Expert 1694 Illinois | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread Dinner at Salute sounds great. You might want to bump it up a few more, I didn't see Ashleigh and her family on the list. That would add 3 which puts us close to 20. Thanks again for coordinating this. |

Nice, funny last year when he ws checking his bike in on race morning the local racine resident who was doing T1 security,h checked for his race band toverify e could enter. As some people gasped, as if.., he kindly showed the guy his bracelet and went as if he was entry 1798 instead of number 1. Also post race he was taking pictures and cheering those coming still coming in hours after his finish. |

The topic has been covered , but thought I share this as well From Sharone at Well-Fit Triathlon and Training, Inc.
Although the amounts of electrolytes need vary from one person to another, starting with the protocol suggested above will help you hydrate and fight the many symptoms that will slow you down.
What's an electrolyte? |

Any tips on where to park in addition to the sites mentioned in the Guide? And how quickly do those fill up? |

The festival hall, where you check in on Saturday, is south of the transition area. Kinda silly, you check in to get race packet and then you have to check your bike in at transition about a mile or 2 north of there. Last year there was a huge lot about 1/4 south of the transition that I parked in. I dont think you had to pay. It filled up, but at 530 or whatever there was no problem. There was also a fair amount of parking on some of the side streets around transition. Swim start is 1.2 miles from transition and I dont know about parking up there. So if you park by transition, theres no way to avoid the walk. Personally, I would park nearer transition and finish than nearer the start. After finishing race, I would not want to walk another mile or so back to my car. |

Extreme Veteran 612 Chicago-ish | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread I thought if I procrastinated posting in this thread I could pretend that I'm not actually doing this and be able to avoid the panic attack over why on earth I'm doing this. Note to self: that's a dumb plan. Somehow this taper matched up with that time of the month and I'm a basket case. I'm debating switching hotels and I'm not sure how crazy that is given that I'm already a nutjob. I have a reservation at what might possibly be the crappiest motel in Racine (Riverside Inn) due to the aforementioned procrastination. So what's better the night before a big race, staying in a dump where your nerves keep you tossing and turning for an extra half hour because you're closer to the start or staying at a nice place where your nerves keep you tossing and turning then having to drive half an hour to the race? IE, should I stick with my current reservation or switch to someplace in Pleasant Prairie or by the airport? And am I too late to get in on dinner tomorrow night? Hey, at least I registered for the race on time. |

Hey, at least I registered for the race on time. I'm staying at the Comfort Suites by Milwaukee Airport, so I'm 20 miles from Racine myself... if you decide to switch hotels and want to go north (i know it's very counter-productive, but by the time I decided on a hotel, that was all that was left with my DH's points), come stay at CS! We can be wrecks together!! heheh |

As for the hotel I would go by the airport, if you know where you are going 30 minutes by car is not bad. I lived in downtown Milwaukee last year and had plenty of time. Tonight is the key night for sleep anyway, which, is why I am babysitting!I thought if I procrastinated posting in this thread I could pretend that I'm not actually doing this and be able to avoid the panic attack over why on earth I'm doing this. Champion 5495 Whizzzzzlandia | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread Good Luck Everyone!!! I'll be out there suffering with you all... and Craig Alexander. It seems as though every time there's a hot race, a Kona champ shows up. Chrissie Wellington was present when I melted in Kansas last year. Good times. If you see me, say hello! I know some of you, but not all of you, so if I see you, I'll stop ya. Don't know what time we're getting into town, but I think we are planning on a little OWS tomorrow after (or maybe before?) we check in the bikes. Hoping for a huge expo because I'd like to buy some new goggles. FWIW, Allison, we are staying @ the STAYBRIDGE Suites up by the airport. In a town called Franklin (or Franklinville?) Looks nice. I'd rather stay someplace nice that's a little further away... but that's just personal preference... Stay hydrated. Follow your nutrition plan. If it's hot, slow it down a bit on the run. Other than that, have fun!!!! See you there! |
