She's an amazing person. Glad you are here! I see you are coming to Elma, WA of all places haha are you from the BC area? Yes, just across the border in BC. Funny story the Elma Tri. Was looking for a race in April, couldn't find any in town, so looked a little further. Came across that one in Elma, which is a town I have visited with SO--there are often agility trials there. So checked the agility calendar, and yep, there is a trial the same weekend. So, we both get to do what we want, and go on a little road trip together. We are both so busy, so have to think outside the box to find time together. |

Partner does agility with dogs, so we get to support each other in respective endeavours. I got into cycling and then triathlon because (1) Hannah the lab did agility with me. She had an ACL injury and was rehabbed and retired. (2) Emma the golden did not want to do agility. She is not what you call a high drive dog. She wanted to visit her Public. I started cycling and then cycling and running and then why not the whole thing? In the meantime, Em grew up. She might make a different choice now but I did agility with her and then my husband tried and same thing. *Calgary HIM, July 29, Calgary, AB The day after Vineman! A busy Manatee weekend for sure! Yeah, the goldens can be difficult to inspire! I think they are a bit of the princesses of the dog world! Good that you found Tri to occupy your time |

Such beautiful people. Please give my best to Fotis and Artemis. It particularly impresses me that you have met me, seen me at my worst, and it's not like I was particularly nice to you, and also you know how mad I am, and yet still actually want to be here ... then again, there is the smokin' hot redhead Salty and our other panoply of amazing Manatees. This new Manatee pod is still in the Staging Area. Once we get released into the wild of BT, we'll be front and center as usual on the current Mentor Group threads |

Master 3888 Overland Park, KS | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - Open Oh Oh can I join the Manatees ?????????? Oh, here's my story.... Story: Realized how unhealthy I was 4 years ago and started on the fitness track. With the help of a trainer and swimming lots of laps I lost 50 lbs between 2008 and 2009. Did my first tri in 2009 and it stuck! I swam 2 years in H.S. ('84/'85) and ran cross country my senior year ('85), average at both. Family: Married, 2 kids, 12 and 15 Current Training: Just trying to maintain a swim, run and bike somewhat, I've got a trainer, just haven't set it up yet, my basement's a mess, got to clean that up first. 2011 Races: Ran my first Marathon, completed my first 70.3, completed my first OLY, then did 2 more, in that order hah! Also ran a 15K and a HM in the fall. 2012 plans: Will do the 70.3 again to get my revenge on the run course, am already signed up for an OLY in May, not sure about the rest. Weight Loss: Not paying attention to it, I figure if I keep improving my times I'm good to go. Love this sport, love seeing others achieve their goals.

I think they are a bit of the princesses of the dog world! Good that you found Tri to occupy your time I think that maybe she was just too immature. And also I think that Hannah may have told her stuff. When Em became an only dog, she had a Total Personality Transplant. I don't know how much was Em being lazy and just letting Hannah do the heavy lifting or how much was Hannah using Mind Control over her younger sibling. I still miss Hannah. Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - Open I would love to be part of this group and honored as well! Yay manatees! Family status: married, 2 dogs. The dogs listen better than the husband! Current training: at this very moment, taking a few weeks off to heal up an Achilles issue, but otherwise training for my first sprint (of the year) in May, a few other sprinkled sprints throughout the summer and an Olympic in Oct. I also have a few running races thrown in the mix. Oh, I guess that kind of covers 2012 races, too! This is my 3rd season of doing triathlon and I want to make it the best yet (ahem, Achilles, take note and heal quickly!). I am hoping to drop some more weight to make my speed pick up. At 5'10", I am an Athena and will probably always be an Athena. I also (try to) balance ice hockey and Tae Kwon Do with my tri activities.

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - Open Family Status: I am married with three boys at home, 16, 11, and 5, two dogs, a lovely, lovely cat (my princess), and five adult step-children. I work full time as an English professor and college administrator, but I'm giving up the administrative part of my job at the end of May (yeah!!!) My husband teaches computer science at a different institution. My oldest is "home schooled" which means he takes three college courses at my school and studies biology and math on his own. My other two are traditionally educated. (Well, the little guy is still in daycare, but he'll go to public kindergarten in the fall.) We live in a 100+ year old Kansas farmhouse on the edge of our small (pop. 2500) town. We love to travel within the continental United States; (I have a fear of flying and avoid it when I can). Current Training: I was running focused in the fall and topped out at about 25-30mpw. Over Christmas, my whole family got sick, and we passed it around and around until the beginning of March. Training was tough this winter, so I feel like I'm just now getting back into it seriously. My goal is 20-25 mpw running over six days; cycling three days per week; and swimming four days per week. I don't do strength training like I should, and I wish I made more time for yoga -- I always feel better after 45 minutes of breathing/stretching. Last year races: I started a C25k program in January 2011; ran my first 5k race around April 1, and signed up for a triathlon for June. I ended up completing three triathlons last summer, then turned to running iin the fall -- a half marathon, 15k "trail" run (on Kansas dirt roads), and a 10 mile turkey trot. I also did a number of 5ks. 2012 Planned Races: I am planning on a sprint triathlon a month (roughly) beginning next weekend (April 15) and going through September. In the fall, I want to turn back to the running races -- hoping for the 25k trail run this time. Biking is one thing that my family will do with me, so I am hoping to do an organized ride with them in May. Weight loss: I have 15 vanity pounds I would like to lose. I'm at the top end of acceptable weight for my age and height, but I want to be at the low end of acceptable. Since I started running in January 2011, I have lost around 30 pounds. |

Probably a good choice taking some time off for your achilles. That's not something you want to mess with! Also, super cool you play ice hockey! Me too, although it happens less than I would like! |

It sounds like you have some fantastic goals. I think fall is a perfect time to transition from triathlon to running, too. |
