Are we going to post the methods we are using to change the body composition or does that not matter?

My biggest thing is NO NUTELLA or peanutbutter unless they are recovery after a hard effort.  Followed by more veggies less fruit.  That's  it so far.....I am sure there is a whole lot more room to tweak things

I had to give up keeping peanut butter in my house because I was convinced the serving size should be half-a-jar while being eaten with a spoon, no need to waste calories just to eat it with bread.  Now I only eat it in the single-serving packet from Justin's nut butter.

My crazy new nutrition plan of 1550 calories a day breaks down as 70% lean  protein, 20% carbs (low sugar content veggies) and 10% fat.  Yes I know this is a lot of protein, but it's just for the beginning portion so the percentages will change as my body responds.  I will be doing more weight training and shorter higher intensity cardio.

I'm going to see how it goes for a few weeks and adjust accordingly, so please don't judge. This was given to me by a friend who is a body-builder and a food scientist.  He has given me an explanation/science behind the program.  I like playing with my nutrition like this to see how the results go.

If you want to see what I'm eating, send me a PM and I can add you to my friends list.

I raced a HIM yesterday and my body likes to "bloat" for a few days after, so I'm giving myself a few days to weigh-in and do measurements.

Alright, here it goes...  I was traveling across the country the last couple of days. However, I picked up a pair of calipers at GNC just in time to get some measurements.

Date of Measurements: 7/29/11

Weight: 203.2

Abdomen Fat: 24

Chest Fat: 22

Thigh Fat: 24

Estimated %Body Fat = 20.58

Lbs of fat = 42

Goals:

1) Get body fat to around 15%

2) Stay with marathon training program

3) Swim three times a week (starting after the second week in August, when I get back from my conference)

4) Take dogs for a walk more consistantly

5) Tackle yard work (I've been gone for a few months and the yard almost looks abandoned).

6) Start writing one dissertation chapter (for my academic and mental health)

7) in three months, be approaching or at 190-195lbs

I initially weighed in at around 215 after this past winter and have whittled away to the 203-ish range that I am fluctuating around now.  I ran my first sprint tri May 1st and have been busy with field work for the last few months (I somehow got some decent running and biking volume in).  I plan to run in an olympic tri in Sept (my first ever open water distance swim) and can do the run and bike distances alone.  I am most nervous about the swim and getting to the pool three times a week ought to get my butt in better swimming condition again.  I have yet to do a long swim completely in freestyle (I switch to breast stroke when I get tired) and I feel that I would do much much better if I could just keep at it on a consistent basis.  I would ultimately like to be around 190 or 185lbs.  I have not seen the other side of 190lbs since the beginning of high school (I was under 200 for the last half of 2008 and have not revisited the "100's" since then).  Thanks Cameron for putting this up and thank you everyone for the support yet to come!

Cheers. -t

I'm being very aggressive with this challenge. But the goals are fairly simple.

Weigh in the 130s
Body fat sub 25%
Fit into my favorite size 6 jeans

Currently:
Weight = 163.4
Body fat = 39%

I'll be using the air force method of measuring body fat which is the same as the chart I posted the link to previously.  I took a lot of pictures, but I'm going to keep most of them private.  Its embarrassing to see how much damage can be done in just one year when you lose focus.

Good luck everyone! Let the games begin!

Good morning all. I got on the scale and got out the tape measure. So here are the numbers:

Weight:217.0  BF% 36.8 from Tantina Scale
R upper arm: 14
L upper arm: 13
Chest:42
Waist: 40
Hip: 46
R thigh: 26
L thigh:26
Goals:
#1 Lose 24 lbs, eat clean. Stay pop free. Cut extra fat and no snacking except for recovery for workouts longer than 1 hour

#2 Keep a good frame of mind: DO NOT TALK MEAN OR NEGITIVE TO MYSELF!

#3 Do scheduled workouts and have at least one "just for fun" day. Have fun at my races and work to MY best effort

#4 Most of all don't obsess too much, jump around schedules or try to do what I know is too much too soon. Leads back to      injury and quitting. Take at least 1 rest or mental health day a week.  Hug the Hubby and the dogs alot.

I will post pics  latter

Okay, I'm in.

I wasn't going to... I'm not usually good at these kinds of challenges.  But - gotta keep trying, right?

I will take care of the specifics (measurements, photos, etc) once I get home.

I also have to think on exactly what I want from this challenge.  Weight loss is the easy one that comes to mind -- about 10 pounds probably -- but I wouldn't be unhappy with not losing that much weight as long as my measurements keep going down.

Like a lot of people, I don't own calipers (and am skeptical of my ability to use them consistently anyway) so I'll do the army thing that's linked to on here.

Hi All -

Didn't think I was going to join due to 2 vacations (middle of Sept and end of Sept/beg of Oct) and a possible surgery (waiting on a neuro consult) but I am going to give it a shot. Maybe it will keep me honest on vacation and it will give me something to focus on while I wait to see what they are going to do to me.

This morning -

Weight - 147.2 (Goal is mid 130's)

Neck - 14

Chest - 32

Waist - 30

Hips - 36 (Can you tell where I carry the majority of my weight? Goodness)

Thighs - 23.5

According to the army body fat % link posted before - being 5'6" and the above gives me a BF% of 23.7% (Not sure I believe that since I think the pics show A LOT more).

I have taken pictures and attached them. They really tell the story - sorry about the lighting - will work on that.

Goals - reduce the amount of crap in my diet, reduce the BF% and Weight #, keep moving as much as I can. Simple goals but the hardest ones are the reducing the crap eating and keep moving.

Ok so here it goes:

Goals:

1. to eat when hungry and not my normal IM training sched (which was all the time)

eat mostly fruits,  veggies, lean protein, lf yogurt, whole grain (when training more than 1 hr)

2. Have a positive attitude about myself!!!! Really focus on my mental well being

3. Give my rt foot the deserved break it needs from running- I accomplished my "A" race in May (IMSG) and during training dev what I believe is a stress fx. Still not fully diagnosed but pushing for a bone scan.

4. Enjoy my journey to enjoying the bike/swim aspect of tri's and also focusing on building strength by core/lifting/yoga workouts

So I will post pics as soon as I can (prob thursday morning before i leave for fl). So excited to start this journey!!
