Boy, I'm hearing a lot of tough talk.  But talk is cheap.  We will see who is left standing at the end of the day.  Dream Chaser, please just spell my name correctly L*e*a*h when you send me the gift certificate.  Don't worry guys, I am a gracious winner.

I am so impressed with you all who have no dings! I didn't even eat much sugar before the challenge and I already have 2. I agree with Abbie though, as long as I bring my body fat percentage down during this challenge I'll consider myself a winner

The good news is I am down 5.2 pounds and I am back on the wagon.  I'm actually enjoying black coffee now ...go figure

It must be all of the yoga you are doing now a days.

hard core you folks are!  by the way, I can't stand how all the parents keep dumping baked goods THEY don't want in our faculty room. Makes me feel like we're a bunch of pigs at our feeding trough!

The thing is, people do eat it!  I'm trying my hardest to avoid it....too bad the potty is only accessible via the faculty room. ugh. But I'm doing a good job with that...

now if only I can stop eating FATTY foods.

People in my office are evil.....they just baked fresh oatmeal cookies in the toaster-oven!  Thankfully they burned them and I'm not tempted, but the office smells of sugary goodness!  Uggg, the evil people i work with!!!

I decided to start eating breakfast every morning (a lot of times I skip it).  Ensure has been an easy thing to grab in the morning because I can drink it on the way to work.  I looked at the ingredients today and realized the second ingredient is sugar!  I never noticed that there are 19g of sugar per serving!!  Had it not been for the challenge, I don't think I would have checked.

Great job paying attention to the labels!!  FYI, 19 grams of sugar = 4 teaspoons!!!

Artemis,

Ensure is my favorite pre long workout meal. I tend to stay away from solids even on long bike rides so it is perfect fuel for me.

Are you drinking it pre or post workout or just as a breakfast?

Sometimes just as breakfast.  I often eat it pre-workout or pre-race, too.  I have problems with solids before training in the morning.

I found out that my health insurance 100% covers 6 visits with a registered dietician every year.  I found one in-network that specializes in sports nutrition, so I scheduled an appointment for next Wednesday.  Hopefully, she can give me some ideas, as I think my problem is that when I eat healthy, I restrict my calories too much simply because healthy food tends to be low calorie.  This causes me to not lose weight.  When I eat some (I'll emphasize the word "some" unhealthy food (mostly sugar), my calorie intake puts me in the range I need for weight loss.

When I was successfully losing weight for most of 2008, I was tracking my calories in a food diary and allotting 2000 calories per day as a base and adding estimated workout calorie burn on top of that.  At 1800, I wouldn't lose weight.

Hopefully, this challenge and the dietician help me become healthier.

It's coming on as I type this.  I just hope this season that all of the contestants recognize that the main prize is becoming healthier, not just the money.

That's pretty cool!!  Nice to have it converted into something I am more used to using to measure sugar.

My challenge is going real well for me, water and OJ are all I've had to drink. I have a couple of cases of soft drinks out in my garage fridge, and not one desire to grab one. I feels great to be off the sugar with exception of a couple dings and the use of my mulligan.

I did watch most of the biggest Loser tonight, my six year old wants the pink team to win, she also wants the other team members to come back from home. She is so sweet and caring towards others, she was kind of sad when they were sent home.

Someone left chocolate covered almonds in the office kitchen.  I went in and looked them, was not even tempted to have 1!

I also went to Starbucks this morning and as I'm listening to people order theirenti, sugar-loaded, caffeine fix along with their morning pastry, I wanted to yell "do you know much sugar you are eating?"

I'm eating an apple right now -- so sweet and delicious.

I love the smack talk!!  Keep it up!

I honestly believe I feel an improvement in my trainings already from having less processed sugar in my body.  It's hard to tell because I am still slowly ramping my training up due to recovery from a running overuse injury, but I have a good feeling that this will be very good for all of us from a training standpoint.  And I just don't mean due to the weight loss - as we all know lighter means faster, in most cases.  But I truly think our bodies will perform and recover better.

I have no Smack talk to contribute, but thought I'd share the entry from my blog yesterday and the photo (taken on 12/31/08) that started this exchange.  (Note that I have been obsessed with working my abs for a few months and take pics to keep me motivated)

"Classic proud mom moment.....last week I sent my mom my latest abs pic (my parents live in NJ and have not seen me since Oct).  She told me today "everyone is so impressed by what you have done to your body!  They can't believe it!"  I say, "um, mom, who is everybody?"  She says, "oh everyone at work and your aunts.  Of course they also think your nuts for giving up sugar, but can see the results so far."  I suddenly had the mental image of my mother walking around with her cell-phone showing everyone my abs' pic.  Thankfully my mom works at a pharmacy so that only accounts for about 8-10 people.  Ahhh....mom, classic moment "
