.13 mph
SECOND BIKE SEGMENT37 mi. (5:32:40)15.92 mph
FINAL BIKE SEGMENT39 mi. (--:--)-- mph
TOTAL BIKE112 mi. (--:--)-- mph

If someone is in contact with the folks on the course, can you check on Steve?  He still doesn't show a 2nd bike split.

Bryan is running a 7:18, Jacob is at 7:51 pace through the first split. He's like 15-20min behind.
