Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge triingforsept07 - 2006-08-14 1:33 PM Ideas for team names: Why don't we use our unofficial leaders name and call ourselves,... went to WI with Team Schmize, came back home with 2nd prize.

Expert 1148 NW Suburbs, Illinois | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge startingtotri - fantastic swim strategy...really. Grab onto their wetsuits and just hold on. They are both strong swimmers and would be glad to carry you in!! Also - I rode the course this morning and not too much information to give here (if you are on my team, go ahead and look at my logs for some information...the other team don't waste your time). After riding the course, and looking at the logs of Hangloose, jowisc, cindyK, whizz, and tringforsept07, it is clear (I mean crystal clear) that this bike course doesn't fit any of their styles. Nothing against them, but uhm, its just not the best venue for them. The funny thing is, as I was looking at the logs of Schmize, markk, esmies, jschmitchicago, and startingtotri, the course was a Perfect fit for them. Truly amazing, but these people should fly through the course....really. Team 2 - we need a name. If its really creative, and you don't want Team 1 to steal it, PM it to me. I have a couple to get you going: The Dogs of the Prairie, Team Speed (or just Speed), the Octopii (always liked that word)....Help?? Go Team 2!!!!!!!! |

Extreme Veteran 499 Racine WI | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge Teams look good to me. This outta be a lot of fun. Is everyone able to stick around after the race and compare times and experiences? I know that we are getting a pre-race dinner together the night before but that not everyone is able to attend. Will everyone be able to stick around after the race for a little while? We can arrange a time / place to meet. There is a coffee shop right there near the transition area that we can use as a meeting place. Also, everyone please remember to post your bib #'s once you know them. I want to make sure that we are able to cheer everyone across the finish line (You know, as Team 1 finishes behind Team 2 ! I think PP racks IAW your numbers so we should be able to at least say Hi to everyone before the race if we know BIB #s too. It'll be the normal spousal bet for CindyK and I |

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge Mark - is there a way to find out bib #'s before packet pick up? (maybe I should be checking the race website for this). I won't have a chance to post on Saturday or Sunday until I get home. Oh, and my wife just read the whole thread and she thinks it is all pretty funny stuff. Except for team two (as in second)'s pathetic attempts to trash talk. I will be able to meet up after the race to

Extreme Veteran 499 Racine WI | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge Yeah, trash talking aint my area of expetise either, I'd rather talking tri-stuff too! I'll see about trying to get BIB #'s early. If not, maybe we can bride someone during packet pickup to look up names for us and I will be able to post them and give them out at the dinner. |

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge MarkK - 2006-08-14 9:20 PM maybe we can bride someone during packet pickup to look up names for us Wow, getting married seems like a lot to go through just to get bib numbers. In Chicago we'd just give 'em some caish! [sarc on/off] I have a feeling that my wife and Schmize's wife will be camped out with the kids near the finish so we could have them be a check in for people to give their times to if they can't hang around after the race and/or meet at the coffee shop. By the way, I don't know where everyone is staying (for those of you who are) but Sat after dinner the Hangloose clan is hitting the pool at the Best Western for some playtime with the kids and everyone is invited. You can wear your wetsuit if you want to

You can wear your wetsuit if you want to I think I'm also at the Best Western. You'll have to let me know your room number so I can And as far as team names go, since Hangloose's team already has dibs on the name "We Gave It Our Best Shot And Still Lost", I think we should just stick with "The Winners" and be done with it. |

Veteran 160 Oak Park, IL | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge Yeah, I'm not so good with the trash talk either...I feel like it will jinx me or something. I think Startingtotri is doing a great job for Team Two (hey-what's our name?) so I'll leave that to her. Jowisc and I will be able to hang out for a bit after the race to trade stories. Although after his team loses he'll probably make up some lame excuse about how we have to "get back to Chicago before the traffic gets too bad" or something. Whatever....I'm not going to fall for that one. I'm just glad that we have some people who actually want to talk tri's with us. Our friends and family members eyes always just glaze over when we try to approach the subject during normal conversation. They sure don't know what they're missing! Hey - Does anyone know if Lake Andrea will be open for swimming on Saturday morning? We're thinking we might do a few laps just to get acclimated... Is it Friday yet?! |

Expert 1148 NW Suburbs, Illinois | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge Startingtotri - you are funny - good stuff! Triingforsept07 - not so much, since in fact our whole team is participating in the kids race...as volunteers. We figure, we can expend some extra energy chasing the kids around before our race, to make things a little more interesting in this challenge. I am not sure if the swim area will be open, but I hope so. I think Cindyk said something about it being open on saturday??? Some more ideas for names: "The Champs", "Bravehearts" (since we all have HRM and Mel Gibson was in the news recently), "Frontrunners", "FOPs" (Front of Packers), "The Pleasant Presence". Good luck to all in this race, and extra good luck to Team 1. |

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge Ok people, this is a little ridiculous. I'm putting together a roster sheet for Mrs. Hangloose to track who's who and noticed something. We have 2 Laura's, 2 Mark's, and two John's (Jonathan). Out of 10 people 6 share names? Sheesh.

Regular 80 Oak Park, Il | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge ok, so a ways back the wife decided to crack open the talkin smack door. i'm not going to kick it in on her just yet but i should let you know that i had to drag someone around on my wheel this morning. i got to give it to her though, i almost had to put down my paper and coffee to switch out of the small chain ring....(oh snap! that's right, i went there.) that and she's already laying the tracks of blame - something about her chain or her gearing or something. i always thought that "on your left" was a good team name but that might infer that we were behind at some point. and that certainly won't be the case. still there's something smack down about it.

Extreme Veteran 499 Racine WI | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge jowisc, you got it all wrong....see, your wife was actually providing you the aerodynamic push provided the forward rider in a two person paceline. Its a very little known theory that I discovered riding with CindyK (thats my story and I'm sticking to it). So in actuallity, it was your wife who was doing all the work and you were the beneficary to all her hard work. So, you should thank her for pushing you around all morning..... Just ask your wife, I'm sure that she'll agree |

Expert 1148 NW Suburbs, Illinois | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge This is too funny. I love it. jowisc - I will give you that "on your left" is pretty smackdown. Not bad. That is why I also like "bibs backwards" (i.e. Team 2 will wear their bibs on their backsides, so you all have something to look at way ahead in the distance). jsmitchicago - Nice work on drafting and making him work. Not much longer until Sunday!!!!! |

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: Pleasant Prairie OLY Challenge HONK HONK! Yes, I will not be using "on your left" (although I like it as a name) as much because I am leaving the horn on The Scarlet Pumpernickel for the race. We'll see if it gets me beat up, but I'm hoping that most people will realize that it's just funny. Besides, how many other people there will have a 10 athlete posse with them?
