But I've decided regardless of what I'm able to acomplish for training I'm at least going to show up to the start line and give it my best. |

Every time the Ironman App automatically posts on my Facebook I think "OMG... why isn't it 365 days away?" Happy training to all of you... and to the person who had surgery - good luck! There really is lots of time, but I'm stress case about it. No nightmares lately, though. |

Member 50 Winnipeg | Subject: RE: Ironman Canada : Official Thread Wow yes its March 1 and the real countdown begins, Less than 190 days. for this 56 year old Clysdale is a little too close. I've been training about 12 hours a week on average and bought myself a curt trainer to get my bike milage up and that seems to be really helping. One of my big must do's was to drop some weight and I am on schedule actually ahead there and it seems to be just coming off now. By race day I plan to be way under the clysdale weight somewhere around 190 I hope. Still a little scary when I think of the full marathon after a pretty full day. Ran a 1/2 marathon on Sunday and was basically a training run but starting to build. Soon as I get back from holidays I start a full marathon training program which peaks for fathers day then I'll be back on the full intermediate plan till race day. Good luck everybody and look forward to hearing from you. |

I'm training around 8 hours a week right now and working my way up. I'm not even remotely a Clydesdale, but am also hoping to lose weight just so that I don't have to carry it on the marathon. We can do it! |

Yah probably pretty dumb waiting this long, but I've been running constantly so it may come back quicker. I hate the trainer so much. |

Regular 87 Vancouver | Subject: RE: Ironman Canada : Official Thread I was wondering, does anyone know any good IM Canada training camps? I found one, but it's the same week as Vineman 70.3, which I'm doing.
I'm about 9 hours a week training right now. I'm a school teacher, so it will be survive until June and then kill myself. |

Scott McMillan has a camp that's probably the one that conflicts with Vineman, but he lives in Penticton and does regular group training sessions there. I'm pretty sure he allows people to pay a drop in rate and join his sessions. His website is factor9coaching.com You can always just do your own camp. There are people training in Penticton all summer long. Cheers! scott |

I had a question about the official hotel site. I think last year it was at that resort by the lake, does anyone know where the official site will be this year? I wanted to reserve early for my family and figure easier (but probably more expensive) to stay at the host hotel.

DJ Hey there, you can try it, but i have to think its full. I volunteered in 2010, and on sign up morning there was a line of people waiting to get reservvations at the Lakeside -same host hotel. FWIW, there is a strip of hotels on the beach right there. I booked my room the day after IMC 2010. VRBO is very busy as well. From what I've been told, you can still find some accomodations right now... but I've also heard that come the summer time is when the cancellations happen. Good luck |

Subject: RE: Ironman Canada : Official Thread Good morning everyone....My first IM, but have been doing 1/2's and Oly's for a few years....Just wondering if anyone can send me a link or program for a a solid training program....Reader's Digest version?....I have been training for this since Nov of 2010. I signed up and paid good money for a trainer that supposedly came with great qualifications and high recommendations....I just competed in a 6 hr mtb race this past weekend and had to pull out after only one hour...I was absolutely spent and hurt...(lower back and right hip)...Totally devasted and feeling like this training program I am on has failed. I am currently swimming 3000m, biking 110k, and running up to 30k on my long weeks....I have the CDA full marathon coming up in two weeks, and have lost confidence in myself and my abilities, as well as all faith in this trainer and this program....I've shown my training schedule to a few others that have competed in IM's and they are all saying that I have been overtrained.....Feeling fatigued a lot, but not sore....(thinking that that is part of the training process..). I wanted to send this out there before I make any rash decisions regarding my current training....Wanting to send an email to the trainer with her walking papers....so frustrated... Thanks in advance for any input..... PS. I'm not looking at merely finishing the IM....My goal is to finish strong with a decent time of 10.5 - 11.5 hrs...I have strong finish times in my previous tri's with finishes in the top 1/3 of my age category. |

Regular 87 Vancouver | Subject: RE: Ironman Canada : Official Thread Sorry I've been out of the loop. I've been very busy at work, but things are settling down now. I'll keep up from now on. I'm at about 15 hrs a week, but my swimming is way too low. Road my first 100 last week. Still only running about 13 for my long runs right now. I was overtraining and backed off quite a bit for two weeks. I feel good now. My first race is Sunday (Onion Man Olympic in Walla Walla, WA). It's going to be so cold. Hope all you guys are well. I'm wanting to go up and ride the course in June. Anybody want to join in? I'm thinking about maybe the last week or July 1 or 2. |

Master 1681 Rural Ontario | Subject: RE: Ironman Canada : Official Thread I guess I'm a little late to the party. IMC '11 will be my first full as well. I just rode my first 100km ride this weekend and I'm only running about 35km/week, so I feel like i'm falling behind on my plan. This weekend I'll go for a 120km on Saturday and a 21km run on Sunday.

Member 50 Winnipeg | Subject: RE: Ironman Canada : Official Thread Well all the count down clock is under 80 days so its coming up fast. I took a week off of training last week and wow did it ever feel good and this week I feel great getting back into it. My training is going pretty well I get about 90 % of the program done for the most part. what I am skipping is some of the strength training now as the bike and run demands are increasing. Have done a 20 mile run and a few 18 mile runs so now plan to hold it there with two long runs a month till IMC day and getting my bike time in the saddle up. Last week end was a 65 mile ride and this week-end will be a 70 mile ride so we are gettting there. a little nervous about the hills as here in Manitoba we don't have a whole lot of mountains to train on so just doing hill repeats and some heavy work on my trainer to try and replicate. The swim should be fine nothing flashy but get the job done. Heading off for a swim now so good luck everyone and look forward to hearing how others are doing with their training. |
