Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS)--OPEN Originally posted by firebert ON - Terribly sorry to hear. There is a lot going around right now. I'm the only one in my family not sick. Hopefully this weekend is better! Mike - Sorry to hear about the setback. Glad to hear you're taking it in good spirits though! Plus it's only February so you can turn this thing around and think about a race later in the season right? Bike - finally figured out how to resize a photo. Here's the new one, before the aerobars. I'll have to get an aerobar shot too.
John: Nothing like a little bike porn to make a trip to church to pray for my sins (lusting/coveting) necessary! Congrats on the new steed! |

Your PT's plan seems very similar. Even if you don't opt to do the challenge, the website (and book, even more so) is a great resource for ideas for what you CAN eat. Thanks! The change in nutrition is the hardest thing so far! |

Veteran 1677 Houston, Texas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS)--OPEN Had a great training week, finishing off with a long run yesterday in perfect running weather and a long ride today on the Galveston 70.3 course with pretty good cycling weather (a bit chilly, but much warmer than Saturday....cross wind with a slight tail wind on the way out and head wind on the way back in). Snagged a Strava QOM....wasn't targeting it (didn't even know it existed....I don't really use Strava, but Garmin Connect automatically transfers to Strava and TrainingPeaks for me) and figure I can crush that time in the race where I'm doing steady tempo power the whole time, and not tempo intervals with easy in between I'll be watching the Superbowl tonight and partaking in some beers. I don't have a vested interest (Seahawks fan over here ), but figure I'll root against the Patriots. Hope everyone else had a good weekend and enjoyed a couple beers! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS)--OPEN Worked out really hard today in ways that I hate.... Spent and hour on the elliptical to protect my plantar fascia. Then I aqua walked (my pool is 4 feet deep) and then swam for 15 minutes. The no carbs thing is bumming me out on Super bowl Sunday. No beer for me so I hope the rest of you are imbibing some tasty beverages. My coach has me off all beer and booze. In fact - it's one of his requirements that I give up drinking. If I drink and he finds out - he told me he would drop me. I know he's doing it to help me and I can't say no. He's coaching me for free... but it's a real tough change. I figure it will be worth it when I cross the Boston's finish line but right now it blows. As for the superbowl - Pat's win by 10 (I'm a browns fan so I've got no dog in this fight).... Onward... 1941 , Vermont | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS)--OPEN Wow, what a crazy second half. I truly thought the Patriot were going to get crushed...Ryan lost that one. I'd like to see that last touchdown again - looked like the knee was down to me, but they had 3 more downs so my guess is they would have gotten it in there. Say what you will about Tom Brady...5 time Super Bowl winner...he is decent! I ate burgers and homemade chicken wings for dinner...surprisingly no beer...had to make up the calories somewhere. |

Simply amazing. I find it just difficult to believe... that you didn't have any beer last night Me neither. New diet - new rules. I had a burger as well. Man did it feel good! Are you a Pats fan? It was an amazing game. Ryan did play his role but Tom Brady was incredible! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS)--OPEN It's time for the goals of the week! DQ - Lock down nutrition for new diet, core work (instead of yoga - hope that's ok Nicole) for 20 minutes daily, and work outs as called for by my trainer, and get fund raising going for Boston, baby! |

Juan That's too funny. When I was discussing the recovery from the surgery with my doc, I told him I needed a plan. LOL |

Getting through SB weekend without wrecking your nutrition is a win in of itself. I, on the other hand, am apparently trying to gain the most weight possible in 60 days. |

He was totally reckless in his approach - I don't think he threw one ball away to avoid a sack the entire game, and was running backwards every time the pocket collapsed. And that play calling was borderline criminal behavior. "Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory." |

2126 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS)--OPEN I had a crazy weekend of birthday celebrations. I also am back up to the most I've ever weighed. I'm not drinking for at least the next 3 weeks, save for possibly a glass of red wine here or there. Need to get my eating back on track too. I feel super gross. My core is feeling good though from my special core work! Did 15 minutes Friday and Saturday. Going to do it again tonight and tomorrow to get my 4 days in for the week. DQ, since you can't drink, we have to rethink our penalties! I went to bodypump on Saturday and did not get a workout in yesterday. Going to masters practice tonight. Bodypump and possibly Sprint tomorrow. |

16 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS)--OPEN NAME: ctpeel/Collin STORY: I am turning 30 years old this year and needed a goal. I used to run cross country and was on a swim team when I was younger but let myself get lazy during college etc. Over the past 4 years or so I do think that I have done a pretty decent job of staying in shape. I like to run, swim, lift weights etc. This year I decided to actually come up with a goal to strive for. I could feel myself getting a little restless with my life, job etc and thought this would be a great way to keep me focused and healthy both physically and mentally. FAMILY STATUS: Married for 4 years. No children. Wife is active with me but we do have different backgrounds and I want to push myself a bit more. We have a beautiful 3 year old dog daughter. CURRENT TRAINING: I found a 16 week Olympic distance plan and I am going to stick to that. I think it does each discipline 2x a week and I am going to mix in 3 days of weight lifting. I will see how I feel though and change that if it's too much. THIS YEAR'S RACES: 2016 Did no races UPCOMING YEAR'S RACES: I plan on doing Olympic Distance CAPTEX triathlon in Austin, TX. Memorial Day weekend. WEIGHTLOSS: To be honest I am a pretty lean guy. I don't need to lose weight. I would like to maintain my weight while improving my endurance. WHAT WILL MAKE ME A GOOD MENTOR: For me I'd like to just have some other humans to ask questions, push each other, etc. Just looking for some accountability while doing all this. I don't really have anyone to train with here locally so looking for a little internet camaraderie. |

Veteran 1677 Houston, Texas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS)--OPEN Originally posted by Qua17 Congrats on the great training week and the great ride on the 70.3 course. How'd the new bike work out? The new bike is awesome! And I'm finally getting back into long-ride shape, so I'm worthy of the bike
70.3 WC is being held in Chattanooga this year, and for the first time ever, they are running separate men's (Sunday) and women's (Saturday) races. Based on my results from last year, I was invited to race the women's race this year. I was hoping to qualify at Galveston 70.3 in April, but I was offered a guaranteed spot, so I am officially registered and going to Chattanooga in September! |

I've actually driven by the Jester brewery a few times going out hiking etc. I need to make a stop sometime. |
