I signed up to have all of the text/email alerts to go out to Facebook, family and friends.  Will that still happen or does the BT page stop that?

Everything will still work in addition to the BT page.

Rode part of the course in Hayden (where we are staying).  That English Pt Rd is no joke.  14% grade according to my Garmin.  And all of the downhills seem to have a turn or hairpin at the bottom which kills your speed.  A very technical part of the course.

Yikes. I think I may be slower on the swim and bike versus what I thought flying up here.  Practice swim this am at 7am was chop city compared to what I normally see.  I also drove around the course and the middle 20 miles of the loop looked hard and technical.  I need to run fast to have a chance at beating my goal so I may pull back on the bike a bit.

Can a IM vet help me through the following on race day.  Both of my 1/2 IMs were clean transitions where you had to pack your bag before leave T1 and T2.  What should I expect with the following:

Swim to Bike:

- Do you use the strippers?  My hands may be frozen so I probably will.

- Who takes my suit, goggles, cap as I enter T1?

- Does someone hand me my bike bag or do I get it?

- If I am not changing, do I still use the tents to put on socks, shoes?

Special Needs - Bike:

- In the event I need it, what mile marker is the stop?

Bike Course:

- What mile markers will have bottles for water and powerade?

Bike to Run:

- Who takes my bike, shoes, helmet?

- Does someone hand me my run bag or do I get it?

- Sunscreen application by anyone?

Special Needs - Run:

- In the event I need it, what mile marker is the stop?

Special Needs Bag - Bike: tire, tube, C02, power bar, gatorade, water

Special Needs Bag - Run: socks, shoes, power bar, gatorade, mountain dew, water, 5hr energy

I swam at 2pm and got chopped up pretty bad too. I wasn't that cold after 3-5 minutes but those waves rocked my world so I hope the water settles some by Sunday. Hoping to see y'all at 8.

All right. The Iron Horse tomorrow around 3:30. Hope to see some of you there for adult refreshments! Maybe I'll debut my bedazzled visor so I'll be easy to spot.

Sorry that I was late to the swim.  Tricky when you try to coordinate 11 TPR Racers and a bunch of BT Racers.  Was nice, though, to meet a few of the beauties from BT.

My Nemo fin (left arm) was not doing great in those waves.  Overall, it was cold and I was not totally comfortable, but it was tolerable.

Mike...BTW, my goal time is to be done early enough to be drunk by midnight.  So, anything between 12:45 and 16:30.

Hey guys just wanted to drop in and say good luck to all you racers. Also I read on slowtwitch of some bike thievery of age-groupers bikes going on today. I don't have many details but from what it sounds like someone is running off with bikes in CDA, so DO NOT LEAVE YOUR GEAR UNATTENDED!!!. Enjoy the day Sunday it will be a great one for sure!

The strippers will give you back your suit then you will hand all that stuff to your helper in the tent.

- Does someone hand me my bike bag or do I get it? They will get it for you. I usually yell my # out in case no one sees me.

- If I am not changing, do I still use the tents to put on socks, shoes?  Yes

Special Needs - Bike:

- In the event I need it, what mile marker is the stop? 60ish - out at the Higgins Point turn around.

Bike Course:

- What mile markers will have bottles for water and powerade?  Approx. every 10 miles

Bike to Run:

- Who takes my bike, shoes, helmet? Bike is taken by a catcher at dismount. Shoes and helmet go into the tent and are put into the t2 bag after the run stuff comes out.

- Does someone hand me my run bag or do I get it? Handed to you

- Sunscreen application by anyone?  Yes but hurridly. If you are really prone to burn, may want to make sure you are covered.

Special Needs - Run:

- In the event I need it, what mile marker is the stop? around 14 in the library parking lot on Mullan

Special Needs Bag - Bike: tire, tube, C02, power bar, gatorade, water

Special Needs Bag - Run: socks, shoes, power bar, gatorade, mountain dew, water, 5hr energy

You should know that it is highly unlikely to get the stuff in your SN bags back. The bags are hauled back in from SN and dumped into boxes and those will be in the park Mon. AM but they bags are in no particular order so you have to go digging. May want to rethink the shoes.

Strippers?  Up to you.

You will take all of your swim gear into the T1 tent and place it in your T1 bag after you change. They'll ask your number as you enter the T1 area and a runner will grab your T1 bag for you.

Yes, you will change in the T1 tent even if it's just shoes, helmet, etc.

Bike special needs?  Out at the turnaround at Higgins Point (about mile 8). Obviously, not available until the 2nd loop.

Bike aid-stations:  about every ten miles.  All aid stations have Ironman Perform, Powerbar gels, water, PowerBars, and I believe bananas (can't remember for sure).

Bike to run:  same as T1 with the exception that a catcher will take your bike as you cross the dismount line and re-rack it for you.  Enter the changing tent, get your run gear out and stuff all of your remaining bike gear in the bag.  You'll drop your transition bag at the tent exit, same as T1.

Sunscreen:  yes, there will be volunteers to slather you in sunscreen as you exit both T1 & T2.

Run Special needs:  should be right around 13.1 miles, in the same general vicinity of T2 exit.  To be sure, check the athlete guide, course maps.

Relax-No need to worry, you'll be amazed at how many volunteers are there to help you at every step of the way.

Argh! We finally got the RV up and running and now we are stopped on the pass waiting for avalanche control to finish rock blasting! At this rate we'll be lucky to get there in time for athlete check-in! HBDC.

FYI - Cathy (Achen2Iron) pointed out Run SN today while we were riding. It'll be at Mile 14 in the parking lot of the CDA Library after you cross Sherman heading back out to the neighborhoods.

See you all at the Moose in the AM

Hey everyone, I've was able to get the page finished that has all of the BT folks that are participating.  I based it on the last speadsheet that was on page 188 of this thread.  I'll add the run and bike splits as soon as I know them on race day.  If all goes well the results will be updated automatically.

The url is: http://www.racedaytracker.com/BT/IMCDA.aspx

My wife is going to get the update texts from the regular RDT site, but she had a good question. Where along the course do they have timing mats? Is it just after each phase or are there some every so many kilometers along the course? Thanks,Brad

Usually the mats are:

Swim Exit
T1
Bike Mile 34
Bike Mile 90
Bike Finish
T2

I have no idea on the run because the course changed this year.

Great to meet peeps at the (chilly) lake swim!! Hope it worked out well for everyone. I found myself wishing for a point-to-point swim with the wind... it was much more fun swimming towards shore than out to the buoy! Ahhhh well, we all will shareh the same temps and chop, so it's all good. I'm gonna splash around again tomorrow.

Have a great day to all! So happy to be here! Wheeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
