WOOHOO! And congrats on the PR!!!

Awww ... not even as a long cross training day? For fun? No?

Between the race fees and travel it really is not economically possible this year.  Wish I could though.....

Congratulations Judi!  That is awesome.  I TOTALLY hear you on the expense.  It is amazing how expensive this sport is, isn't it?  The race fees and travel are just salt in the wound.  Super cool on the qual though, and if you did it this year, you can definitely do it next year!

I'd like to get in on this challenge, but don't really know any exercises apart from crunches and planks. If anyone would like to draw me up a workout routine, I'd be happy ( ? ) to jump right in.

Plus there is someone in the challenge who teaches and she is posting her workout each Monday in the forum.

I'll thank you now on the understanding I will be hating you in a couple of days time when I can't get out of bed.

Don't be silly;P

This is why I needed the challenge.  I haven't been good about doing them.  I've been naughty, actually.  I totally needed this for accountability.  I don't expect the look of my abs to change that much, but I'm really hoping my back will feel less fatigued on the bike and that it might, maybe, possibly, hopefully, help my swimming.  I have really been trying to think about it swimming and it seems to feel different. It makes my lats hurt more, which seems to be a good sign? I think.

Hey manatees!  I've been reading and trying to stay caught up with all the goings on but not posting because it feels like there are 500 things to address and I don't want to forget any.  I love the Google+ idea but hate how my voice sounds so I don't think I will be joining in.  I love how some of us have expanded our stalking each other to Facebook and Strava, how fun!

Yep. I never knew how many day to day activities tax my abs.

You know, I love my parents....but seriously, I am feeling like a terrible daughter right now, cause I keep thinking how much I DON't want to be responsible to do all the everyday care... >sigh<

Last night, I got a call from Sleep Train Arena security (our NBA venue, she works for the Sacramento Kings occasionally) telling me my mom had fallen and hurt herself pretty bad. She was taken to a occupational hospital center to be checked out cause her hip was painful. So I called her and checked in. She assured me she was 'just fine' and that the Kings people would bring her home, bring home her car, etc...I said fine and called my dad...He was insistent that he would need her car THIS MORNING, and he was all clear to drive again (thanks to heart stuff and operations, he was barred from driving recently)...I told him the car would be dropped off and that I could get him to pick up meds today. At that point after being assured all was well, Clint and I went to the movies (see? terrible daughter again) to see "Man of Steel"). As the credits rolled, I found 6 phone calls had missed me! It turns out that Mom's boss had called with an update--she apparently had possibly broken her hip and was taken to a closer hospital, and Dad called because he couldn't find her cell! I called him back and we went to get her car, then called her boss and checked in with him, then came home...I haven't heard anything new as of yet, but it looks like she will be off her feet for awhile, and Dad may or may not put off some procedures to insure he can drive. I told him to do what needs to be done and I would take them where they need  to go...but we'll see.

I am worried about them, as they are both very stubborn, and I want to make sure I can be there for them, but by the same token, I feel really awful as I am somewhat resentful of possibly having to drop everything to take care of them. ug.

Wow - such a good day so far.

Got to home to find that my Packet had arrived!

And just did our first hangout on Google +.  Darren was able to answer - video was spotty as he was on his phone, but the audio was pretty good.  Only a slight delay.  Diggin' the British accent bro.

Monica jumped in a lil late.  Her video was working great -but the audio wasn't working, nor were her speakers.  She couldn't hear us, and we couldn't hear her.  Maybe next time.

Now - have to figure out how to use my new Toy and really, really want to go for an OWS.

Ab challenge update.

I have made the decision to not do abs the next few days.  They hurt to much, and my race is more important to me right now.    I would like to be able to swim on race day.. LOL

I will resume the ab challenge on Monday.  I am stoked for this challenge.

Crazy thunderstorms came in this evening on my way to the gym--the pool was closed so I did my core work (thanks, Lesa it really hurt today) and went to a yoga for athletes class.....I must say that the pigeon pose is sheer torture and when it is modified to holding the rear leg up it is worse than torture.  I wanted to curse the beyotch.

It sucks when we have to do stuff like that - I feel so guilty and it's constant, I live in a different hemisphere from my parents!

You are doing a great job - so you missed some calls - that could happen anyhow, don't beat yourself up.  Do what you need to do but be sure to look after your needs as well.

Hugs

I am a little upset not to have been on the hang out.

In fact i'm really upset Cry  But it's work time for me when you can all do it so it will never happen.  I'll get over it.

Having another mofo of a day at work.  This job is giving me more stress than it's worth.  I'm not happy.

I'll catch up with the last few pages later. For now, I'm tired. I got a lot (granted this is a lot for me) in today: hour trainer, 20min kbells, 30min swim, 37min treadmill. 3hrs of pool/sun/kids in between. Now I'm waiting for DH to deliver dinner. Kinda hungry since I forgot lunch and ate a piece of cold veggie pizza at 4:45. Surprised

All right, after 4 hours at the hospital, I FINALLY know what is going on! --and Mom is okay, kinda. I went in at about 2 pm, and figured I would eventually know what was going on. Of course the nurses just kept saying, "oh she's in recovery and should be back here soon....at 5:15, they told me "well, she is being moved to a new room where they can monitor her better" WHAT?!!? What happened?!?!? FINALLY at 5:40, I got to see her and find out details....she broke her right trochanteric neck (skinny part of the upper thigh bone that is between the long part and the head of the bone that fits in the hip socket---see? I did learn something in osteology!), and they needed to put two screws in it. She also developed a fever, and here oxygen levels coming out of the surgery were low. When I got to see her, her temps were better, and as long as she took good deep breaths, the O2 was okay (or if I made her laugh as I found out). She is in good spirits, and be in the hospital for the time being. Tomorrow, her main boss and the executive director of the Kings will go meet with her and make sure things are okay too (it is their costs--worker's comp, but they actually do really care about her). Dad is okay, and behaving himself, and now I just have to wait another week to take a 'relaxing' weekend....come to think of it, I may take a "sick" day from work this week....just to decompress....the last week has done wore me out!

Oh yeah, according to Mom, she was sure she just had a charlie horse....a charlie horse that requires surgery and screw installation, but a charlie horse nonetheless. I have always known that my family possesses an amazing tolerance for pain, but seriously, you break a bone and think its a twisted muscle? My mom rocks.

I call those sick days mental health days.  i'm having one maybe two next week.  Sometimes I need to just take a breath and get my head straight!

I'm glad your mum is doing okay and able to laugh.  Good luck!

Yeah, I call them that too. I'm thinking Monday, after all, then I don't have to work with my jerky coworker too much next week...Might as well REALLY make my sick day worthwhile.

Oops, should have said something. Probably the same system that hit over here. Thunder was incredible, like it was inside the house when normally I don't hear much of anything. Of course this was about an hour before normal wake-up time too.

Yeeps!  Your mom sounds like my mom...I'm sure mine would do the same thing.  Glad to hear she is doing ok now and that your dad is behaving.  I hope your mental health day is relaxing!!  Oh, and what does your mom do with the Kings?
