Congrats on your awesome race, Sam!!!

February's totals:
Bike:20h 44m  - 353.3 Mi
Run:13h 49m 06s  - 102.84 Mi
Swim:12h 01m  - 27100 Yd
Snow Shoveling:                             00h 00m  -00ft

Biggest month of biking and swimming ever!

Had a good swim this afternoon, although I was dreading this workout, I managed an 8:05 for 400 (2nd half at T pace-for me that means hard effort) which I am certain is a personal best!  At first I sadly thought it was 9:05, but all of my following 100's were 1:55's so it must've been 8:05!  I guess all of my lessons and drills have helped.

Now that the Olympics are over, I should be able to get my much needed sleep.  Hope you guys all had a terrific weekend.  I still have one more day...biking tomorrow.

What is this game you speak of?

Oh THAT ONE. Wow amazing. What 2 penalties? My girls were a little worried for me when the US scored with 38 seconds left.
I screamed when we scored the overtime goal. My 4 year old said "Dad, you don't need to be so loud!"

Flipped through closing ceremonies. If anyone saw the opening ones, the did a pretty funny thing at the start with the hydraulic arm to start the closing. And Katrina LemayDoan as well....mmmm. One of the tris i did this year, she was staying at the condos we stayed at. Her kids were playing with our girls in the pool. She was speedskater. And let me tell you, she has quads like tree trunks.

and a totally hot chick. I was checking into a hotel here in Toronto for a conference where she was a guest speaker. She was in line right in front of me. We had quite a nice little chat. I didn't realize how short she was until I met her. More a Suzy size woman. I had always thought she was very tall.

kickitinok - 2010-02-28 4:37 PM Sam -

Does anyone have any random advice on indoor tris which don't allow you to change clothes? Anything I should know about the swim (people in front of me? - how should I pass them if this happens?, etc..) bike - should I place a towel on the seat because my bum will still be wet? run - eh...really don't have any questions for the run...

I haven't done an indoor tri of any kind as of yet but I would suggest the following technique when passing a swimmer in front of you. Swim up until you can touch their toes. (drafting.) Once that close take two very strong strokes and firmly grasp their ankle. On your next down stroke very quickly and strongly yank them back and under you and then while they are struggling to breathe swim over top of them. Once you have successfully completed this technical pass don't look back just focus on your next target

You klazy, Rob!

Kyla and fun - thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll just wear my tri top and bottoms as my swimsuit is not enough support for the run. I'd bounce right out of that puppy.

go with swimsuit not the tri top.  you'll do very well.

Wait a minute! If the US scored with 38 secoinds then we won, because we also scored with 24.4 seconds left! US 3 - Canada 2! Give us the gold! Unless your 38 seconds  are in metric...hmm....

Here are my Feb totals.  A little lighter than they would have been because I was sick which reduced one week for me.  In March I need to get more time on the bike.  Probably a few more weeks of skiing here in Central NY and then I will be able to work some longer bikes and runs in on the weekend.

February's totals:
Bike:7h 18m 23s  - 125.83 Mi
Run:9h 09m 48s  - 66.79 Mi
Swim:5h 20m 20s  - 17900 Yd
Skiing:17h 00m
Snowboarding:3h 00m

Yes I was converting it from CDN seconds to US seconds.... You guys thought you were out of time, but there was tonnes of time left when you scored. 38 seconds is alot of time.

I think all these tough indoor intervals I have been doing all winter are really going to pay off come spring (whenever that is)

Went out for a 2 hr ride with a BT'er yesterday and did a 36 mile ride with quite a few rollers on it and never took it out of the big ring.  I was able to rocket up all the hills sometimes not even dropping pace.

Felt great,

LOL, it's amazing when a training plan actually makes you faster/stronger.

Holy cow... I am about has far behind as I am in races.  I have read "most" pages.

Suzy- I am digging the bike.  Looking sharp!  I know that you will be very happy on it, and like others said--- Very patient!  Good for you.  Hopefully you are not that patient when you are racing trying to pass everyone !

To all the Canadians--- I can not in good faith of the American Hockey team tip my hat to you guys since we already beat you once in the Olympics.  Seems unfair to our boys, but a great game!

Everyone's Feb:  Very nice totals... I won't even put mine up there in comparsion to most... The only thing I had going for me was almost 20000 feet of hills...

I hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend.....  RP and I were out this past Weds/Thurs and here are some pictures that great adventure.... A nice snowshoe into a hut that had: Solar Lighting, Gas Stove/Fireplace, and a purty outhouse.... We just had to hike our stuff in/out and melt snow for eating, drinking, and cleaning.  We had winter conditions, and couldn't see Rainer, but I put a picture up of what it looks like on a clear day!  (I like this "None Training Stuff" !!)

Naw you have to remember that Trevor is that crazy uncle from far away. also it was still earlier in the game in Alberta.    There is after a two hour or so time difference.

Wow those pics look fun.  I would love to get into snow shoeing sometime it looks quite fun, if only I had some mountains to make the scenery worth walking

I scratched off boarding last night to give my legs some time off.  Good bike effort tonight to start off the month on a good foot.

If anyone did not catch in the Gear reviews, I put a new post up on my blog with my experiences with some different Hydration options for anyone who may be looking at changing how they hold their liquids.

you should cross reference that with the ST study they did where they compared the aero-ness of those setups.

They included most of the ones you did + nothing + camelback.

Surprisingly the aerodrink was the fastest, I think then followed by a single bottle on one of the tubes, can't remember which.  Both of those were faster than having nothing there, guess it pushes air around the bike.  I'll see if I can dig that up.

if you need to come off your bars to grab a bottle then you have concerns greater than which bottle is more aero.

Heh!  Actually YOU will have bigger issues than me if your riding around me if I don't come off my bars.  I am not the most graceful or coordinated person in the world.  There is a reason my bike's name is Black & Bleu!!!   Therefore, my vote is for Podium Quest.  I love mine.

That reminds me I need to buy another bottle.  I put the dogs in the garage one night and they got a hold of it and chewed it up. Ouch!

Thanks for posting the link with that super hot runner very informative thread about the marathon trials.

Robert - congrats on your race!  Not knowing fatty, I can still picture the hat on his head (or maybe a big bobber full of beer!).  That girl texting...sounds like a major fail to me.  Might have given you a little smile if she tripped while doing that!  Congrats again.
