Yeah 508 would have been one of the last swimmers in the pool, and it was seeded by 100 times.

It's hard to look cool I think getting out of the pool.

Is a snorkel legal?

yes, under USAT.  Specific races can say they won't allow them, if they want to.

That's the first time I have ever seen anyone wearing a snorkel during an actual race. I wonder if he had training wheels on his bike ?????

At the pool yesterday I saw a guy swimming with a snorkel.  He definitley was a swimmer, had a great/beautiful stroke and all, so I figured he was working some drills.  Never seen it before, but thought it was interesting.

just to be clear, a usat race (director) can only do this with written approval from usat received prior to the race.  they can't just go changing rules.

edit to add and not directed at you tony... i'd like to see an example of this happening.  show me one and i'll show you an rd with a lot of other things he/she needs to worry about.

no problem.  you did catch my edit to the post right?

the rules are the foundation of this sport from which we go forward.  it absolutely amazes me how many people don't know them and then cry about about a violation afterwards.  do you need to know each and every rule.  no probably not,  P section (usat) to me for example, is not applicable, fortunately!   the most commonly violated.  yeah.  should you take all of 15 minutes and read through the all rules. yeah.

same goes for for athlete guides at races.  you are responsible for the info in them.  how hard is that to understand?  yet every race someone is crying about this or that.  watch how many people pass on the shoulder in galveston. illegal sure but how about  freakin' stupid and dangerous.

Hello everyone.  Sorry I wasn't on the boards these past few days.

Kim, all my love goes out to you and your family.  AND SUPER JOB ON THAT HALF.  You are my hero!!

John - do you see who is starting off the season on the podium?  I wouldn't get too hyped up in that trash talking if I were you.  Way to go SAM.

Tony and Stan - way to be stellar, as usual.  Great job boys.

Glen - I second what everyone else said about climbing hills.  Just be patient and find your happy place.  And remember to change your gears at the top our you'll be flying down the hill out of control and not having your gears in place to help. (not that I've ever done anything that uncool)

Speaking of uncool - Kim, I DON'T PEE ON THE BIKE  just in the wetsuitWink   I'm not talented enough to where I'd have a shot at placing where peeing on myself is necessary.  It's different in the water somehow.  (besides, everyone does it, I'm just woman enough to admit it

Speaking of peeing in the water, have you ever tried to pee WHILE swimming?  That is very difficult and takes serious muscle control and lots of practice. (Hint Doug, don't swim directly behind me at Jordan).  This is a useful trick for long races. It means one less pit stop on the bike.  This only works for long, open water swims for those of us that plan on being in the water for longer than 40 minutes.    There, now everyone has one more skill to master for their open water swimming sessions.

Sorry, I'll shut up now...........

Your points are valid, especially about the people who complain when they haven't read the rules!

I think I have seen it a few times, people on ST bring it up every so often (I'll check Wikipedia).  Just like some races won't allow you to have your shoes clipped on the bike in transition.  USAT allows it but specific races say that you can't due to people being stupid and looking down at their shoes instead of where they are going and crashing into others.

Short version:

Kim continues to be a ROCK STAR.

Sam and Tony had a great weekend, with Sam getting a podium finish on a great run.

Some pic were posted of a tri with an indoor pool swim.  Some funny ones including a guy who wore a snorkel.  Posts about whether the snorkel is legal.  Then posts about reading the rules and athlete's guide.  Posts about knowing the rules.  Posts about the fact that shoes not allowed to be clipped on at Lonestar.

Trevor and John going back and forth with one another about editing each other's posts and who is slower to respond with a quick retort to the other.

I think that catches you up since the weekend.  Sorry if I missed anything/anyone.
