Extreme Veteran 671 Not Quite DFL | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Round 2: The Holidays 3 in a row! Went with a strength workout today. I guess I'm a bit odd - I left my Garmin in my office and I didn't want to run or bike without my HRM so.... I pumped me some iron. Tomorrow is Y league basketball - so then it will be 4. If I workout Friday that will make every day. Holy smokes. Candidate forum tonight - I'm pumped and a little nervous! Wish me well! |

Fantastic on getting all the workouts in a row. I am with you on not having the Garmin. Sometimes I feel that if it isn't recorded, I didn't do it. Stoopid, but there it is. |

Extreme Veteran 671 Not Quite DFL | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Round 2: The Holidays Thank you! It is great to have such support coming in here. The forum was a minor success. I say minor because there were only about 20 spectators. Of that number, 3 were of the opposing party, 1 was the campaign manager for my opponent, 1 was my wife, and 2 did not live in the county. Having said that, I felt like I rocked it - especially when oddly enough, my opponent's campaign manager approached me and told me how well I did and a leading member of the opposing party told me I was the only candidate that sounded like a prosecutor. (there were 3 of the 4 candidates present - two from each party vying for the State's Attorney's Office) We also had 2 circuit clerk candidates, 1 judicial candidate (unopposed) and 1 State Rep. candidate. Good practice - I'm hoping for a debate. |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Round 2: The Holidays Ok, I'm doing my Friday update a day early because I might be visiting my parents tonight, and if I do, I'll probably crash there and head straight to work from there in the morning (they live about 20 miles away). So since I might not be able to weigh on my own scale, I thought it'd be more accurate just to do it the day before. Anyways, it looks like I've lost another 1.5 lbs and 0.3% body fat this week. Oooh, and a new middle number! Goodbye 160's, hope I never see you again

Regular 137 Lansing, Michigan | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Round 2: The Holidays Friday weigh-in. 203.5lbs (up 2.5 from last week; ~1b up from start of P90X ) body fat 17.66% (down from 18.23% last week; ~3% down from start of P90X) Lean mass = 167.56 (up 3.2lbs from last week; ~7lbs up from start of P90X) Fat mass = 35.94 (down 0.7042 from last week; ~5.9 down from start of P90X) Things are trending in the right direction (total weight is up... but that is because of an increase in lean mass). Maybe I'll start adding in some easy runs into my training now that my body is getting used to increased training activity again. |

Master 1480 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Round 2: The Holidays Great job, you two! I've got good news, though I don't know that I can trust it... my weight has been bouncing around because of hormones, and last night I had a migraine and puked twice... so, take this with a grain of salt... I'm down 3 pounds. AND I did monthly measurements and I've lost about 2" all around (not nearly as much as I thought it was going to be, but I'll take it). Not only that, but I'm within 0.2 pounds of being where I was when I started this whole dang thing back in the summer. I've been consistently eating well since the beginning of January, keeping the calories where they need to be and I think once I'm through this week (oh, I'm also giving up caffeine this week... nothing like making things challenging!), everything should continue to trend in the right direction. |

Great job, Laura! Lost inches don't lie... happy to see your hard work paying off! Hope the worst of the caffeine withdrawal is over. That definitely makes things challenging. Go you! |

Master 2005 Silverton, Oregon | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Round 2: The Holidays Congrats to Missy and Tom too! You both are doing awesome! I am still stuck... haven't lost or gained, but this is definitely not where I want to maintain. I'm reworking the nutrition plan and really watching portion sizes starting this week, so hopefully I'll have better news next week. |

I am in that same boat this week. Been getting in some pretty consistent workouts but have let my eating slip a little so not getting the bang for my buck that I should be getting. Need to focus on nutrition this week. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Round 2: The Holidays Does anyone else get "Runners World"? There is a fantastic article about "disordered eating" this issue......Gives me pause to wonder about how little we accept or body rype for what it is. There's a fine balance between accepting our body flaws for what they are and pushing toward an unrealistic body image. The article referenced a couple of elite collegiate athletes who dropped to unhealthy intake calorically and some of the physical/ psychological indications of this type thinking. Definitely worth reading this months issue if you don't currently subscribe. |

It'll be tough to stay on track, for sure, but maybe suggesting healthy foods and such will be a welcome idea to your friend! Is she trying to get healthier too? Judi: I get RW. Champion 9430 No excuses! | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Round 2: The Holidays So how did we all do through January? I feel like I have made some good progress but have a ton to go. My clothes fit much easier for sure as i was down about 10 pounds for the month but if I can have a similar February things will really be rolling. |

Master 1480 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Round 2: The Holidays I definitely made headway in January. Down both in weight and inches...just about back to where I was when we started this thing mid-summer (which was when I was still marathon training). I've been anally counting calories. And what's really helped me is to keep a weekly/monthly total ... I'm weird in that by keeping track like that, I refuse to miss a day of tracking because then it would throw off my monthly averages. Heh. I'm such an all-or-nothing personality in that respect. I've also been really trying to allow myself to slide every once in awhile. To go out with friends and eat and drink and pay SOME attention to what I'm doing, but not let it ruin my good time. This part can be hard for me. Sounds like a lot of people are having great success! The new year's resolutions are working... |
