Comments:

Woke up at 6:30, showered, got into costume. Woke E up, got her changed, fed, and into costume. Packed up the stroller, walked out the front door of the hotel, and we were in our corral! Only had about 10 minutes before the race started, so we took a few pictures, and hung out in the back. Lots of fun costumes especially all the strollers with kids.

First part of run was pretty calm. Once we turned on to the boardwalk it was a lot tougher - wind was in our face and we were getting sand in our eyes. Not so fun. Ran into the wind for about 2.5 miles. That was the hardest part, especially with the stroller. Had to walk a little with E during this part because she got fussy. We had a lot of people - especially kids - be excited about us dressed up as the Incredibles. Very fun. When we turned back onto the Boardwalk at 40th, it was better because the wind was at our back.

Skipped the beer and the candy stops during the race. Didn't seem like such a good plan, and I am not a fan of candycorn any way.

My wrist got pretty swollen during the run and really started to hurt around mile 3. It was wrapped, and I don't think I wrapped it loose enough, but didn't want to mess with it during the race.
What would you do differently?:

Not have wrist surgery a week before; my wrist ended up getting pretty swollen and sore by the end of the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked through crowded finish area to get a medal, water, food, and cup. Then walked about 1/2 mile back to the convention center and our hotel. Stopped and got a beer and some chili before going back to the hotel to shower and drive home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wind!!

Event comments:

Did a great job making changes at the last minute to deal with the impending hurricane. Overall, it was a fun race. There were tons of people in costume and spectators out cheering and handing out candy. Would definitely do it again.

Omigwash. CUTEST FAMILY EVER!!! Heck, even the baby is cute

That's some really good time for being in costume and towing a kid and stroller along. Healing {MELON PRESS} for the wrist and for warmth and safety!

Sounds like you had a really great race - except for the whole wrist surgery 1 week before the event thing! Great costumes!

Mr. and Mrs. Invredible, Cool!  Glad you had fun.  "...they're machine washable darling, that's a new feature...."  I loved that movie.  Was there someone wearing a Syndrome costume you could beat up on?

Great job with the race, Jen, and great costumes!  So sorry to hear  your wrist was bothering you, I think you are one tough chick for even racing 1 week post-surgery!  Hope it continues to heal nicely for you.

Nicely done!  Pushing a stroller during a 10k is no small feat... especially with that wind and a sore wrist!  Very cool costumes too!!
