Hi team! I'm Kim. Looking forward to another challenge! I'm good with any name but agree we need to pick up the chattiness in the group!

Hi (again) Team!

Thought I should introduce myself too.  I'm Lisa.  Going to be 28 on 6-22.  Live in the Chicago burbs.  I've been training for ~1 1/2 months now.  I have 5K # 2 on 6-13...so will be training for that!  And then have Tri # 1 in early July.  Running is the thing I dislike the most...but as I continue to build up my endurance - it's not as bad Laughing  My goal for this month is to run 6.22 hours...in "honor" of my birthday :-)

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to team 2 and the crazy world of triathlon!

I was at U of C from '85-'91 but haven't been back since '93.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  I ran the Japan Day 4 miler in Central Park this morning.  Nice race.  Got passed by geisha girls, samurai's, guys in combat boots carrying backpacks, and someone (gender unknown) in a goldfish costume.  Not to mentions countless seniors and kids.  Love running in CP.

My goal for the month is 58 miles.  That's what the marathon training plan for the month is and I'd like to follow it as closely as possible.

Hola, team!

Happy to be here....my goal is 50 miles. I'm coming back from a bum knee in April, but it seems to be on the right path now. I'm not feeling very creative, so I'll go with the majority rule for name.

What? You want your team name to be "Majority Rule?"

LMAO -- I like "Majority Rule" but of course I will go with whatever the group decides. It sounds like several of the group have been together before and there is an underlying theme of "chattiness" so what about something related to that??

Looking forward to a great team and to everyone meeting/exceeding their goals!!

So I could put this elsewhere, but figured I'd ask my June Team :-D  What do you all drink to provide carbs?  I think I realized today that Yellow 5 makes my tummy feel funny!!  Which is not fun, cuz I just bought a little gatorade thing of lemon-lime powder...ugh!!

Why do you think it's the coloring and not the Gatorade in general?

I don't drink carbs at all when I run. When I ride I mix up my own combo of cranberry juice, honey, rice syrup, and electrolytes. I don't really know quite what it gives me for carb calories but it has worked well for me so far.

I suppose I don't really know...what in gatorade typically makes people not feel good?  any ideas?

Hi everyone...

My name is Karen.  Looking forward to getting to know you all.  My goal for the month is 596 minutes (hope to do more).  If we still need to decide on a team captain...I vote for Artemis.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.  Will check in later.

Well, let's just say that "Team 1" aka "Team Taser Running" is already up to 10 pages. And it's not particularly a "meaningful conversation" going on. LOL

Uh, not that I've contributed to it, or anything.... Heh.

Interesting.... I'm on a medication that has yellow #5 on one particular dosage.... And a lot of people said they have problem on that dosage. Some of them suggested it was the yellow dye. (Because all the other ingredients are the same.)

Have you tried the non-yellow Gatorades? Does it make a difference?

My Naturalpath is into running.  Last month I asked her about sports drinks and she said to stay away from the Gatorade.  She recommends:

"Endura" - Non Medicinal Ingredients are:  Frusctose, citric acid anhydrous, malic acid and natural lemon-lime flavour.  Calories 120, Sodium 96 mg, total Carbohydrate 29g, Mangesium 174 mg, Potassium, 176 mg. etc.  This one is a little hard to find, but great if you have a tendency to cramp (like I do).  Very easy to digest.

Her second choice (and a little easier to find) is GU20.  I like the Tango Mango. Ingredients:  Maltodextrin, fructose, sodium citrate, citric acid, potassium citrate, natural tangerine and mango flavour, colored with annatto extract and beta carotene.

Hope this helps.

Hey team!   My name is Geoff--I have a wife and five kids. I live in Northern California.  My goal this month is to run 12 hours this month injury free.   I'm doing my first marathon on October 10th in Hawaii as part of the Ironman Hawaii thingy.

I started running April 15th three years ago.  Last year I had ITBands problems followed by plantar facitas problems.  My goal is to do my routine and continue to build base without injuries.

Boy this is a very personal question. Everyone has a different tolerance for how much to drink/what to drink and eat/ on the run.  Keep trying various thinks until you find out what works.  The only advise I would say is to avoid taking goos with anything other than water.

Me--I prefer 18 year old single malt whiskey.  Oh--that's my recovery drink.

Hello team,

How is everybody doing? Now that we have a captain we should find a name, as well. I think "June Bugs" it's quite funny and we could go for it, though I'm terrified of bugs.

So, what's your plans for the first day of the challenge? I'm going to do 5K.
and now a silly question.... do we have to log our runs both in the speadsheet and in the trainning log? sorry I'm a total newbbie....

looking forward to getting to know you all better.
Have a nice week!
