Regular 97 Grosse Pointe, Michigan | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Done. My swim goal fell short due to circumstances that hit in the middle of the month, but I surpassed my run goal this morning by 3.45 miles, so if that can be used by those on the injured list (females), go for it. Here are my results for August. Thanks for organizing this, it was a lot of fun. Run: 7h 10m 27s - 38.45 Miles. Goal was 35 miles, GOAL MET. Swim: 6h 55m - 16899.89 Yd. Goal was 25,000. Expert 626 Las Vegas, NV | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Good morning all! I starting to see a few people thinking that they are ready for a race this weekend because of the challenge. Remember ONE CRITICAL THING: Because the challenge is over tonight, it is not a reason for you to start relaxing and stop training. This challenge was created so you could start a new beginning, and if you have a race in September, at least continue training as you were during August till your September race or October race. You may surprise yourself at how well you can do, and probably will PR. Then set some new higher standards of fun training. This was also to show you what you can do. I know I surprised myself at how I could of set a higher goal. I just did not know how high. It was higher than anything else I've done in years, but August just kicked my rear in gear. Hell, I lost almost 10lbs (will know when I weight in this Sunday). Again, congrats to everyone, that you did or did not complete your goals. At least, you gave it your best to get there. Congratulations. And remember, you can still put in more mileage today if you need to. Great job all. |

Expert 626 Las Vegas, NV | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Here are my stats as off this morning: Running: 76.22 miles Goal: 65 miles (Most I have ever done in my life in a month time frame; literaly) Swimming: 53,100 meters or 58,070yards Goal: 40,000 meters or 43744yards (Goal was the most I have done in years "well since my collegiate days in the 80's/early 90's". At least in the last decade. Supassed my goal, and now know what to place in the future when getting ready for an Ironman in summer '08) + I have a 5.19 miles open water swim later today with boat escort. Total for this months swim should be 61450meters or 67,200 yards. Please apply extra to our injured swimmers. Again, thanks all for the challenge. Cheers. It has been fun, and look forward to the final results. |

Extreme Veteran 514 Perkasie, PA | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Awesome news from everyone on their goals! No matter who has to post new azzatars; we all won! Run goal was 40 miles -- actual was 40.20 Swim goal was 17,000 yards -- actual = 18,032 Please apply that extra 1,032 yards to MM if she still needs it. I wish I could have contributed more to the injured run pool, but this amount of running was a real stretch for me. Heck, this amount of everything was a stretch for me! Challenging yourself is a good thing. Thanks everyone!!! |

Master 1381 Clifton, NJ | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! mosc57 - 2007-08-31 9:16 AM Got another swim in this morning. Not counting out the rest of the day because we're headed to the beach. However, I can not finish my run due to the ear infection and the associated dizziness. I'm disappointed in this because my run times were improving and my first Triathlon is just weeks away. I am proud of my swimming because just months ago I couldn't swim one length of the pool without stopping, and now I feel very ready for the swim portion of the race. you have much to be proud of, o sister of mine! rock on! you're gonna kick that ear infex's azz and come back strong for the tri in sept, no worries! |

Extreme Veteran 787 Glendora, CA. | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! I was done with the challenge and now prematurely done for the season! I reached 53.67 miles on the run (goal was 40). This was by far the furthest I ran! I reached 25,375 yds (goal was 20000). No the furthest, but my times are or were starting to come down thanks to the challenge! Unfortunately, I have "destroyed" my rotator cuff. Ligaments torn, pulled muscles, and calcium build up (tendonities) all in the rotator cuff. The impingement of the rotator cuff was probably what initiated the onslot of the severe pain on Tuesday. I see the surgeon next Friday.....my doc said we are bypassing the PTs due to the severity of the tears, inflammation, and crystallized calcium build up in the muscles around the rotator cuff. Not that we are going to have to, but ......... gals, I hope that if the men have to wear speedos, I can still where my sling......around my arm to keep it immobilized. (OK .....bring on the comments.....I set ya up.....now you can knock them down! LOL!) By the way, my excess 13.67 miles (run) and my excess 5375 yds (swim) can be used towards are fallen comrades that were injured before the end of the challenge. Rich Cyclingmaniac |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: August - 2nd Annual Boy's vs Girls Swim / Run Challenge !! Hi everyone! Thanks so much to Donto and devouahy for a great challenge and of course the fab fem team. Oh and the boys for laughs (hopefully some more to come ). I'm at 30,150 for swim yards (+150 for the injured ... not much but so many of my swims were ocean OWS) and way over for the run ... 70 on a conservative estimate, meaning at least +20 for the injured. |
