Master 1529 | Subject: RE: ZzzzzzZombies Team Thread Bp74 - 2008-10-02 10:47 AM Hi all Brian here, I plan on 30 miles this month, with a bit of a slow start. My ten year wedding anniversary is this weekend and we are going on a trip to celebrate. The area (Glenn Arbor, MI) is so good for cycling that I am going to take full advantage and do 2 maybe 3 long rides, so the running this weekend will suffer. I will begin my running Monday.
P.s awsome job on the members list.
Mornin all, Such a small world! Used to live/work what have you in Glen Arbor. Beautiful area very fun in the summer!! Still have lots o'friends and family up that way. Enjoy your weekend I think its going to be great weather wise up there! Ok, question for the group do warm up and cool down miles count for challenge? If so got in 3.16 miles this morning after getting kidos to school. Do most of you use a trainer in the winter months for cycling? Hubby and I are looking at getting one, is this something that we could share or is it better to get two?

If so got in 3.16 miles this morning after getting kidos to school. It's still running. I'd count it. Do most of you use a trainer in the winter months for cycling? Hubby and I are looking at getting one, is this something that we could share or is it better to get two? I use a trainer or rollers in the winter if I can't get outside. If you'll be riding the trainer at different times I'd say get one. If you want to ride together, you'd need two. You might want to consider using an old tire dedicated to the trainer if you'll be doing lots of miles. |

Originaly was leaning tward rollers but then hubby jacked up his knee and doc said riding a stationary bike would be great for him to get back quad strengh, but said NO WAY to rollers. I myself am pretty bran spanking new to the whole bike think and have heard/read that rollers might not be to great for someone like me either. So now am leaning the trainer way. I don't know... |

What am I doing wrong. Not great at the tech. stuff. Ok - let me see if I can help you. When you go into your goal section in the middle row of commands (bold, italics etc) in the middle row is the word HTML. If you click on that it should bring up a box. This is where you would need to copy the code out of Nicole's text box to. Otherwise what you can do is:
copy and paste this into your goals section. I think that will work as well. Sorry it took me until today to update it. Stacie |

Stacie Btw - if you want to copy and paste - do this - Hit the quote at the top of this message like you are going to reply to my message. Then you can click on the table which will make little "handles" and then hit control c or right click and copy. Then just open your goals section in your log and hit paste. |

The rollers are much harder and you need to focus and concentrate more on your balance. That's supposed to smooth out your pedaling and improve your technique. The trainer lets you get in your miles without much fuss or muss; it's more "relaxing" with no chance of falling off. Not sure which I prefer, but I use the rollers more now because "it's good for me". |

Living in upstate NY (as in it snows alot ), I spent quite a bit of time on the trainer last winter getting ready for IM Lake Placid. I would do rides as long as 3 hours, and for that I think the trainer is better. I am seriously considering getting a set of rollers this winter for some of the shorter rides because as one of the previous post said, it is better for you. The better part is it forces you to "ride" the bike. This means maintaining balance and focusing on what you are doing. Much closer to real life riding, I am told. |

Hubby and I are looking at getting one, is this something that we could share or is it better to get two? Every mile counts so yeah for sure log it. As for trainers - even if you and hubby are planning on riding at the same time I'd buy one first and make sure you can both tolerate, like it before buying two. I ride my trainer when I have to but I hate it! Don't know if you belong to a gym, but you could also go to spin class to get some winter miles in. |
