Hey there team. I missed this whole weeks worth of posting (and a lot of training, too) having to be out of town with crappy internet service. I caught the early girl scout cookie talk, Anyone up to recapping?  My weekend plans are going to be a whole mess of yard work and my long run either Sat or Sunday. Oh ya, and taking today to recover from over-serving myself last night.

Artemis - 2010-03-05 10:57 AM Anyone have fun plans for the weekend?

I've got a long run scheduled for Saturday and a bike/run scheduled for Sunday.  Looks like the weather here should be great for that this weekend!!

I have to take Cole to an appt tomorrow morning and then riding in the afternoon for about an hour and a half.  First outdoor ride of the year!

Sunday brings church and I think that is it.  Nothing too major.

Well Robin your team admitted defeat 1 day into the challenge but you are playing the month out anyways.

Other than that - not much else!

He's just muck raking, his new job (maybe it would be a good status descriptor).

There's always something coming along. Definitely St Patrick's Day; not sure if there will be anything special inbetween.

MDHillSlug - 2010-03-04 9:56 PM OK, I worked up a team roster. I had a hard time figuring out what background picture should go with East, beast, wind, March so let me know what you think. If it's not showing up here as a picture you can see it on my log page.
I REALLY like the picture... BUT -- did you notice the name of the OTHER team? Here's their team table: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp... That said, I'm going to put it on my blog now.

The West team isn't very original, are they?

Oh yeah - you guys knocked off some 90s pop band for your title - that is original right? Wink

Who are the Beastie Boys?  Some 'classic' hardcore punk band in the 80s?  I believe there are several people on this team that were BORN in the 80s and their parents probably didn't approve of this band as part of their nighttime music ritual...

Was it the 80s?  I thought the 90s but maybe late 80s.  I know I didn't know of them during my school years (grad in 84)

Early to late 80's.  Although I wouldn't know.  I graduated in '82...

Beastie Boys were late 80's... wasn't their re-make of Aerosmith's "Walk This Way" their first big hit?  I was never a fan.

It was Run D.M.C. who did a "duet" with Aerosmith for "Walk this Way."  Music Video magic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B_UYYPb-Gk

Check out the crowd shots around the 2-mintue mark.  Can you say "wall of bangs"?  Awesome!

Holy CR*P!  How did I get Run DMC and The Beastie Boys mixed up? <blush>  And I was an 80's teenager!  I guess I spent too much time listening to Duran Duran, INXS and The Pretenders.  Now I have to go visit my parents to see if they still have my "FRANKIE SAYS RELAX" t-shirt!

Okay - 2 hour trainer ride is done (after a 3 mile run).  Not fun.  I need to get my bike into the shop for a tune up and then I am outside.  But, I have been indulging in some little Nestle chocolate eggs that I dip in crunchy peanut butter!  I think I'll go have one right now - they're small!  Happy Friday!

A coworker brought doughnuts in. A healthy eating plan didn't stand a chance.
I got a 20 minute run in this morning. I'm supposed to do 30 minutes on the trainer tonight, but I don't know if I will. I won't get home from work til 7:30, and I still have to pack for my flight and I need to get to bed early. I'm meeting my family at the airport at 5am. BUT, I will be running in nice warm weather this weekend. And eating grits. Cheese grits.

45 degrees!  And sunny!  Got in a nice 6-mile run in the tropical weather.  Just when I start to hate Mother Nature she gives me a day like today and I'm forced to forgive her for all the bad days.

Thanks Bill...I wear the name with pride!

MDHillSlug - 2010-03-05 8:29 AM I did a 2.6 mile run this morning. It may not sound like much but I think it's the longest I've done since I shut it all down last July because of Achilles issues. I'm trying out some new running shoes that feel quite a bit different from what I'm used to so I did 0.7mi in the new and then 1.9 in the old. For my next run I'll switch that around.

Way to go!
