It's your imagination. They did improve it though. Now there is an extra step. Before you could click the inspires number and it would take you right to your inspires. Now you click the number and it opens a drop down and then you click inspires. There's nothing like improved efficiency for the end user! Fixing perceived issues and non-issues is what we do best. |

Maybe i was just dreaming, but i thought this morning that the inspires were noted on the bar next to the envelope thingy, so I knew I had them. I didn't have to go to the drop down bar. But i admit I could be misremembering |

Re: shoe rotation. Never done it. I buy a pair and wear them for about 400 miles. 350 miles is when they start visibly wearing in the top/toe area, and hurting my knees, but I try to get to 400 miles. I buy an off the shelf orthotic as well, and use them for about a year each, or until I can visibly see they have flattened out. Never had issues with "breaking in" shoes. Unrelated, it's a snow day here in Atlanta. I literally could not drive out of my neighborhood - I tried! The massive hills had multiple vehicles stuck this morning, and unless you had a 4x4 vehicle, you weren't getting out. First time working from home. It's nice! Haha I get it! I lived my whole life in Kansas, land of a legitimate all four seasons (plus wind, that's the year-round nuisance) and I used to run in the snow, cold, everything but ice. But somewhere along the way, I decided I didn't like doing that! I do a lot of treadmill runs these days if it's not 40 degrees or warmer, but I have to say I am surprised at my first winter in the "south." I really thought Atlanta was warmer than this in the winter months. Maybe this is an anomaly year, but it's been almost like a Kansas winter this year. Lots of below freezing temps and two measurable snow falls so far. Ick. I think think that 1-2 snowfalls, an ice storm and back and forth temperatures is kind of normal for Atlanta. Hmm everyone is saying it's a super weird winter, at least for snow and ice (I think yo yo temps are pretty common everywhere). We've had more snowfall than Denver this season. And schools are closed for the THIRD day in a row this week from the... cold I guess? Everything has long since melted, so parents are so confused why schools are still closed. People just like to complain. And yes, they close schools here a lot. Do you have countywide schools there? That's the issue here. Desegration led to countywide schools and lots of busing. Geographically larger districts and more busing means that there are more closures due to varying conditions in outlying neighborhoods. Two snow days per year -- http://www.cbs46.com/story/34184935/how-often-does-atlanta-see-snow. Average so far! From that article: Average snowfall
Between Dec and Jan we've already had 8 inches! Not average if you ask me! And have had 3 snow days just this week. Not sure about the schools. I just know that ALL of metro Atlanta schools are closed for the 3rd day in a row, I guess due to TWO un-passable roads. Two. I meant average in terms of number of snow events. The accumulation varies a lot in the SE and depends on the the Gulf. I still think think that 1-2 snowfalls, an ice storm and back and forth temperatures is kind of normal for Atlanta. Raleigh and Atlanta actually have kind of similar winters. |

I did elliptical for 5.4 miles. Yesterday did some upper body work chopping up wood for my fireplace. lol I was finding ways to work without actually running in the cold. But seriously tips for this? Coffee has always been my go to but I don't want to rely on it. |

I'm not sure what to suggest and I'm not sure if your post relates to working out before work or training for both a marathon and HIM, so I'll do my best to answer Also, If you hit the "quote" button of the post you are responding to it will post the original post and your response, so we all know exactly what you refer to in your post. Hope that makes sense!! As mentioned, most of us get our workouts in before work. It does make for a long day, but with limited time we make the accommodations! Sleep is very important, so you may have to start going to bed a bit earlier than you're used to. I know I do!! I'm in Florida, so I don't have to deal with weather cold enough to stop me from running outside, but, I'd suggest the treadmill for days that you can't get out. I understand that means working out before work and you don't like that or have a hard time doing it, but really, there aren't too many options: work out before work, work out after work! You'll have to pick which one works better for you. Heck, many of us do both, especially when training for long course triathlons. I don't think I'll touch the which race is more important question - your marathon or HIM, only you can answer that. Once you decide, if you have specific training questions, I'm sure the manatees will be glad to try to help! |

My favorite is pre-Kaged but I've tried a few others that work pretty well too. Is this what we're discussing ?? Yes it is. How my varying work schedule can get me back in the groove. I had a PT tell me that I should take a mini-running break and do strengthening exercises for my Achilles tendon. There is a local marathon training program group that I can run with and I am hoping I can get some real time advice. I hope me starting 1.5 months earlier this training season to ease myself into where I want my fitness will benefit rather than burn out. The down side of being a slower runner is that I feel like more mileage training wise is needed in order to increase speed or efficiency. |

I understand the Floridians aren't accustomed to the cold weather but 40 degrees sounds wonderful to me! We've been in an extended cold streak. Current temp is 22 (feels like temp of 10), lows in the low teens tonight, wind chills in the single digits. We had an oddball 61 degree day last Friday and it was WONDERFUL but then we were right back into the 20s. We've been really back and forth here in Raleigh as well. We had a week below freezing (very unusual for us) and then a few really nice days in the upper 50s. Now it's snowing but it's supposed to be 60 on Sunday.
Really wish y'all would adopt decimalisation and switch to Celsius. My head hurts . What's next, the metric system????? That is a slippery slope my friend! |

I will not be participating as often as I would like to, as I have a lot going on in my personal life. My ten year old son has just been diagnosed with Autism, and I am trying to figure out what it means for me, for him, for our lives in general. He is very high functioning, but I need to find ways to help him in the areas he needs help. I also need to spend more time with both of my kids, which is challenging for me (and I feel guilty about it), as I work full time and study. But we are managing, and I am making sure we are a happy family I will definitely try to come as often as I can, especially on Fridays to cheer up all the racers And I promise to come more often as soon as things get easier. I wish everyone a wonderful weekend! Stay strong! Marysia |

The neighborhood is nice but open space is better. I've been able to increase my walking by 5 min./week. PT says I can start easing into running when I can walk an hour. Sometimes you work 1-9, other times, you have different hours. Is that the case? If so, maybe we can get Dave and Dareen in here to share their strategies. I believe that both of them have "nonstandard" work schedules. |
