Bike 50 for Judi's 50th Bday Challenge (Page 2)

I did 50 on the rollers today.  Got a indoor tri next weekend. 

No kidding...that's crazy!  Well done!  How did you entertain yourself for that long?

Those are some terrific pictures.  You had a beautiful ride.  Not to mention hard and long.   I'm in and will do my ride on Tuesday.

Okay... I haven't been putting in a lot of miles in the last couple of months, so 50 in one ride is not going to happen... I will give you all my cycling miles of this week (3-8-10 to 3-14-10) as b-day gift.

First "installment" was 20.5 miles on Monday.

what is the weather supposed to be like??  they are asking for rain here, i can totally try 50 but don't want to in the RAIN!!!

I would LOVE to do it, but they are calling for heavy rain Saturday and Sunday.

You can have whatever miles you want out of the 70+ I've already ridden this week though.

Its gonna be cloudy and rainy here too... will at least be riding in the same weather if not the same country! It wont be 50 miles but you can have whatever I manage!

Been raining all day and temps have dropped.  I will be racking up the miles on the drainer!

Got 15 of it completed last night --- 35 to go!

OK, got 10 more done today. Celebrating Judy's 25th...

WOW!

Well I managed 49.75 miles.  I don't have a cyclometer and was improvising the route so I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to come that close to the 50 mile mark.

The first 20 miles was really hilly...most of the 2600+ ft of climbing was in that first section.  It definitely took a toll on my legs.  I had to stop and stretch the knots out of my legs a couple of times during the last 20 miles.  A friend of a friend rode with me the first 32 miles.  She really really struggled with the hills, and had to take quite a few breaks so the ride took longer than I anticipated.  We started at 8:30am and I finished at 2 pm.  I figure that I spent about 5 hours on the bike. 

I am once again reminded that it is a gift to not really have any weight issues.   The gal I was riding with has been working getting fitter, but was probably carrying 30+ lbs more than me despite being a similar height.  She hadn't done much hill riding previously so what do I do...I started the ride with a hill that was more than 2 miles long.
