Subject: RE: Tan #86 - I told you so...1stTimeTri - 2009-11-14 8:36 AM Morning, TAN. Wifey told me this morning that she bought tickets for us to see the live plays Grease and Rent next year. Also, tickets for the live show The Lion King go on sale at the beginning of Dec. and she'll try to purchase those! The shows are in Madison and not New York, though. Oh, well. I'm assuming they're the national touring productions? In that case, the caliber will be just as good as Broadway. Most often, the people who are cast in national tours have done stuff on Broadway. But shows open and close quickly, so if you happen to land a part in a Broadway show, it doesn't mean you'll have it forever. The big national touring productions are just as prestigious and imho, they can charge you double to see it in NYC, just because it's "on Broadway". Really, there's no difference. Really. A good way to pre-judge the credibility of a tour that comes to your area is how long they'll be there. If they're only going to be there for a weekend of performances, they aren't as "big" and the quality MIGHT be less than top notch. If the run is for a week or so, then it's probably a good production. |
