Congrats Dan - awesome race!

go Christina!!!!!

I'm home safe and sound and pleased w/ my race.  Not sure where I ended up since I left before any results were up.  My son raced this morning at another race.  Apparantly he took a header on his bike, trashed the rim but got up and finished.  He seems ok just a little road rash on the shoulder.  Super proud of him getting it done.

Happy that you are happy! Glad Drew is okay, did he put his shoes on the correct feet for the bike??? Crazy kid.

Hope everyone is doing Awesome. I haven't had much time to be online and keep up with everyone in the last month. Work has really gotten in the way of EVERYTHING including training. I have been keeping up my running for my first HM and making 90% of those runs. Only been on the bike twice in the last month and went swimming 4 times in the last two weeks to prep for a Sprint Race that happened today.

My last sprint I had a goal of under 1:30 and didn't hit it due to a side stitch and a few other things.. Today with reduced training and no goal in mind I did my local sprint in 1:29:39 WOOHOOO

Race Report here. Sorry for the short post, I kind of feel bad dropping in hanging up a race report and running away. But it has been a tough summer with my training buddy in China and working lots of hours. I am not done with this sport however. I am only just getting started.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=265588

Hope everyone is doing great. Keep up the hard work and I hope I can catch up with everyone soon.

Congrats to Christina, Dan & all the other racers!   Busy time of year!!!

I di my splash-n-dash.  Pretty disappointed with my swim.....really know what I need to work on!! 1:06 for 2 miles.  Happy with the run, 52:xx for the 6.1 miles, including transition.  Not bad after a brutal, windy 80 mile ride yesterday.

and, the GIANTS won in 11!!!   Yea!!  ....better than a nap.

One fool done.  Cloudy, light drizzle and temp of about 65 for the duration of the race.   My time was 2:35:xx which is a new personal best for me by about 9 minutes.   I am not sure if I broke 50 min on the run, but my last 6 km were all sub 5 (garmin problems...well, garmin operator problems).  More details to follow after they post the results.

Good luck to everyone else racing today.

Wow ...nice job Dan, great temp for a race.

Did my Ride to Conquer Cancer ride this weekend, wow, it was much harder than I was expecting!

The first day started at 5:30 am in Brisbane and went out to a country area where all the water for Brisbane is stored in big dams. I haven't been out there before and it's really hilly.

We camped overnight then rode back Sunday.

Large numbers of riders were walking up the hills and I was especially pleased that I managed to ride up them all keeping a nice steady cadence, one hill was 12% and riding that - standing up most of the way was a challenge.

Someone had a Garmin and they recorded 8829 feet elevation gain over the 238km's (118km ride Saturday, 120km's on Sunday).

Anyway, great ride and $4.7million raised for cancer research.

Great race, Dan! Taking 9 minutes off an Oly is hard to do, even tougher when you are already so speedy. NICE!

^^ What she said. a 9 min PR is huge!!

^^^ That, too!! Late to the party, which seem to be happening more often than not these days... but CONGRATULATIONS DAN!!!!

And Christina and David and Sam and Spanky and Rob and Linda and and and... am I forgetting anyone?? Wow, busy weekend around here!! Great job, folks!!

Just ordered the book Foundation by Eric Goodman and Peter Park for core and back pain.

Anybody know anything about it (probably should have asked this question before I ordered the book---duh)

I have had back pain on and off since I was about 17 from car accidents, stretching helps and chiro and massage. When I do everything right I feel great. This book seems to take the approach of strengthening the back....what a concept :0

Looking forward to see if the exercises will result in a new me....well at least the back of me.

Congrats to all the other racers, Dan, Doug, Chris, Sam, Linda and Rob!

Sam- I hope Drew is alright.

Linda- Sorry you're not too happy with your race.  There's always another.

Dan- Nice PR!

And thank you all you guys for your support!  I thought about all of you out there.  I'll give a full RR in time but overall here's the best of;  Pre-race- crazy nervous, almost puked a few times.  swim- breast stroked to the first turn bouy but from there on consistent and good swim.  Bike- the hills, oh the hills, didn't train them nearly enough.  Run- drank way too much on the bike and had bloated belly. Was staying strong and consistent then a ref came by and told me severe weather was coming in fast and they were telling people to turn around so I'm about 2.5-3 mi short on achieving a full 70.3. (unsure bc my watch stopped working around the midpoint) To say the least, I'm extremely disappointed.  Regardless, I had fun out there and it won't be my last.

BTW, Kim- HUGE TY for the T2 tip!  Worked PERFECTLY!

It's actually Ukranian.  My dad is from Latvia.  After having a last name like that, you don't take a boring and common English last name when you get married.

Awesome job this weekend racers!  PRs all over the place.

Sorry about the shortened race Christina - that had to be a little upsetting.  Good news is that you were almost there and know that you were going to get it done.  Can't worry about things you can't control.  On to the next one!!

Hope the knee feels good Birdy!

Nice job out there, Christina...looks like you faced each challenge and overcame, finishing strong and consistent.  You will be so ready for the next one, each one is such a learning experience!  Darn those storms, but good that they were being cautious.
