JBrashear - 2009-05-05 9:49 PM This is odd; it looks like they're saving the pros until the last waves of the day...well behind even the first-timers. CapTex waves posted

I just noticed that the pro wave is an ITU draft-legal race.  Should be fun to watch!

That explains why they're setting the pros apart then.

I'm still stuck near the *ss end of the swim waves at 8:10, which means it will probably be 8:30 before I'm in the water. The bike course will be crowded as hell....again.

This might be the last year I do this event.

So I'll be able to get a quick run in before you even start the race?

Oh my, I'm in the last wave at 8:20. Maybe I'll see if they'll let me in the invitational wave.

7:50 start for me...not too bad, been significantly later in past races.  I'm pretty much smack dab in the middle though, and the women are sandwiched between the men. Should be interesting. I'm simply THRILLED to have a yellow cap and not pink!! Yay!

I'm with you.  It will most likely be close to 2 hours of waiting after they close transition.

At least the Austin Tri is on the same course.  Somehow they've figured out how to get everybody in the water in under an hour.

If last year is any indication, you'll be able to get a long run in.

Anyone know why the waves starts were so delayed last year?  Any reason to believe it will be more timely this year?

The fact that they're putting 5 minutes between waves is a big part of it.

I'm doing the event as my first and I am in the "first tri" category which starts at 9:30, I think.  I guess they wanted the elites to be finished before us newbies hit the course.

This is one of the few races where being a 35-39 year old male earned an early start time...

Wow... interesting.  I thought that would have been the reason for holding us off so long... hmm....

Anyway, I'm excited... a little nervous about the water but excited none the less.

JeepFleeb - 2009-05-13 8:23 PM Okay, the updated wave list sealed it.

I'm in.

Where is that posted?  I could not find an updated wave list unless it has not changed.

It may be a deciding factor for me.  If I'm still the last wave, I'm bailing.

If he's talking about this link then yea, it looks better. My AG will be going out at 7:45 instead of 8:10, which is better.

Alright so if I survive the swim I should be out of the water before you guys get in it

I've had terrible GI issues for the last three weeks that basically put training on hold (missed out on some class and work too) and I've just started to get back in the swing and hopefully I can get a long s/b/and run in something this weekend/early next week. Unfortunately as a result I've changed my goals for the race and am hoping to just finish this one since it's my first Oly. Biggest worry is the swim and how long it's gonna take, pretty confident that I can trudge my way through the bike and run.

This race report might refresh your memory.  It is without a doubt one of the best RR for CapTex.

My favorite line out of that is still "As I was fist-deep in the horse...".

Shoot, I read this too late and already put my order for bass in and they told me they're not quite equal in length...that's definitely going to be a handicap on the swim...*sigh*

Haha, I had never read that, but that made my morning!! Awesome RR!
