One spring break, my friends and I saw a hard hat abondoned on the side of the highway.  I sprinted out to grab it.  Needless to say, spring break + hardhat + mullet wig + great friends = some priceless pictures!

Was that 3 turkeys at once or a turkey 3 separate times?

Last weekend I saw a dead Javelina on the road.  I'm 38 and I'd never seen one before.  I would have preferred to see a living one but I will take what I can get.

My husband found a machete on the road today. He rode with it on his handlebars and prayed that he would not crash and decapitate himself. He managed to get it and himself home in one piece.

In grad school, on an early Sunday morning run, a buddy and I found this little six-pack type cooler with a couple cans of beer in it.  It was probably 7:00 am but, we drank them anyway.   Then we finished our 10 miler.  I can't imagine doing that now.  It wasn't even good beer but, it is a fond memory and we laughed about it for years.

OK.  This made me fall off the couch laughing.   Why?

Because, my aunt once  had  a frozen turkey in her freezer for a LONG time.   I don't remember the whole story, but somehow the turkey had passed from being "usable" to being "not usable."    She was afraid that her husband would be  mad at her for "wasting" the turkey..... so she drove out in the country and threw it in a field!

If you happened to find this turkey anywhere close to Hanover, IN, please let me know!

Ryan

Earlier this summer while walking my dog I found a $100.  Later that morning on training run found another $100 in about the same spot.  Pass that spot daily while walking my dog and even though it has been a couple of months since, I always keep an eye out for more.

Found a big box of old rusted/bent/broken wrenches. It was a b**** to carry home, but well worth it. They were all Craftsman. Walked into Sears and wowed the guy behind the counter. They didn't have enough in stock to cover them all, they'd have to put them on order. But the manager made me a deal for "comparable items" (who needs a dozen 1/2" box ends anyways). After some shrewd negotiating on their part (I was just happy to get free tools) I walked out with a $300 mechanics set and some odds and ends.

I need to find some better roads to train on.  All I ever find is roadkill and empty beer cans.  Cry

Just wondering, was this around the same time that you started the "tennis elbow" thread?

I'd be happy with empty bear cans at least they have value...all I get is roadkill.

My wife likes to stop and pick up silverware on our rides.  We now have a jar full of crack spoons in our garage.  She thinks it's great.  I think it's a little odd...

I rarely find anything cool.  A pocket knife and a couple wrenches top the list.

I helped organize a supported-underground half marathon, and my wife put out coolers for the runners.  Some jackazz pulled over and stole them. I guess he thought they fell of a truck.

That kind of sucked.

I saw a stop/ slow sign (the type flaggers use in contruction zones) on a ride a few weeks back in the ditch, partially covered with weeds. No construction within miles and not labeled with any company name. I went back and got it after I got home. Don't know why really other than to be able to say "I have one of those."

Several weeks back I found a Cervelo P2C lying there at the side of the road, in pretty good condition.  I felt lucky enough to find that, but then a little ways down was this cyclist lying just off the shoulder wearing some brand new Sidi Genius 5 carbons in my size.  I asked him if the bike was his, and he didn't reply.  Then I asked him if he wanted his shoes anymore, and he still didn't reply.  So wow, I was able to upgrade my bike and shoes all in this one lucky moment.  I'm hoping to find a Ferrari soon, too.

This is definately crude, but I once came across a d1ld0 stuffed in a stop sign post.  Gave me a nice giggle.

HAHAHAHA I just BURST out laughing and I have a bunch of Korean kids looking at me like I'm a psycho. (it's after class - not on BT while teaching! )
