No soda, except Ginger Ale for sore tummy

I won't, can't, eat 'soggy' food.  No soggy cookies in my ice cream, no rice cereals (or any quik soggy cereals), no wet bread.

Brains-quite yummy when sliced very thin and fried crispy.  Added to eggs they taste like bac-os.

I've never had the chance to try that.........if they taste like bac-os then they'd go great with some morel mushrooms.  Now I'm hungry.

Yak butter momos. When I was travelling through Tibet, I gave them a try. Never again. I will also include yak butter tea. Heck, anything made with yak butter is probably going to be on my list of "Pass, thanks" foods.

Aside from mother's milk and water everything else is an  acquired taste.

This isn't even true.  I was allergic to my mother's milk and had to be formula fed.

I don't eat:

anything mint because it's disgusting

dairy because i just don't want to?  i go through phases of stuff.  it has had wonderful effects on my asthma, allergies, and it keeps my skin thin, if that makes sense.

liver because it's also disgusting

i try to eat whole/real foods as much as possible.  i succeed about 70% of the time.

I'll eat just about anything, but do tend to stay away from milk as much as possible (unless it's Lactaid) or chocolate (for recovery drink).

Brussel sprouts. I hate those things. They just taste bad. No matter how much cheese or gravy or sauce I put on them they are vile.

I am lactose intolerant but I still eat dairy, just with a lactaid tablet.

Everything else is fair game.

Life is way too short to deny myself foods that I love. I just eat them all in moderation.

I used to have an aversion, until I tried them roasted.  Pretty tasty.

Can't: Gluten

Won't: Beef, pork, cow/animal milk

Heavily limit: Soda, fowl, fish, dairy, gluten free bread

I eat a lot of greens, veggies, fruits, whole grains (oats, brown rice, quinoa), lentils, eggs, sweet potato, beans, tofu, and red wine. If I'm craving something starchy/comfort-y like a pizza I'll make a homemade crust out of almond meal/tapioca starch/eggs and top with a homemade pesto or something.

Mine are all taste related:

Cilantro
Tomatoes
Mint flavored anything because it tastes like toothpaste
Strong mustard
Cilantro
Horse radish sauce
Pepperccinis (SP?- those nasty green things that are sometimes on a salad)
Cilantro
Brussel sprouts
Cilantro

As far as health concerns - I eat just about everything (in moderation). Although, I rarely drink soda. I do love my coffee, beer (bit of a beer snob - Life is too short to drink bad coffee or cheap beer.), breads and pastas.

I love my veggies and my dairy. And I like meat. I'd like to be a vegetarian - it makes so much sense to me on paper, on many levels - but that would mean: no more bacon, burgers, brats, chicken, pork chops or Italian sausage pastas.

I drink a *lot* of water. Water with all meals.

I love my morning smoothie: almond milk, banana, cacao powder, frozen blueberries, ice and honey.

Never.   Pickles.  Most vile substance on earth.  Soda.

Almost never.  Subway

I hunt and fish so I do eat lots of wild game.

Love Fried Chicken and could not stand it as a youth.

I have a short list

  • Eggs in most forms. Unless it's buried in cake or cookies I'm not eating it
  • Mayo. Don't like the taste
  • Yellow mustard. I love all other types, just not the yellow version.

You can imagine egg salad sandwich or deviled eggs would be high on my list of things to avoid.

Otherwise I will try or eat just about anything. I tend to like strongly flavored food and drink more than delicate flavors.

Developed a severe allergy to shrimp about 7 years ago.  Before that it used to be one of my favorite foods.

I don't really have anything I don't eat.  I try to avoid a lot of bad things (soda, fried foods etc..) but nothing on an absolute no-no list.

Oh except cocoanut.  Most vile thing on the planet.

There are a lot of things I don't eat because I find them gross. Too many to list.

But I believe you wanted to know what foods we avoid for health reasons. Basically stuff we want, but we avoid eating. Right?

First off, nothing is completely off limits for me. BUT I do consume the unhealthy stuff in moderation.

For example, I love Pop Tarts. I know they are complete crap. So I haven't had one in probably 3 years. Can I eat one? Sure. But I make the choice to keep walking past them at the grocery story because I know I can't afford to eat them... calorie wise.

I will also drool over ice cream and some cookies in the store. My rule of thumb though is that I can't buy the stuff and I need to go out and buy it. That way, I have to make a conscious decision and there is effort behind me getting it.

Otherwise, most of the stuff I stay away from is simply because I don't want to eat it. Being a picky vegetarian make it pretty easy to stay away from a lot of junk food and fast food.
