Ok here are a few funny pics from the weekend. First is my Robin costume.

Now I was wearing that costume while I did this run profile, HA!:

and lastly, I went out to have "a drink" with a friend who just hit a major milestone in the hiring process for the Seattle FD. Anyway, for them "a drink" turned into a whole boot of beer at the German Pub then off to the Chinese-restaurant-turned dance club by night where they were having  a costume contest and I found this guy:

Complete with the "blue sky"

Looking forward to reading your report Ann-Marie.

And yes Chris, it's amazing the different levels of focus as you move through the pack. Holding some of those paces takes almost as much mental effort as it does physical.

At this point I am convinced it is ALL mental.

Heh, I wish ...

It is for me. But I think I go through stages. Physical, mental, back to physical, etc. It kind of goes along with the plateaus that I see in my training, I think. I can see where you probably have the mental aspect pretty well beat and are working pretty dang hard on the physical right now.

Nope, it's both. All the time. I don't think you ever have one aspect mastered. There are always improvements to be made.

I think it was Kienle that talked about the mental aspect during the Kona coverage on Saturday. He basically said it is both. He said having mental strength doesn't help if your legs give up. But I think for many AGers we could improve A LOT by working on the mental side of the training. I know I could.

I do some training sessions where that is all I am focusing on. The mental aspect. In fact, treadmill sessions are pretty good for that.

I'll ride a bike alongside and yell at you like a drill sergeant.

Actually, you should some time. I'm going to need a bike pacer for some tempo sessions.

Janyne, how is the weather by you? I know Jen is in some crappy stuff and it got me thinking you are probably a bit south, but still affected.

Anyone heard from Kirk, I think he is in it as well?

Day 3 of high wind.  It's 20 mph now.  We are too far inland for the rain bands so we have had less than 1/4 inch.

High winds are predicted to continue until Wednesday morning.

Keep in mind that I am about 120 miles inland.

I have not heard from Kirk in weeks.  Charleston is pretty far south of the storm but he may be seeing some affects.  It's a big storm!

They have other contests with freebies all the time too.  I ran 100 miles in a month awhile back and won some free Gu.  That's like your everyday so it should work out

Speaking of costumes, masques, drama and such ...

Please forgive my brother, whatever your political affiliations. But he does have a really cool (and he really is that smart) dog. The dog, not the brother.

Pretty much the only election material worth watching anymore ...

I love inaguaral events, you just show up and god willing you end up with a podium spot.  Our team got third.  The team name was my idea, the three other guys on my team have done full Ironman races, I'm the half.  My average pace was 8:44 and our 2nd leg ran with me at my pace for 3.6 miles then our last runner ran with me for another 4.5 miles at MY pace so had we RACED this I think we would have given the Honey Badgers a run for their money.  And speaking of Honey, on about mile 12 of my leg is when some sweet honey of a runner passed me.   Her attire looked like a soccer uniform.  I only got pace booty for about a minute or two.  There were only maybe 40-50 teams and I was alone for the first 12 mies until I saw her.  I said something like, "this is a lonely race".

Way to go Reece. More bling in the Manatee trophy cabinet ( if you don't mind some of us living vicariously)

Had a great run this morning - just felt good, light on my feet, felt effortless - did 9km.  Maybe too coz the weather was awesome, the moon was like a huge dinner plate hanging in the sky.  It was about 70 degrees at 6am.  perfect.

Noosa news for the weekend - yeah I get to meet Macca - Coach Johnny is coming up too (definitely what happens in Noosa stays in Noosa!) and then I read today that in the Olympic distance who's lining up...

Crowie, Macca and Pete Jacobs - 3 IM World Champs - I will get millions of pictures!

Storm mostly missed us.  We had some rain and wind, but nothing too bad.  Never lost power, which tells you how bad it wasn't; we lose power a lot during storms.

We got pretty lucky.  I feel silly for buying 5 gallons of bottled water and digging out the camp stove, but at least we were prepared.

Thankfully we didn't get hit as hard as the were talking it up to be here (at my house/town), either.  My house didn't lose power, although my bro who lives at the other end of town was without power for about 4 hours.  Just a little more water in basement than usual after a heavy rain.  The branches that came down were not too big and didn't hit anything.  It's still kinda windy today, but I think for the most part it is over.  Well, the storm, that is.  Flooding of the creeks and rivers won't top out until a bit later today.

Glad my fellow East Coast manatees fared well.

I'm contemplating either running outside or biking on the trainer later.  Too much crap on the roads to bike outside.  I've been really slacking with my training, part of it was as planned but I didn't intend to slack off quite this much.

Jen, better to have the water than not!

Melanie, glad that you didn't lose power.  That's no fun at all.

Hiya Manatees!

So glad the storm missed Jen and our other East Coasties! My niece only had a couple short blackouts. Whew.

I am on day two of HIM training and glad to be back at it! I was scanning Active and saw a 5k/10k/HM near my brother's house north of Denver this Saturday. I've been homesick to see my family, and this weekend is my beautiful niece's 5th birthday. Ah my Georgia girl ... So anyway, i'm tempted. The HM sound really cool with the course and the heart shaped medal, but I've got no business doing a HM. Especially after 3 weeks off, right?Innocent But of course, that's the one I want to do! I suppose the 10k would be ok too Yell

DOOOO EEEEET

Look, there's no reason you have to RACE the HM. Walk a good bit of it and have a grand time. Or yes, the 10K ... still not too hard, though ...
