It's different. I liked the skins from before.

It's not horrible, but like a few others, I resist change. I'll get used to it though.

If you wanted to make a premium feature, IMHO, one of the first that I could think of, is kill ads for contributing members.

Another thing that I dislike, is the narrow size. I'm a computer geek, so I have a really big honking monitor ( well, a couple truth be told ) and run at 1600x1200 resolution. So 800 width looks super tiny. A 1024 option would be very nice.

My USD $0.02.

I'm going to give it a week before I vote, I think change can be a good thing, but I'd like to see the bugs get knocked out of it first.  most specifically the distance recording bug(or lack of distance recording)  Overall, I think I'll like it, but I'll wait a week to give my full vote.

I'm also going to with-hold my vote until I get a better handle on this... my first impulse is to say... "I like the looks of the HOME page, but the rest of it is too slow loading!" I also don't particularly care for the skinny strip running down the center of my screen. Seems strange... but let's wait and see how it turns out... give it some time...

The only other webpages on the internet that load up this slowly are ones that are trying to give me viruses... so i was a little worried. The new look is def professional and a refreshing change (although i did really like the skin choices we had before. I also think the menu at the top of the page can be consolidated a little so we don't have to scroll down so far to get to the content we want. But i'm sure Ron was expecting to have plenty of bugs that need to be worked out. I'm sure it took a lot of work by Ron and everyone else to do all these improvements and just wanted to say thanks and that i 'm sure it'll be awesome and everyone will love it once it is all cleaned up.

I am a graphic designer and let me say it looks great. Real clean, crisp and streamlined.

Unfortunatly, load time is a problem. I am on a T1 and it still takes a bit to load.

I am sure with a few fixes here and there...will help. Takes time

Great JOB

Chris, you shouldn't be seeing any ads, except for the ad links we had before. All subscribing members should be in an ad free zone. We'll fix that.

Thanks for you guys candor. We'll work hard to incorporate your changes in the new redesign. Ovetta.

It's a bit slower, but the whole look is much "sleeker"- overall a change in the right direction.

I don't see 'em anymore.

Also, yeah, my comments are intended as feedback, not as criticism of any of the hard work that you, Ron, and others have put in here. Being a software guy, I know it's sometimes hard to hear critiques of what you've worked on, but my comments are aimed at helping this continue to be a great place to share the Tri-life.

Thanks once again for all the work!

. I think most of the page loading speeds should be back to previous loading times. There were some new systems that were not fully tested out under such load and the bottlenecks didn't become apparent until after the switch
. Also the BT blogger will not display your log entries by default, only if you give your blog a name through your training settings screen.
. Registered members should no longer be seeing advertisements.
. We're slowly working through any remaining issues, thanks for your patience

The look is cool and very professional, but I can't say that I like it because I have to scroll to much.  I would like it better if half the site wasn't dead space.  Especially the strength logs they now wrap onto two lines instead of being on one.

Not a serious issue, but like a few others mentionned I miss seeing the inspirational quotes at the top.  I just found them down at the bottom, but I liked that I didn't have to search for them, they just popped up, and usually at just the time I most needed each particular piece of wisdom

Hey Ron..

I think the new theme looks really sharp.. I like the crispness and new icons..

I do have one complaint though.

It seems to me that the meat of the site doesn't start until the lower part of the screen. For instace.. with my resolution @ 1024 x 768 this form to post a reply isn't on the screen except for the subject text box. This means you have to scroll down to do almost anything (i know.. it's kinda lazy and picky) but it also means the site much easier to use..

I too understand the benefits from a fixed width site since I am a web developer. Unfortunately I don't really know much asp. I'm pretty much a PHP guy.

I really appreciate all this work you do as this site is helping me tremendously in my (ad)venture to Tri!

Many Thanks!

Will

Hi Ron,

As a non financial member I feel some what loath to put in my opinion.... A bit like voting really...if you dont vote you have no right to complain....... But since this is not about being a financial member and it is a public forum etc etc here we go.......

I hate , hate, VOMIT, the 3/4 screen and I vomit, hate , hate, vomit again the advertisements. Problem is though I understand the "need" finacially for ads....I just loath them.

I will also use this site for a week to see how I feel.

cheers,

Spanner

oh......also find the down load time very very slow and I am on a adsl network at work....usually very fast...I do not look forward to going home to try this out on the old dial up jobbie.

The speed was an issue at first but it seems ok now. I don't mind ads but when they flash/blink/change constantly then I can either move them off screen or I stop using the site. So far I can avoid these. My resolution is set on 1280x1024 at home right now and often higher for gaming so the BT site looks tiny with large blank areas on both sides in my browser (Mozilla Firefox). Otherwise, I like some of the new layout ideas and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I was comfortable with the old look.

Overall, I like the new look. I agree with the people who have said that it looks more professional and sleeker. I'm still learning where things are, but that'll be no problem in another couple of days.

However, there are two things that bother me.... first is the width. I have nice, big monitors both at work and at home, and because of the fixed width, content takes up just a strip down the middle of my browser. Working in IT and having put together a couple of websites, I understand the reasons for making that decision, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Second, I agree that there seems to be too much "header"... anything that I'm looking at on the page always requires a scroll down. I'd like to see that a little more streamlined -- perhaps put some of that content in a sidebar?

But to reiterate -- overall I'm crazy about the new design and some of the new features! And really appreciate all the time and effort that a change this monumental requires.
