I saw this start the last time I was on BT and now you guys are up to 23 pages. I don't have time to catch up. Hope all is well!! Life has happened once again in my household and it has put my life and my goals on hold. I've cancelled everything in 2012. My only goal is to keep my family from falling apart. Living vicariously through the Olympics. I do plan on getting up at 5am to watch the women's marathon in the morning. My hometown gal, Desi, who runs the same trails I do, is injured but still going to make to the start line. Her coach posted last week that she was pulling out and she posted a retraction stating the decision is hers to make not his. She wants to at least start. Who knows if she will ever have another chance to run in the Olympics. Go Desi!! Miss you guys lots and lots!! Think of all of you every time I see pop-tarts, piglets, or geckos. {{MELON PRESS}} I love you, Jo. Prayers for you and your family. I can't even imagine having kids who have their own difficulties, but I do know what it's like to put everything on hold for family. Go out and run for fun once in a while, for you. You have no idea how hard it is to do anything for me. I am afraid if I leave the house bad things will happen and I won't be able to be reached. I went out with a friend for breakfast and for a trip to the farmer's market today which is the first thing I have done for me in forever!!! I am going to try to start going outside for a walk/run or just a walk or just sit outside for an hour every morning at 5am. I need to have that time to myself. That is my goal for the next week. I want to do that 3x next week. You guys can feel free to call me out on that. I know it seems simple but giving myself time is very difficult. It sounds like you and I are in the same spot. While I have no words of encouragement, I can honestly say I completely understand what you are saying/feeling. Hang in there. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jo and Erica, hang in there. I agree with everyone that you can only help your family if you take care of yourself. Allow yourself some time just for you each day, no matter how brief. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The young woman from my College is still missing. There was a call out last night for volunteers, so I went out this morning and searched with a S&R team. There have been no clues or sightings. She wandered off with another developmentally disabled woman, who has been found, but she is unable to help much with any information. Very frustrating situation. The one good thing is that the weather has been good with the nights warm. I just can't imagine how frightened she must be. Appreciate continued good thoughts and prayers. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, i survived my race - here's the report (i probably screwed up making it live) http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp... my plan calls for a 3 hr bike tomorrow. This race proves I need more bike time, but i'm having a little trouble with motivation. Maybe after a few beers I'll find it.

Thank you for helping with the search. Good luck. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well firstly prayers to all the deities for the safe return of Joy. And secondly prayers and thoughts to all our manatees going through difficult family times. Finding time for yourself is the key to getting through these times even if that just means checking in on the pod and laughing at our smutty jokes! Well I woke up this morning and a miracle had occurred - GB had 6 more gold medals - unheard of! Being the host nation has paid dividends. Michael Klim was on the radio yesterday and theyasked him why Australia were less successful. And her said that other countries are now training the same way Australia has been training since Sydney and it pays off. Also GB use Australian coaches as do China and pay them handsomely....As a host nation you have to get behind it as Australia did back in Sydney and to some degree Greece did in Athens. BUT you have to ask is this a worthy use of tax payers money when it is to the detriment of education, healthcare etc......he had some interesting points. And we love him. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, I think this is going to work. This is my video. It is a combination of several laps. The first couple are slow and the later ones I was going more for speed. Please lend me your wisdom. Race is tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it. It's a great race. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I tried to watch your video (even though I probably had nothing to offer --wisdom-wise), but it wouldn't let me, it just took me to a video upload page for You tube. In my little world: I ran 5.6 miles (was aiming for 6, but that's what I get for running w/o gps) and I ran it in 57:35!!!! That was a 10:15 minute/mile pace!!! NEW RECORD FOR ME!!!!! Sorry, done yelling now...I needed this, its been a tough week at work. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Quick check in now that I am back home. Still catching up on laundry, etc. I've been trying to follow along via email on the phone but that only works so well. I caught the end of the women's marathon today. Good stuff. I posted a lot of pictures from the trip in the training blog. Good thoughts for all the Manatees and their friends and family. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm back and pretty much recovered. Ran a slow 3.75 miles this morning. First run in over a week, but I logged at least 25 miles hiking last week. I had a bit of a shock last night. I realized that my next triathlon is this coming Saturday, not the Saturday after that. When I told Ben, he was a little panicked. I think we will be fine, but I was planning on doing more this week than I'm going to be able to if I want to do anything like a race on Saturday. I'm sorry some of you are going through some rough family times. That the issues are bothering you shows that you are a good person who attaches well and wants the best for the people you love. Don't take that for granted. I have many family members for whom none of that is true -- who seem to revel when others are in pain. As others have said, remember to take care of yourself, too -- which I know is difficult when you are trying to be a caretaker to others. Jayson (5 year old) Olympic quote of the week: "You know, gymnastics takes a lot of skill. You need to be able to walk on your hands, at least for a little while, and hold onto a bar with your arms straight out without falling to the ground. And flip around and around a bar without slipping. They have to practice a lot to be able to do that!" |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Still nothing on the search for Joy. S&R were going to start searching more technical areas today, so they didn't want/need any volunteers. Got a 12km run in this AM. Was just starting to really heat up when I finished. I *may* paint the half bath later on today after some waffles and fresh blueberries. |
