tricupcake - 2013-02-16 9:31 AM The only thing I can think about now is that my bootie is killing me.  Seriously, when do spin seats start to not feel like a special form of torture?  And because the seat was so uncomfortable, I leaned a lot of my hands which made my wrists hurt.  I'm going to go back next week, but I feel a love/hate relationship with spinning starting.
First of all, I'm sorry to hear your news about your mom. Glad you got the ride in, spinning is great for letting go of the emotions. Don't worry, the booty pain goes away after a few rides, you just have to stick with it. Took me a few rides, and I will stand up out of the saddle for a bit of relief if I have to. Chin up, you can do it, and get through this.

Love Rox in Richmond.  In fact, you could safely skip most of the RMS races without missing anything.

Where do they do their races? I stick to the VB and OBX areas, usually. No tunnels. Lol

Richmond, you should be fine in the area you live to avoid those races.

Yeah... Richmond is a bit over a 2 hour drive for me.  More time than I'm willing to invest to get to a race.  With most races starting set-up around 0600, I'd have to be out the door at 0400.  I don't even go to work that early!

And now, some news:

Yes, folks, it's true.  I am officially as bad a$$ as I think I am... Today, I ran 10.11 miles in less than 2 hours, at a pace that had me on par to have run a half marathon in 2:14:03!!!!  During this run, I was at 31:05 at the 5K mark (PR) and 1:03:31 at the 10K mark (PR) AND I've never run more than 8.1 miles at a shot before.
Basically, that's my longest run ever, a PR 5K, and a PR 10K (BW, that's my 3rd 10K PR in 2 weeks) all in less than 2 hours.  "Operation Breezy Point Domination" is coming along rather nicely!!

Up almost 4 pounds, blaming Valentines Day and race weekend. Hoping most of it is water & it will come right back off.

Yesterday was the first day that I was REALLY tempted to have a sugar binge.  Last night I had my shoes on, keys in hand ready to go to the store and buy some candy.  I looked at the door and told myself, "if you resist tonight and still want candy tomorrow, it can be a cheat meal".  I took off my shoes, put my keys down, and ate an orange.  Don't really feel like having candy now.....so 49 days of being sugar-free, the streak continues.

It is never too late!

Okay here goes,

Mini- Goal: Stop eating candy while at work and stop eating
snacks out of the vending machine. I don’t have this crap at the house so I
only eat it while I am in the office. No more fast food for lunch dinner or any reason

Long Term Goals:  Get in shape, stay injury free, get down around  or under 215lbs by summer, and most importantly have FUN doing it. I had lower back surgery in January of 2012 and I am just now
getting my confidence back to start working out again. I herniated my L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1 and had a micro discectomy to regain full use of my left leg. The year before I blew up my lower back I broke my arm while training for a 24 hour mountain bike race and the year before that I broke 2 ribs in a road bike accident. Now you can see why I want so desperately to stay injury free.

Nutrition:  I am using the My Fitness Pal app to track my intake daily and I so far I am staying under
the calorie goal the majority of the week

Weekly Weigh-in:  1/30/13 I was 250lbs As of this morning I am 243. I will have to take measurements tomorrow.

Pictures: I have taken them and they will stay on my phone.

Cardio: I am attempting to swim 3 times a week. Each swim is getting better but I am far from calling myself a swimmer. I am run/walking 3 times a week with a 5k race planned in April. I am using the couch to 5k app to help me get there.  I will be riding two times a week as things progress.

Strength: Because of my lower back surgery I am focusing on core strength and overall strength. I am back to indoor rock climbing and trying to work on planking and on and on. I am not sure where to include Yoga but I am trying to go to a class once a week. I do not want to go back to my old ways of heavy compound movements (bench squats deadlifts just yet)

It has been a physical and mental beat down. While I am glad I took some extra time off I am frustrated having to start over yet again. I am trying to remember to ease into it everything and build intensity as I go along. There was a point where I actually considered selling my bikes and just being a fat couch potato and not hurting anymore. I got kicked in the arse by a dear friend and he pointed out that I was depressed because I was not working out and to compensate for that I was eating like crap and that was only making me more depressed. He stayed on my butt for a month before I drug my butt to the gym for the first time in over 18months. He was right all I needed to do was take the first step and every step while hard will be easier than the first one. I am not sure that I am triathlete just yet but if I am going to be swimming run and riding why not look into it. It is something that I keep kicking around every couple of years so why not give it a shot

That's some will power!

