went to WI with Team Schmize, came back home with 2nd prize.

Mark - is there a way to find out bib #'s before packet pick up?  (maybe I should be checking the race website for this).  I won't have a chance to post on Saturday or Sunday until I get home.

Oh, and my wife just read the whole thread and she thinks it is all pretty funny stuff.  Except for team two (as in second)'s pathetic attempts to trash talk. 

I will be able to meet up after the race to celebrate our glorious victory see how everyone did and share the stories.  I love talking about this stuff.  I also love cheering in the competitors who continue finishing after me. (note the sig line).  Seriously, Schmize and I are the same way.  Lock us in a room and we wouldn't even notice the door is locked because we'd be talking about tri stuff forever.

Wow, getting married seems like a lot to go through just to get bib numbers.  In Chicago we'd just give 'em some caish! [sarc on/off]

I have a feeling that my wife and Schmize's wife will be camped out with the kids near the finish so we could have them be a check in for people to give their times to if they can't hang around after the race and/or meet at the coffee shop.

By the way, I don't know where everyone is staying (for those of you who are) but Sat after dinner the Hangloose clan is hitting the pool at the Best Western for some playtime with the kids and everyone is invited.  You can wear your wetsuit if you want to try to look cool.

I think I'm also at the Best Western. You'll have to let me know your room number so I can call once an hour through the night make sure to stop by and wish you the best of luck before the race.

And as far as team names go, since Hangloose's team already has dibs on the name "We Gave It Our Best Shot And Still Lost", I think we should just stick with "The Winners" and be done with it.

Yeah, I'm not so good with the trash talk either...I feel like it will jinx me or something.  I think Startingtotri is doing a great job for Team Two (hey-what's our name?) so I'll leave that to her. 

Jowisc and I will be able to hang out for a bit after the race to trade stories.  Although after his team loses he'll probably make up some lame excuse about how we have to "get back to Chicago before the traffic gets too bad" or something.  Whatever....I'm not going to fall for that one.  I'm just glad that we have some people who actually want to talk tri's with us.  Our friends and family members eyes always just glaze over when we try to approach the subject during normal conversation.  They sure don't know what they're missing!

Hey - Does anyone know if Lake Andrea will be open for swimming on Saturday morning?  We're thinking we might do a few laps just to get acclimated...

Ok people, this is a little ridiculous.  I'm putting together a roster sheet for Mrs. Hangloose to track who's who and noticed something.

 We have 2 Laura's, 2 Mark's, and two John's (Jonathan).  Out of 10 people 6 share names?  Sheesh.

You could be the PP Pee Wees?  PP Weenies?  PP Pee Pees?  The "I gotta PP's"?

(I'm guessing at this point that you weren't asking me. )

I think we should call ourselves the PP Weiners. It's funny and it rhymes with Winners... sort of.

But we can still be weiners if you want.  (I'm not even sure how but that just sounds dirty.)

ok, so a ways back the wife decided to crack open the talkin smack door. i'm not going to kick it in on her just yet but i should let you know that i had to drag someone around on my wheel this morning. i got to give it to her though, i almost had to put down my paper and coffee to switch out of the small chain ring....(oh snap! that's right, i went there.)

that and she's already laying the tracks of blame - something about her chain or her gearing or something.

i always thought that "on your left" was a good team name but that might infer that we were behind at some point. and that certainly won't be the case. still there's something smack down about it.

Yes, I will not be using "on your left" (although I like it as a name) as much because I am leaving the horn on The Scarlet Pumpernickel for the race.  We'll see if it gets me beat up, but I'm hoping that most people will realize that it's just funny.  Besides, how many other people there will have a 10 athlete posse with them?  

Side bets on which team?  I'll be examining everyone's logs and putting together a tip sheet for those interested in side wagers. 

Man, you guys are gonna have a blast.  I wish I could be there.  I'm still interested in the Schmize vs. Hangloose smackdown mano a mano fight to the finish line.

I'm conceding that Scott has me by a smidge on the swim, bike and run, but I may have found an edge he can't overcome.  See any similarities in these two pics?
