There are 10 people on this call and I bet 5 are doing something else.

LOL, always funny on calls like that when someone gets busted for not paying attention.  Had it happen to me once or twice.

in my meetings it's usually 9 of 10 are doing something else.

I am sure you are the one person engaged in the meeting, right?

SSMinnow - 2010-06-16 9:22 AM Hi Kids....Today I nearly met my maker.  I was in the middle of a two car accident while finishing up my threshold ride.  Cliff's note, I was heading down the road and a guy was turning left in front of me, no problem, plenty of room.  Next car behind is also turning left, I slow down not sure if she will wait for me, she does so I keep going.  Next thing I know the car behind her is swerving around her on the left going about 60mph with blue smoke blaring from her exhaust.  She missed me by about 6 inches, but in the process hits the car turning left.  She claims her brakes failed, yet she stopped not 30 feet from where we all ended up. I was doing my best to stay upright while going into the ditch and jammed my ankle and of course that still hurts now. Waited over 30 mins for the cops to get there to give my account of the story before soft pedaling back to the car.  It's the closest I have ever come to dying on the bike and am still a little shaken by the whole thing.

OMG!!!  That is crazy, I am so glad you are okay.  I hope your ankle is just a little bit bruised.  Gosh, it is always a wake up call that we are SO VULNERABLE out there!  No matter how careful you are, crazy things can happen.

Oh and you're lucky you GET TO put up with me

Back to business!

LOL!! My husband is always playing Hearts, Solitaire, or Scramble during his conference calls!!

And Suzy, holy $#!*!!! That is so scary and I'm extremely glad you were able to come here and post us about it. I hope your ankle is OK for your big weekend? Be careful -- sometimes flutter kick (or dolphin kick too) can strain an already sore ankle, so take it easy on your swim if need be. Take care of you!!!

Just this week I told two friends that if, god forbid, something should happen to me on the bike, please don't say, "At least she went doing something she loved." I told 'em they could say I was doing something I LIKED... but riding my bike is not how I want to go out!! Ha!!  We can't be too careful out there. There are the drunks, the texters, the cell phoners, the distracted mothers, the happy-go-lucky-teenagers , the @$$holes... Every day I'm thankful to return from a ride unscathed.

kkcbelle - 2010-06-16 10:16 AM I'm not posting leg pics -- not my strongest body part. Right now, with my training, I'm thrilled with my lats, arms, tummy... Yeah yeah yeah, pics or it's not happening. Sorry, fellas.

I am bursting my buttons this morning, just dripping with pride for my kiddos!!! Mommy brag time!! They did their first swim meet last night. My daughter is a spaz -- strong as an ox but needs some serious technique work, LOL! She'll get there -- I'm going to do some special stroke work with her this weekend if the schedule allows. But the brag is for my son!! If anyone knew this kiddo 1-2 years ago, you would not think he's the same kid. He is still one of the tiniest 10-year-olds you'll meet (58 pounds!) but he is just coming into his own. Last week at a mock meet he did a 50 free in 1:01. Last night he cruised to a :48 for the 50 free!! He looked awesome! And he definitely had the eye of the tiger in his events, especially the 200 free relay. This is a kid who has struggled a bit athletically (he came out the end of the baseball season hitless -- but he never gave up, drew walks [and did swing plenty], worked hard, and loved every minute of the game. He nearly broke my heart at his first couple of swim practices, because he had never swum that far and you could tell it was so HARD for him. Last week he did a 900-yard workout! OMG!!! It's just so amazing to see your kids find success within themselves. I can't wait to wake him up and tell him his time (the runner whisked it away last night before we saw it)!

OK, back to your regularly scheduled triathlon programming...

GOOD LUCK RACERS!! Nothing for me this weekend, other than a good race rehearsal on Saturday morning. And lots of list-making.

Kyla, so awsome about your son!  Especially when they have their successes and you see the big smile on thier face..gotta love it.

I am not racing any...bike still only operates in mid and small cog after 5 trips to lbs.

Yes, Tony I will be doing Hagerstown..hopefully!  Have only the mid and small cog still so there is no way I will be able to do Ft. Ritchie with the climb up 431. I was going to go to the ows there this weekend and do some of the ride and run afterward but since the bike does not work I can't.

Ft. Ritchie is going to  be a beautiful venue...wish I could do it!  The OWS practice is only 5 bucks with kayak support and drinks and bathrooms.

Uh, sure, yeah....I'm the engaged one!!  Too often I get invited to tech meetings because it has some small impact on my job.  The good stuff usually comes about the same time people are ready to move onto their next meeting!  Those 2.2 minutes are why I stay on the call!

I come back from vaca only to find great pictures of certain members of our MG??! I love it, but I feel like a lot of "people" are not living up to their end of the bet!?

WHY?

And I sort of think Sam signed us up for the win, so where are her legs?

Yes ladies I started off w/ a big roar and ended w/ a wimper.  Life has been a bit hectic lately.  And I think I angered my coach.  LOL Not really but I've had 2 12+ hrs. weeks of training and this week is 13+ so I'm struggling to keep up w/ workouts, kids, and work.

The house is a wreck and I hope I've paid the bills!  But alas my 2 workouts are done for the day so I will get Tony's help posting some leg shots.

I have a nutrition/diet question.  Has anyone read up on research of the relationship b/t insulin and HGH (naturally occuring)?   I stumbled across a few articles written by a triathlete about the relationship and timing of food.

Basically decreasing the amount of carbs you eat throughout the day until by dinner not having any.  And consuming most of your carbs around workouts.  It interested me b/c I've been told similiar things although not explained so scientifically.  I would love any other info that anyone has to share.

are their references?  start there. if none listed email the authors of the articles and ask them for their sources.  review the sources.  if they are peer reviewed then go find the journals.  if you don't have access to the journals let me know.  if their sources are not peer reviewed then i wouldn't pay *that* much attention top them.  *that* meaning ok something is out there, but i need to dig deeper.

Speaking of *.   *pats on head*  vegas kim.  wait for vegas, dear.
