Extreme Veteran 456 Western Massachusetts | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses Goddesses, fear not about me: I'm actually at 80% as of this morning (not the sorry 68% he shows) and I'm good to get in my remaining 24 miles in the next week. I'm just going to scare you, though, since I'm off-line all next week, incommudacado, not able to log - until JULY 1! So the final results won't be final until I get a chance to log, okay? Gwendal |

Elite Veteran 1817 Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses OK, Goddesses - it's crunch time. When you look at the actual miles needed to finish this up and get everyone to at least 100%, this is VERY doable. Gwozdzilla and Grodi Jo both sound really confident they can get it done - and they've got the most miles left to crank out. If they can do it, so can you. Come on ladies, we can win this thing if we put our best effort forth. We cannot let the Boneheads win over just a few miles - LET'S ROCK AND ROLL, GODDESSES! RIDE RIDE RIDE!! DON'T GIVE UP! NO GODDESS LEFT BEHIND! LET'S DO THIS TOGETHER! |

Sorry to have let the team down. Please ride a couple extra miles for me if you get a chance. I am with you all the way! Thank You. You haven't let anyone down - if you're hurt you shouldn't ride - no one wants you to ride injured. I think the bear tosses out the highest and lowest percentages, if I recall correctly, so you will just get bumped off the total anyway. It's all good. You can still be a cheerleader, right? |

Elite Veteran 1817 Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses Hey Goddesses - because the Boneheads are droning ON and ON and ON and ON about sandbagging, and whining about the (hand to forehead) UNFAIRNESS of it all.....I'll take the 'recommendation' of one ever so helpful Tbone and check back with my sister Goddesses. Do you think I am sandbagging and being unfair if I don't raise my goal? I never in a million thought that I would ride my bike this much after only doing 201 last month, or I would have set it higher to begin with. Should I go for 500? My only fear is some kind of hideous equipment malfunction on my century tomorrow, but that can't really be controlled. I'll take your recommendations. |

Elite 2553 Tucson, AZ | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses Tania - I wouldn't worry about it, and would keep your goal the same. We've already shown them enough mercy by letting them kick one of their injured teammates to the curb, since they just couldn't pull together like a team and put in extra miles like the Goddesses have done. One has to wonder what their team percentage would be if they hadn't done that. And for our injured Goddesses....don't worry! Those of us that can still ride will put in extra miles for you! |

You signed up for the century after the challenge started (I think) and did you not recently admit to the new found love affair with your bike? That's why you'll be so far ahead. What's their deal anyway??? It's likely you'll be dropped from analysis because you are rocking the bike. (they are just jealous) You are a bike goddess. You are training for RAGBRAI. You and Grodi Jo will smoke me there. I'll be the one you pass (and also the one at the free kegs). |

But after reachng your goal in about 2 weeks of the swim challege, then reaching your goal after about 2 weeks of the bike challenge, don't be surpised if the sandbagging word pops up, especially since you are all up in the clubhouse running smack about the number of miles you have ridden |

Champion 5495 Whizzzzzlandia | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses I lubed my chain last night... (no, that is not a euphamism for ANYTHING) and I purposely rode 2 miles around the neighborhood to make sure everything was shifting smoothly and the lube was well distributed. So, I'm now at 259.11/270 or 0.95966666666666666666666666666667. I've got 16 or 17 miles to ride on Sunday @ the race, so that will put me over the top.... I have a group ride on Monday, which is another guaranteed 25 or so.... and I intend to ride with my husband at least once whilst on vacation next week. So I've got your back, Raku! It's all about pacing ourselves anyway... Steady goes it! I will get myself to the library to post my miles on Friday July 1, (Maybe I'll ride my bike!) since I will not have internet access from work while on vacation. Never fear, we'll pull this one off yet. Whizzzzzzzzzzzzz |

Expert 997 North Central WV | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses I have been thinking about this challenge and something about going over 100% really bothers me. It seems to me that the challenge was all about meeting a goal. In that case, the winning team should really be the team which has the largest percent of members achieving their goal, not how much you can go over your goal. I have no idea where that puts us relative to the boys so it isn't a complaint about where we are currently standing. I know that I chose a mileage that was going to be difficult to achieve given that I have a big race and couldn't sacrifice my other two sports in the name of cycling. I carefully calculated, based on my regular riding schedule, how many miles I would be able to do by the end of the month and added a few more as a challenge. I am proud to be reaching my goal but all of a sudden, it seems to be more important to go as far over the goal as possible. That just doesn't seem quite right to me. And, through no fault of anyone else, I am too competative and want to beat the boys, and I don't want to let the girls down so I feel as though I have to keep riding during the 4 days of the month left after the 1/2 IM this weekend even though I will have reached my goal. So, achieving my goal doesn't seem to be so important anymore and that takes something away from the whole challenge. Wow - what a whiney little wench I am today. Time to adjust the attitude. I think the problem is that I banned alcohol for this week - I am going through withdrawal :-) I cannot wait until Sunday night. |

Buttercup 14334 | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses Malgal, if you attain 100% of your goal you should be proud of yourself. I know I will be when I hit 100% of my goal. The goal of the challenge is to make better cyclists and triathletes of us. The competition with the boys just makes it a bit more fun (for some). The boys, bless their hearts, are hellbent on recovering their masculinity after 2 losses to the women and, frankly, I hope they do. If we win this 3rd challenge, we will still lose because our dear, male partners in training will have lost something vitally essential to their manhood and that would be sad. I enjoy the smacktalk but am enough of a woman to know that men need to be Men. |
