Good info, I recently purchased the 910 and was frustrated I could not upload any data. I did figure out the manual download and upload but that is a PIA! Looking forward to the fix

Ron, almost there?  Just tried to download a custom workout and now it won't let me unless Garmin Express is resident.  If I have to choose between that and being able to upload to BT, custom workouts are going to have to wait.

Tom,

We have a lot of the backend programming done.  We are testing it now and have an email into Garmin today on some issues.  I imagine it will be at least a few more weeks.

I was just about to see if you had any thoughts on why communicator is the only Garmin supported upload mechanism when I came across this thread. Any word on when it might be done? It would be really good to have it in place- one reason I went with Garmin Fenix 2 over a Suunto was the integration with BT! Seems silly but it was a factor in my decision-making. Tell Garmin THAT! :-)

Do have a lot of history of saved workouts?  If you delete all but the most recent ones, it may perform a lot better and won't hang.

Is this on BT or on Garmin? how do I pare down this list?

Thanks,

This would be on the device.  You should be able to clear your workouts from the device itself.  Maybe only keep the most recent month (assuming you have a lot more) to see how that works.

We are still working on it, a few bugs we are still sorting out with Garmin but most of the programming is done.

Out of curiosity, is the end result of this going to be the same as what Trainingpeaks does now?  Basically we authorize a sync from garmin connect to BT and it automatically uploads?

Whoa - that is going to be awesome Ron. Thus far I am really enjoying the new auto sync to training peaks.

I'm looking forward to this as well.  The Download Boogie is getting old.  I do wish that the Garmin Connect > Training Peaks sync was not quite so fast because I would like for it to copy the event description and notes.  Tapiriik gives me the time to add this info before adding it to Strava.

Out of curiousity, what data do you plan to import from Garmin?  Obviously the activity data but what about sleep data, weight, steps and so on?  Obviously there are already fields in BT for sleep and weight.

I obviously can't speak for Ron but the other implementations I've seen (Trainingpeaks and Strava) haven't been activity imports from Garmin so much as when Garmin gets a file, it just ships it off to TP, Strava, whomever and that site processes the raw file.  So whatever is in that file gets into the import as long as the site is configured to use it.

So my guess is that whatever BT currently imports from a Garmin computer will get imported by this.

That's not entirely true.  MyFitnessPal grabs the weight data from Garmin as well as the activity calories.

Sure it's true, I said I've only seen TP and Strava.

If that's how it works with MFP then that's great and maybe that will happen here too.  Only Ron can say.

This is exactly how it works.  We just finished some successful testing of this the past week.  Any manual file uploads to Garmin Connect or uploads via Express to Connect get sent to BT as a FIT file within 5 minutes.  We then process them as we get them, which has been pretty immediate and the logs here are updated.  If we don't capture a certain metric here (weight), it should be an easy thing to adjust.

I just read the provider API agreement yesterday and am just waiting on a change.  We hope to wrap this up soon.

Excellent news!

To be clear, I was more curious about the implementation than I was asking for the data to be imported.  I'd want options about importing some of the data (or tweaks to privacy settings).  I am excited about the possibilities ;-)

Wow, if you guys can get this to work then that'll be great, I've just started using Express and it's a pain to uninstall and revert when it works so well with everything else.
