First week of Weight Watchers for hubby and me went well. I am down 2.0 to 145.4 this week. YAY!!!

Hubby is doing equally as well and lost 4.2 - he is starting to see how it feels when he eats healthy (more energy, less blah feeling, etc) and I LOVED he made a comment last night to a friend that "this doesn't feel like a diet". YAY! More victories for him in my blog but it was a good week.

Another week at home, before I leave for Alaska on Sunday for 2 weeks for work.

Stacie

Hey everyone,

Sorry I've been so MIA, busy with school. I start my first rotation on Wed--family medicine. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I hope everyone is getting through the challenge! So far I've dropped just over 3lbs which is good, only about 1lb per week, but I don't want to lose too quickly. I'm probably eating 4-5 times a day and aiming for all healthy choices. I've got it in my head that junk food is kind of gross (which well...it is gross) and somehow everytime I want to have a chip or something it just really isn't as good as I used to think they were. Haha!

Congrats to both of you and I am seriously jealous of Alaska for 2 weeks!!!!  What part and do you need a notebook carrying temporary assistant????

I work for a telecommunications company in Anchorage. I lived there for 6 years (00-06) and then hubby got transferred with the military to Oklahoma where we are now. I still work for the company from home and travel up there for 2 weeks 1-2x a year. Not sure the boss would pay you or if you would fit in my suitcase but come on. The more the merrier.

Another new week....

My weight remains constant -- 145.2 -- but this weekend I think I made a mental u-turn.

I'm not sure I can totally explain it (and, in my head, it all sounds a little whiny to me), but this is it:  I'm not incredibly happy about where my life is right now.  And one of the things that feeds into that is me wanting to be in better shape, look better, feel better, etc. but not really reaching that goal.  Not only that, but sometimes actively, consciously doing things that get in the way of what I'm trying to accomplish.

I think my brain goes here:  if I succeed at this and then STILL not feel good about my life, then what?  THEN what do I do?

So... by sabotaging myself, not hitting my goals, I'm essentially allowing a reason to exist for WHY I'm unhappy.  Something to blame.

And yes - I know this isn't all that logical.

But I think I'm done with that now.  I realized (and this seems so stupid and, like, DUH to me now) that transforming my body into something I'm proud of won't necessarily solve ANYTHING... but it'll make me feel good about myself, put me in a different place -- both mentally and physically -- and once movement starts in a positive direction, anything can happen.  Worst case scenario?  I'm still unhappy, but I'm unhappy with a rockin' body.

So, this weekend, I went through the house and actually threw out the food that wasn't doing me any good.  And yesterday, I was more mindful of what I was putting in my mouth than I had been in a very long time.  And it felt good.  Like I was taking charge of my future and making good choices rather than allowing myself to fall back into habits that did nothing for me.

We'll see how this goes.

I can totally relate to the "self sabotage"..... I've revamped some of my goals and I'm determined to make choices that put ME in the best situation for success.

Yes I am alive.

No I don't know how much I weigh.

Feeling pretty good though, getting some good training in and sticking to my somewhat modified eating plan. No chocolate bars, cream or sugar, or stuffing myself until I burst at every opportunity (or really at all, although I certainly have eaten too much on occasion) for going on 3 weeks now so that is good.

I am hesitant to restrict my diet too much as I am new at this but I am sort of looking forward to becoming more strict in September.

Have a good week everyone.

Good morning everyone!  I'm at 139.4 - I seem to weight in every Monday morning at 140 and then by Friday I might be down but right back at 140 on Mondays.  I've decided to ditch the calipers!  For one - it's hard to measure in the same spot every single week and I'm doing 9 spots to get a good estimate.  If I follow the quick and easy guideline I'm taking measurements in places I don't accumulate fat so the end result is totally wrong (sadly).  And I need an assistant to take measurements in places I do accumulate fat and I'm thinking that the way to keep the spark alive in a 17 year relationship is NOT to ask hubby to pinch my fat every week!!  Scale is useless - I've dropped two clothing sizes in 6 months and yet I've only lost 1 pound. ? Maybe I'll get out the tape measure.

So long as I'm getting leaner... that's the goal.  No more muffin top and lower tummy is starting to get flatter woo hoo!  I'm moving in the right direction.  I have started eating my carbs immediately before/after workout and then no more for remainder of day.  Or limited unprocessed quanitities.  When hungry - I snack on fruits/veggies.  Seems to be working out well.  It's amazing how if I start the day off with say a bagel - I want bread all day long.  Bye bye bagels!

Stay strong and focussed everyone!!

How's everyone doing today?

I ate a ton yesterday... all healthy but still too much. Some days I just want to eat all day long. I think it's emotional, as I do tend to be an emotional eater. Oh well, it's a new day... time to get back to it.

I'm hanging in there. The first few weeks of school are crazy and I haven't been working out as much as I'd like but I've also been too busy in the classroom to even nibble at the goodies in the teacher lounge. I am trying to do better with nutrition but our challenge right now is that my son has Football practice in another town every night from 6-9pm, so we haven't been having the usual healthy family dinners. The daily practice ends this week so things will be more normal. I've dropped a few lbs and several inches, so it's all going in the right direction. My problem is that I am impatient, LOL, but I keep telling myself that slow and steady wins the race with body composition!
Great to read about everyone's progress, keep it up!

Abbie, that protein shake sounds delicious!

I know I shouldn't do this but I weighed myself this morning and was down 3 pounds. Just finished a really sweaty run so it's all water but I'll take it.

Yes! Love the Splish suits (wish I didnt bec they are pricey). I did the "Grab bag" sale 3 times this summer, I got 2 wonderwoman suits plus a British flag suit (perfect bec I was born and raised in Scotland). It's time for a new suit so I am trying to decide whether to risk the grab bag again or just splurge on one of the skull suits

I can relate to that -- somehow being "full" is connected to being "satisfied", but in an emotional sense.  It's hard to stop even when I know I'm doing it....

The earthquake didn't do any damage that I know of other than a cracked sidewalk in Richmond.  However, we have a hurricane coming over the weekend.  I have had enough.

This is why I typically do Friday weigh-in's rather than on Monday...

For me, it's that I thrive on the structure of the work week -- during the work day, I've already brought food to work (and prepped ahead of time) and so I'm eating healthy.  Most nights I've already figured out what I'm having for dinner.

But get to the weekend and I fall apart!  I don't often have the healthy stuff around (or I'm saving it for work) and I find myself at odd hours thinking that I haven't eaten in awhile... or the invites to go out... or because I'm tired it's easier to order pizza...etc etc etc.

I firmly believe that if I could reign in my weekends, I'd be SO much more successful at this.

ETA:  Or I could just start working 7 days a week...heh...
