Veteran 311 Irvine, California | Subject: RE: Triathlon Dating Thread NRG42 - 2012-04-12 9:56 AM I am not sure what it is so evil/shallow and wrong to care about a man's career, success and stability. I want him to care about mine too. Shows that I know how to work hard, have a brain, been a responsible adult with my finances, and I care about having money when I am ready to retire. I don't see any of these being a bad thing!!!
I don't think it's all that bad. I mean, I kicked my @$$ to put myself through college, and had some obstacles I had to push my way through to get where I am, and it's hard for me to really want to be with somebody who has never even tried to apply themselves or ever worked hard to get something they want out of life. That doesn't necessarily mean I need a girl that makes a lot of money; just means I want somebody who's TRIED to make herself happy and didn't just settle for what gets her by in life. On a side note, in my line of work I see people every day that don't know how to handle their finances, and can't believe that at the age of 32, I have more saved for retirement than 99% of people who are retired or getting close to retire. I see how much it hurts them, and never want to be like that when I'm their age, so I also understand your point there. Nothing wrong with that! Edited by djake80 2012-04-12 12:47 PM |

Champion 11989 Philly 'burbs | Subject: RE: Triathlon Dating Thread We could talk about money again, and why so many women have salary requirements for potential suitors. It was bad enough when they put right in their profile "Don't bother contacting me if you make less than X", but I learned to read between the lines. Words like "driven" and "successful" and "better things in life" became red flags. Nobody wants to date a broke deadbeat, but a bit more tact would be welcome. Hell, I qualify for the six figure cutoff and it still bothered me. Edited by mrbbrad 2012-04-12 1:21 PM |

When you DO get that date, and you really like the person (chemistry! conversation! hot-ness!), some people believe you should not be so "available" all the time. Others think it's cool to go out with the person 3x in the first week or what not. What say you, daters? |

Hell, I qualify for the six figure cutoff and it still bothered me. I fully understand wanting to be with someone who is driven or not a slacker. But when someone will compromise the kind of person they want just to meet the money or looks requirement to me says they are looking short term so it really matters what we individually want in a relationship and from a SO. It’s the same as the guy who puts up with the mean girl just because she is hot. He is asking for what he gets. |

Some I like in moderation, some I don't like at all, some I can't wait to see again. No way to blanket statement. It's tough to train a ton AND go on 3 dates / week anyways though, so it's not like I get much opportunity to try it. |
