Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? WaterDog66 - 2007-01-18 2:50 PM Says he with the new Garmin Gadget on his wrist well, yeah, it is all about me after all. I just wish everyone else could understand that. Tim, I find today's avatar very depressing. Is that guy ever happy? |

Coach 9167 Stairway to Seven | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? I apologize to everyone. I take back my thread about my licking cat. Seriously...did I miss something major? Or am I just smart enough to not read the threads the look they have nothign of substance aside from political/religious/stem cell research arguments? |

Master 1462 Michigan | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? I used to visit COJ more often. Like other boards I have belonged to over the years this site has the same thing. People who post threads just to post threads. I agree this is supposed to be fun. If people put in as much time training as they do here they would be sub 9 hour IM. If people can't be civil then ban them. What might offend one might not the other. This is why along time ago I made it a point to not get involved in political and religious threads anymore. Just my 2 cents. |

Champion 5345 Carlsbad, California | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? I might suggest that COJ is surely the most well behaved L&O Forum that I have seen. Just wander over to RWOL, RT or if you dare, Runango (A site created by two L&O Peeps) and you will surely run back to the safety of BT |

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? Bill - 2007-01-18 4:48 PM Like triathlons! With the "post count to triathlon" ratios of those who start many of the threads in COJ, you may have to explain that one... At first I thought this was a shot at me. I tend to be defensive around tough guys with giant biceps. Then I realized it wasn't. Then I realized it was! j/k FWIW I think Lara raises a valid point worth thinking about. I think that as inane and dumb and whatever else you want to describe some/most of COJ can be, we (those who consider ourselves regular members) are responsible for preventing this site from becoming like those others that we all know are out there. Sure, a lot of us occassionally post something that isn't 100% ok dokey. I thought the snorkeling in the snow pic would get pulled but it didn't. I didn't think that one picthat did get pulled today should be pulled. Oh well, whatever. I'm glad its not up to me anyway. Mike does a fantastic job with his management of this forum. And of contacting the individuals who regularly cross the line (been there, done that) and letting them know when enough is enough. If they don't listen then they cease to exist here. Have I sufficiently straddled the fence here and made no point whatsoever so that we can all go back to our stupidity, our obnoxiousness and our highminded debates? p.s. please email all banned pics to me for immediate destruction.

Champion 5345 Carlsbad, California | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? Oh, Sorry: L&O = Letters And Opinions RWOL = RunnersWorld Online RT = RunningTimes Most online forums have an L&O Section where just about anything goes. Certainly nothing remotely like a Moderator is present. Things can and usually do get quite Snarky. When RWOL imploded last year, two L&O Peeps created Runango and it is of course, totally unmoderated. It got so bad that RWOL added the word Runango to their "Exclusion List" One of the things I really like about BT is that it is "almost" devoid of Snarky posters and trolls. (Nice to not have to deal with trolls baiting every thread you post) Sorry, just an outsider's point of view I guess |

I think this is in response to a thread where someone pointed out that COJ no longer has a Monderator (But I could be way off base here) Of Course, Marma immediately "Delurked" and posted a response to the OP He is surely the all knowing and all seeing Uber-Moderator. |

Elite 2733 Venture Industries, | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? hangloose - 2007-01-18 5:07 PM Lara - 2007-01-18 3:59 PM Has anyone else notice that Don and ASA are missing?? Some of our best thinkers and debaters are gone... There's got to be a reason for that.. CoJ SHOULD be the kind of place they want to come again.. Do you know that there is a cause and effect to what you are proposing here? If people are goofy in goofy threads, that's one thing. If they are jacka$$es in threads that are trying to discuss serious issues in an intelligent way that's another and I could see that would chase away people who like to engage in those threads. I don't think I've seen much of that at all. And I believe I've seen posts from ASA recently.
Mike Vick = Ron Mexico... |

It might remind some folks of the Partrige Family but it is actually the inspiration for the paint scheme for my road bike. (Team La Vie Claire) I will try to dig up a happier Bloke Later... Thanks for your input |

Champion 5345 Carlsbad, California | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? Yeah, I have to agree with you there. (On the Welcomeness of the cycling community) Luckily the Tri community is a lot more welcoming to outsiders. Oh, and don't get me started on Rodale and their stupid IT Department. We went through the "Software Change" over on RWOL last year and it just killed the group. About 1/3 of the peeps moved over to RT but a great many more just gave up and dissappeared Several peeps cornered Bart Yasso at Chicago and he admitted that it was a huge mistake. I really miss some of my friends... |

Champion 11641 Fairport, NY | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? Thanks you for the kind words, folks. I think "CoJ post count to triathlons" ratio would be a VERY interesting metric. Maybe later. Ron bumped up the latest delivery date. The route thing is going to have what we think will be a VERY cool elevation graph. It's not going to use the same charting software you're used to seeing here. Lots of possibilities.

Elite 2552 Evans, GA | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? Once again 'the tradgedy of the commons' is clearly displayed. This is why communism fails. Would you all start posting more tastefully and carefully? Your carefree shinannagins are ruining my search for enlightenment. Sometimes the stuff is funny, sometimes it's bawdy, sometimes it's serious, sometimes it's too serious. I love it! If you don't like the way the post is going close it. I've had lots of great reads here that have broadened my knowledge and some that have tickled my funny bone. It's the variety that makes it so cool. P.S. thanks to Daddy for nominating me for funiest post of the week in the Vick thread. It nearly rivals my moment of monkey cyclist flinging poo genius. Edited by Bluejack 2007-01-18 6:13 PM |

Champion 6627 Rochester Hills, Michigan | Subject: RE: Do you enjoy CoJ???? It plays this way...I tolerate, enjoy, relish, and rebel against opinions based on the subject. And more often then not, COJ gets me thinking or laughing, whether I post or not. It's a good place, full or thinkers and people with solid positions. Jim, Matt, Scout, Hollis, Phoenixazul, Max, Dontracy, Courtney, ASA, you name 'em, they've posted some pretty insightful stuff about themselves, and the world. I lose interest when it's a random thread, freeform to post what folks are thinking, or feeling, on a daily basis. The threads lose their compelling factor, aside from the folks that There. It's out. Enjoy. |
