Greatest Comedians of all time (Page 2)

Woody Allen should be on this list for a number of reasons.  If you haven't heard his early stand up it is well worth the time to find it. 

Larry David should also be on the list.

I don't know about "all time"... but ya, good one. Eddie is super funny. I love his stand up.

I just started thinking about this...  First, humor is subjective of course.  Second, it seems a lot of who I laughed at at one time, are terrible now.

I won't list who was the best then, I will list who I laughed at.

Bill Cosby cracked me up as a kid...

Andrew Dice Clay had me in stiches in HS.  I'm embarassed to say.

Jerry Sienfeld is probably king for me followed closely by:

Dave Chappelle

Maria Bamford, Kathleen Madigan, Ellen Degeneris, Brian Regan, Ron White, Luis CK, Dave Attell all make me laugh these days.

Dane Cook had his moments.

A sleeper may be Katt Williams.

To be honest.  I Never enjoyed Robin Williams, Carlin, Pryor, Steven Write and a lot of the other big names back in the day.

When I think of the greatest I also think of their overall contribution to the industry and to their impression on a wide cross section of society, also longevity.  Do they transcend generations.  My 6 year old thinks that Curly Howard is the funniest ever.  I'd have to add to the greats Bob Hope.

All the rest (physical comedians) learned from these 3.

This one's wet, this one's wet, this one's wet, wet, wet...did you dry these in a rainforest?

Eddie Murphy's Delirious (not Raw)

Robin Williams (the man's an immense talent and a hugely underrated actor)

I've got a soft spot for Norm MacDonald (I hear him talk, I laugh)

Ellen Degeneres (amazingly quick wit)

Joan Rivers (an ageless wonder, again, a quick wit)

there are so many to choose from!

A Chevy Chase prat fall still cracks me up!  Thank you very little.

Early Howie Mandel?

I remember a lot of laughing to W.C. Fields (My Little Chickadee) and Groucho Marx.

I always liked John Candy and an honourable mention to Mae West.

Also liked Gene Wilder especially with Richard Prior.

But all time best gut-busting laughing goes to Bill Cosby on vinyl records.
