I have not seen the label but I doubt if there is any mango in it, just artificial ingredients.

sk2a2005 - 2011-06-21 9:02 AM Man I REALLY hope they dont do Mango for FL because I'm allergic to mangos!!! Would suck if I have to carry all that crap!!!

I too doubt there is real mango in it but the run course is a buffet of sports food.  Water, coke, broth, cookies, fruit, gels.  No worries

x2

I've been slacking these last few weeks as my daughter got married Saturday.  I did all the weekday workouts but needed the past few weekends to get the house ready for company, paint, trim bushes, etc.  Did very little biking but kept up swimming and running for the most part.

Kind of looking forward to getting back in the groove.  There's something to be said for having a routine.

enjoy,

Duane

Very exciting. I've been building base and feel good about where I am, but I'm glad to be on an actual plan for the race. It will be here before we know it.

I am into my fifth week of Matt Fitzgerald's plan.  Good stuff so far.  I have a long bike this weekend of 2hrs 45min and a long run of 1hr 20min.

I started my 20-week training plan last Sunday.  It feels great so far.  The less often and less structured workouts I did between the Gulf Coast half and the start of my plan seems to have helped my recovery.  Good training everyone - don't over do it!

mroudabush - 2011-06-14 11:44 AM Just got a condo at Sunbird, on the water, 1 bedroom, w/ two sleeper sofas, full kitchen, $89/night.  I think about 1/2 mile from start.  Large complex, with plenty of rooms open

My family has owned a condo at sunbird for many years.  It is only a few hundred yards from the start...and just west of the boardwalk.  The units are mostly 1 and 2 bedrooms.  It is not the newest property on the strip, but it is a good value for the price, and is family oriented with 3 pools.  Also has gated parking, so no problems parking with bikes etc.

Can't wait for this race.  This was my first weekend of the 20wk build, did 75 on cycle yesterday and 8miles on foot today.  I just wish it wasn't so hilly around here.  I think I spent less than half my time in my aerobars due to the rollers and double oak mountain.  Anyone else in here from Birmingham area?

Also where do folks position themselves in the swim at the start of the spin cycle?  I'm not well versed in open water ocean swimming.  I guess I'll go far right.  Any other suggestions?

I haven't posted in awhile....seems everyone is excited to get on to their IM build.

I've been struggling with knee injury issues and had to stop running in early May, haven't been training much and pretty bummed out about my knee.  I have 3 bone on bone spots on my knee...two medial and one on my patella.

With advice of my physicians I'm trying a medial unloader brace to see if that allows me to run or walk pain free. I'm also going to take some race walking lessons.

Right now not sure if I'll be able to race. I'm considering doing swim and bike and plan on DNFing or see if I can learn to walk faster without pain and plan on walking the run.  If I race it will be more to participate and have fun. I'm drawn to try as it is the day after I turn 50.

For some reason I was thinking the race was capped at 2,500 participants. When viewing the participant list I count 3,029 registered. Is there normally over 3,000 in this race or was I just mistaken about the 2,500 cap?

It looks as if they have finally posted the correct map for the bike course. I think at one point they still had the map from 2009.

If you are still looking for a. 3 bedroom condo try the summit. On the run course, heated pool less than half mile from boardwalk and was nice enough. VRBO listed some 3 and 4 bedrooms I believe. We found it perfect in 2009 and now doing it Again with a 2.5 yr old and 7 mo old. Stay healthy everyone and good luck Kathy.

Slacking on booking a place, never done the race and not familiar with Panama City, etc.  Any recommendations, just need a one bedroom or studio, nothing fancy.

look on vrbo.com and there is a place called sunbird not too far from the start. sunbird is almost all 1BR with some 2BR conversions.

Check out www.teammpi.com, they are doing a tri-camp specific to IMFL, not sure of the dates or anything but I'm sure there would be swimming involved.

Thanks JM2  I think I am gonna sign up for that...

Question for group:  I see some folks are actually training to walk the run...My reality is that i will be walking probably half of the run.   Should I/do I need to practice walking and running?  Anyone done IM Florida before who did a run/walk wanna give some advice?

My run coach, who did IMFL last year, has me working on a 4/1, for a couple of reasons. 1) I am not a runner, and 2) my cardiologist only approved an IM as long as the plan includes walking, because oxidants won't clear my bloodstream fast enough if I were to try to run the whole thing. In this next month and the coming longer training runs, I will be training to that 4/1 effort.
