Anyone else notice and appreciate the fact it's not 100 f-ing degrees anymore?--well, unless you're in Texas.

It actually rained here today - although 3 inches of rain over night on the concrete dirt didn't do a whole lot!
And was below 100 f-ing degrees!

Ran my first half marathon race today... The Hottest Half.  Finished in 2h12m and change.  Made a couple dumb rookie mistakes... lessons learned.   Had an awesome time though and look forward to the next.   Will post RR later...

Ooooh, good for you!! Read about that in Runner's World recently and thought it sounded purely torturous!!

Danskin Tri was here today, not sure how Miss Julia did... hoping to hear from her at some point!

I'm here! I had a good race this morning, with perfect weather and a lovely swim in the cool, clear water of Lake Washington. What a treat!

Great job Brent on your first half!

Great job Brent! Want to hear about the "rookie mistakes" and the smart decisions in that RR!

Julia--a little scant on details??   How are you?

Well like everybody has pointed out, I made it three my big honking volume weeks.  I'm amazed how good I feel after a rough patch earlier in the week. Think it's due to keeping up with my nutrition on my rides/runs, eating way more than normal afterwards a shot of whey protein before bed and at least 8 hours when there. Now it's about reduced volume (Woo-Hoo!) and a few high intensity efforts on the bike.

Stay tough IM Canada Peeps!

PS.  Happy Birthday RP!

Great job to my fellow MG peeps out there - Suzy, Brent, Julia and Roni.  I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Tony and I had another nice weekend in Luray.  I had a fun and good race.  I'm very happy w/ my performance.  Here's the RR.  I hope everyone has a great Monday.

No longer a virgin on the bike, first crash, and hopefully the last (but I doubt it).

Hit my first car on ride today, driver took a right hand turn right in front of me, I was on the white line and it was wet and slick, applied the brakes and kept sliding, didnt want to wipe out so let out the brakes and hit the back of the car, luckily was only going about 12mph, hit the back of the car with my left brake handle and squished my hand a little, then was able to steer along the right side of the car and stay on the bike. Only bent the my hand brake a little...this could have been a lot worse.....

Guy slowed down and passenger asked if i was ok, they never stopped, I hope they have lots of scratches on thier car.

going to order my road ID now...Smile

Frustrating... Did they speed ahead of you so they could make the right turn and not have to wait for you?  Glad your OK.  I would however have reported them...

Julia, you are a STINKER!!

Let's see, she raced with the elites and placed 4th -- among the elites AND overall. That's 4th out of 2036 people. Averaged almost 21mph on the bike and 6:51 on the run.

I'll take Julia's "good race" any day!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad I didn't make the drive for this race this weekend, sounds like the weather sucked.  Considered it earlier in the year ......

Thanks, guys. I was super happy with my race, especially the run. I enjoyed every minute of that run. It's been awhile since I've done a sprint, and I'd forgotten how much they hurt. I am sore sore sore today!

Bummer about Steelhead. People must have been really disappointed.

Great job this past weekend to all the racers....

I have been on a couple of MG's in the past two years, but this group is truly impressive and inspiring had to come back and be part of the excitement and fun.

Bruce, very glad you're ok.  Sounds like that could have been much worse.  Glad you didn't let your temper get to you like I did :-)

Julia,  I'll take an autograph too.  WOW!! You're smokin' fast

Suzy,  It's taper time.  Very proud of you.  You've been putting in some amazing training volume and effort.  It will all pay off soon.

Brant,  Congrats on your first 1/2 mary.  I too would like to hear the details.  Way to go!

I had to go back to work today.  My thirteenth year of teaching middle school age students.  I lost my sanity years ago, but having it was overrated anyway.  Now to figure out how to fit in the hours of training around the hours of work.  Today, I got it done. Laughing

Someone from my tri club just posted a link to this.  It's pretty cool and more multi-functional and stylish than the hippity hop thing I've been dragging around behind me all summer! It would be especially handy for those of you who do ows in busy public places.
