Expert 2555 Colorado Springs, Colorado | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles I wanted to get at least 20 miles last week and was almost there but life got in the way. I will try again this week. So far it's going OK. I am finally over 200 miles for the year. Seems pathetic for me since only two years ago I was hitting that month almost every month. I've been keeping my runs in the 3-5 mile range for now as I build back some running fitness. Today was the first time I actually felt pretty good in the last mile. Long ways to go to catch the pace bunny. |

Champion 9430 No excuses! | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles I am woefully behind on this but finally starting to get my consistency back with my running. If things go as planned the summer will help my total a ton and we should be back on track come fall. |

Expert 2555 Colorado Springs, Colorado | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Argh! I tweaked my lower back yesterday on my run. Today I could barely walk and had to come home from work. Researching the symptoms it appears I may have either sciatica or piriformis syndrome. Both seem to require full rest. Just when my running was starting to get back, now it seems I have to take more time off. Hopefully either my self diagnosis is wrong or it isn't as bad as it seems and I will only need a few days off. The last couple days it's been extremely windy and I had to strain to get through. I think that may have caused the problem. |

For me, stretching (camel and cow) helped and then a interactive massage where she put me thru the ringer. I don't know if your issue is the same as mine but I wanted to mention. Hope you get better soon. |

I repeat that about 10 times and it seems to help loosen up the tightness a bit. |

I'm about 60 down and will be another 20 after this week of anti-training (fishing with the boys). Chips, slim Jim's, beer, pizza, etc :-). I'll get back at it next week. |

Elite 6387 | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Well, I finally did the math, and it is impossible for me to get a 1000 miles this year. Still probably 6 weeks out from possibly being able to run, and who knows how fast I will be able to ramp up. I figured I could do 40 mpw which I was comfortable with before, but I do not know when I will get there, and there just isn't enough time. It a bummer when it goes from improbable, to just impossible. I'm not sure where to go with my challenge from here. Perhaps I could subtract the time I was not allowed to run and make a modified goal. .... but I really wanted a 1000. I can go for walks now. I have just been doing a half mile or so. I'll do 1 mile a day next week. See how that is. |

Once you have, you likely will be able to see your next milestone without any trouble. |

Extreme Veteran 544 Shawboro, NC | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Didja miss me? I didn't think so. Update on my progress: I'm back on the horse and doing good. I am almost 160 miles behind the rabbit, but I'm collapsing the gap. I have 287.05 miles for the year and 39.37 for the month of June so far. June WILL be a 100 mile (or more) month. I've calculated that if I run about 5 miles a day on 2 of every 3 days, I can get 1000 this year. Good thing I have some triathlons, a Spartan Race, a Hero Rush race, and a marathon planned for 2013. Wish me luck! |

I bet a few of us would join you. |

Actually... that would be pretty awesome to get a 1000 by my surgery anniversary next year... it would keep me off the couch for Winter... I'm going to roll that around. That is possible even with off time. For now, I am going to sign up for a local Fall series, and I am going to do a HM in December I have done once before. I would love to beat my time and that is more than possible. Went to the doc today and he said I could get on my trainer... but the spin bikes at the gym might be better. Walked a mile and a half today. Slowly but surely...Edited by powerman 2013-06-11 1:03 AM |

Veteran 151 Coldfoot, Alaska | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Yeah I'm back. Been back for a month or so. We're evacuated from the Black Forest fire. Right now the house is ok - but the fire is just south of the house and the win is supposed to blow it north. So we are kind of in a waiting period until this afternoon to see how bad it's going to be. |
