Champion 5807 Henderson NV | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! I will run my 20min. required for my goal tonight. I will convert that to the miles and then any extra can go to help out. I am also 30 short on my swim time so that should be finished soon and I will convert to yards and then add that to help out. |

Member 28 | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Okay, I have 5.5 miles left to run and 30 minutes left to swim, so I'll definitely make my goal by the end of the week. Yay!! |

Expert 626 Las Vegas, NV | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Donto and all, So far, I have only two guy's that have injuries, and from that will need mileage made up by rest of team. Donto w/ plantar fasciitas - This injury places for run mileage assitance and nothing else. So Fresh So Clean - Blood infection/Surgery - Both swim and running needed If I missed anyone or anything else, please advise. For the boys, this game is still very close, and will be very interesting as to how it comes out. I've looked at the spread sheet, and we are in trouble if you don't complete. I can help with a fair amount of swimming with probably a tentative 5.18 mile swim in the lake. All logistics are finalized, and I'm mentally very excited and ready for it. Somehow, with all the swimming this month, I feel very much ready for it. Cheers. |

Expert 1023 Ft Gordon, GA | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! I have officially finished both my run and swim requirements as of now. Just got back from a 5.5 mile run that puts me at 33.8 miles (not too high as I was injured in late July and could not run the first 10 days of August). My pledge was 30 miles so I have an extra 3.8 miles as of now and will try to do one more run this week of 3.5 miles or so. I also have 12,050 meters completed in the pool which is 50 meters over my pledge. I will try to swim another 1200 meters at the end of this week to help with the guys swim as well. Only a few days left! |

Member 33 | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Ladies, I'm afraid I need some help on this challenge. I've been feeling lightheaded and dizzy for a couple days now so I'm headed to the doctor this morning. I have 12.75 miles left to run and 4070 yards on the swim. If I find out I'm ok, I'll keep going but just sitting here typing I feel like I'm spinnning in circles. I think a round of medicine is needed before I can tackle this again. |

Extreme Veteran 514 Perkasie, PA | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! I am in the pool tomorrow and Friday morning. I will try to expand my planned swims to make an extra 2,000 yards. As for running...there's where I am really "feeling" this challenge. But I will try to add a few more miles to finish strong! COME ON LADIES! IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO PULL AHEAD! |

Expert 640 Montreal | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Done with the run. Any extra can go towards the missing miles. I am planning to swim 3000-3500 yds tonight and again on thursday. I need 890 yds to swim to complete my goal. The rest can be put towards the team deficit. Step it up guys it's crunch time. SWIM LONG.........RUN FAR |

Champion 6107 Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red... | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Hey, ladies... I have only 2.2 miles left to run and then I'm 100% there, so I should definitely have some (like a couple) extra run miles by Friday to help out where needed. I'm a little more nervous about my swim...I'll do what I can there, but I'm most likely not going to hit 100% (let alone pick up someone elses!) FINISH STRONG! No matter what, this has been a great challenge! GREAT JOB! Kristen |

Veteran 264 Wilmington, NC | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! So a nice 2 mile open water swim this morning put me over my goal for the swim by about 2000 yards, so I can help out if someone is short. I'm on track to finish the run, it will be close but it will get done. 4 more days, lets get a good push to the end guys! |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Hey Ladies, I finished my swim up yesterday!! I'm swimming extra, too. Right now, I'm at 33,200 meters for the month (goal was 30,000). I should be able to get about 5,000 more in by the end of the month. Hope that's enough to put us over. Everyone get out there and get in as much as you can!! |

Expert 935 South eastern Ohio | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Ok ladies, I am 100% on both my swim and run for the Challenge!! the stats are as follows: Swim: 30,550 yds of 29,700 yds that leaves +850yds for the injured, I am going to be swimming every day this week. I am working on a pool deck this week so I figured that was a sign. So I'll have some more yds to addl Run: 94.05 miles of 77 miles that leaves 17.05 miles extra for the team and I also have to run some more later this week so I'll have a few more miles to add. I hope everyone is doing great. Now off to eat lunch and back to the deck for more fun tile work Chris |

Cycling Guru 15134 Fulton, MD | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Hmmmm, not to be critical but in every other challenge I've participated in any excess is just tossed out ....... I can understand injuries limiting workouts and having that person's stats reduced/eliminated, but this "donation to the cause" (on both sides, it is not just a ladies thing) seems a bit out of the spirit of a challenge ......... |

Thanks Rick for your perspective! I'm cool with helping out the injured. (This is my first challenge that I've participated in like this and it should not only be fun, but a challenge.) Again thanks for your thoughts! What do we need more for our injured folk? Running or Swimming? Rich Cyclingmaniac Edited by Cyclingmaniac 2007-08-28 1:37 PM |

Veteran 243 | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Ladies, I finished my run this am with 4.6, plus my race on Sunday (3.0). I'm running again Thursday, probably only 3 miles, but I'll have some miles to pitch into the inury pot! I've also only got 920 yds swimming left, and 2 more swims this week, so I should have at least 2000 yds 'extra'! I think we're going to do it! Let's keep hammering away all! Trish |

I tend to agree, and though I'd love it someone could kick in for my deficit in swim, I take full accountability despite the fact I had no control of my circumstances. That's the whole purpose of a challenge, right? Win or lose, I've had a good time. Worst case scenario, I dropped a pound or two which will help if I do need to wear that bikini. |

Expert 626 Las Vegas, NV | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! All right all, here is a quick reminder. As per the rules: - Any mileage above 100% is tossed out (that is for anyone and everyone). That being said, going over 100% would be highly encouraged as this would set a new personal best for you, and thus makes it a new goal for you down the road. You are competing against yourself. - Any mileage over 100% can only be used for the following people: ~ MuscleMamma - This has been applied on the girls side. She dropped out so 50% removed and rest is transfered to team. ~ Donto for Plantar fassciit.. - Only running can be applied as foot only affects running and not swimming. ~ So Fresh So Clean for blood infection and surgery - Both swim and run. If there was anything or anyone else, please bring up the issue. Again, this has been a lot of fun, and because some of you are at 100% doesn't mean you are done. Keep going as this new high can be used as a baseline for future challenges. Good luck and look forward to the end of the week. FOR YOU ALL WITHOUT INJURIES, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN, AND GET MOVING AND GET IT DONE. THIS IS REALLY CLOSE, AND ANYTHING CAN GO. Thanks Donto for keeping the mileage and yardage. Cheers. |