Lately I've been eating a few dates to keep my sweet tooth away. Not sure if that counts in your "no sweetener" category but they sure hit the spot for me.

And speaking of sugar, I am doing a Whole Life Challenge where no sugar is allowed (regular, artificial, honey, agave, cane juice, nothing) - not even in the form of fruit juice unless you eat the entire fruit. It's soooo eye opening! EVERYTHING has sugar... from tomato sauce to bacon/sausage to pickles (really, pickles?). Everything.

Kudos to all of you who did the whole month of January and beyond!

Yep I believe it's the same folks. Here are the rules

And wouldn't you know it - today I mentioned I was cutting out sugar to a co-worker (when offered Valentines candy) - he came by later and put a Hershys Kiss on my desk and laughed. I know it's all in fun, he's a class clown type - but come on. I shoulda just said NO THANKS the first time and kept my mouth shut! I threw the kiss in the trash can

I had a donut yesterday morning.  I think I have lost my mind!  I've got to get back on the low-carb wagon again.  I didn't do too badly for the rest of the day.  A couple of scrambled eggs with a side salad.  And then chicken with a salad.  The good thing is that I felt quite sluggish after the donut, so hopefully I will remember that feeling the next time the craving strikes.

I might have to give it a try next month. Or the Whole 30 but have to end the day before easter because between coconut cream pie and "helping" my son with enjoying his easter basket I will fall I know!!! I agree with others trying to temp you. My son is almost 2 and he does not do it on purpose he just likes to share is food. He kept trying to shove cheerios down my throat yesterday and I did end up eating a few...cant hurt his feelings.

That is a great challenge, but there is no way I would do the food part. I think eliminating all grains is not great nutrition. I also get a lot of my protein from dairy (vegetarian) so that wouldn't be healthy. Other than that, it looks great.

Up 2 lbs on my weigh in this week, sucks seeing the increase but I'm not concerned, had a couple of larger meals the day before the weigh in.

Different strokes! It's working out great for me, even as a former vegetarian. Hardest thing for me is getting used to eating meat every day and having to food plan - but me and my tummy feel amazing so far

Was out and about on Friday and hate posting from my phone.  But was up 1 lb. at 207.  Good news is warmer weather is here so training is really kicking in.  Truthfully I haven't been eating too poorly, but I am a big wuss when it comes to training in the cold.  Got out on Sunday for my first ride in the great outdoors.  Looking forward to many more.

Also start training today with my 6 y.o. son who has forgone spring organized sports in favor of running a 5K with dad.  Should be some fun.

I am familiar with the whole 30 challenge is this something similar ? I have noticed a few people talking about this Whole life challenge just trying to see what it's about?

Yep I believe it's the same folks. Here are the rules

And wouldn't you know it - today I mentioned I was cutting out sugar to a co-worker (when offered Valentines candy) - he came by later and put a Hershys Kiss on my desk and laughed. I know it's all in fun, he's a class clown type - but come on. I shoulda just said NO THANKS the first time and kept my mouth shut! I threw the kiss in the trash can

That is a great challenge, but there is no way I would do the food part. I think eliminating all grains is not great nutrition. I also get a lot of my protein from dairy (vegetarian) so that wouldn't be healthy. Other than that, it looks great.

Different strokes! It's working out great for me, even as a former vegetarian. Hardest thing for me is getting used to eating meat every day and having to food plan - but me and my tummy feel amazing so far

EXACTLY!! which is why I shake my head when I read articles that say "everyone should follow this plan" blah blah blah. It only works if it works for YOU!.
