I enjoy the parts of COJ that make me think, make me learn something, or make me laugh.  I could do without all the inane things that serve little purpose.

I'm just more selective in what I click on these days.

Well, obviously I missed something interesting today.

But, yeah, I enjoy CoJ, I try to play by the rules, and I still find it to be one of the most civil forums I've encountered on the internet.

And I like welshy. He's a PITA sometimes, occassionally impulsive and inappropriate , but not too bad. He's basically a good guy.

I have nothing to do with PITA and eat meat on a regular basis. For the record.

It plays this way...I tolerate, enjoy, relish, and rebel against opinions based on the subject. And more often then not, COJ gets me thinking or laughing, whether I post or not. It's a good place, full or thinkers and people with solid positions. Jim, Matt, Scout, Hollis, Phoenixazul, Max, Dontracy, Courtney, ASA, you name 'em: WELSHY.

What's the matter with you boy? Don't make it weird....

the bear - 2007-01-18 5:47 PM   Maybe CoJ should be subdivided:
  • A "Substance" subthread for the more serious of you;
  • An "Adult" subthread for the more offensive of you, and;
  • An "Inanity" subthread for the "Thread Killers."

Main Entry: 1inane
Pronunciation: i-'nAn
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): inan·er; -est
Etymology: Latin inanis
1 : EMPTY, INSUBSTANTIAL
2 : lacking significance, meaning, or point : SILLY <inane comments>

WTF?  Is there another Scout somewhere that I'm not aware of or something?

I reserve the right to jump from one subthread to the another at my descretion.  Some days I like to be irreverent and others a curmudgeon.  Depends on how much coffee I have in the morning and other factors.  Plus some posts just scream out for sarcastic responses...

Thanks you for the kind words, folks. I think "CoJ post count to triathlons" ratio would be a VERY interesting metric.

Metric ratio??  Is that different than a ratio in english units.  Besides, this is America and I'm simply appauled that a METRIC ratio would be used.

of course the metric system is, overall, an easier system as it's all based on 10's.   10 mm to a cm, 100 cm to a m, 1000m to a km.  Let's see, 12 inches to a ft., 5280 ft. to a mi., 128 ounces to a gallon.

On second thought, go right ahead and use a metric ratio if you think it will be easier to understand.

Like others on here I find that sometimes I need a good laugh and CoJ provides that.  I even enjoy participating in the stupid threads on occassion.  Keeps me young!

You had to look up "inane"? Isn't it nice how they put your picture next to the entry?

You can't fool me, I know you're not trying to keep your sanity (like you have some to keep!), but rather you're trying to steal everyone else's.

I didn't have tolook it up but I wanted to make sure the definition I agreed with was there.  {The picture was a bonus or a payoff to get me to stop}

You are correct that my sanity escaped me several children ago but....I have yours in my sites.  Wink

Besides, statistically speaking, there is ALWAYS going to be that 10%.

Word. Some people can't help themselves.

Huh.

For the record, I did not post anything offensive today and when I do it's one of three pictures I find hilarious but that could be offensive to some. It was made clear to me recently that one of thise pictures in particular was not to be posted again and I responded with an immediate "ok" without excuse and then with an apology.

It's easy to become dissaccociated from your actions in this type of medium and I'm certainly guilty of doing just that. While I don't know what happened today (was in a meeting), I do feel a measure of responsibility for nudging Marama, but from my perspective it was more good natured than may have been percieved as we've been on the site for some time and I viewed him as another member instead of a moderator and that has not been fair:

Mike, I'm sorry.

Just pokin' fun, Welshy.  I know you can take it.

I enjoy COJ. It has a little bit of everything: serious social topics, relationship advice, politics, humor, mindless fluff. It is all good. As multi-sport athletes don't we all like variety? My only problem with COJ is that it interferes with me being a productive member of society. Anybody else have that problem?
