There are always rumors about the best athletes...until I see concrete proof I don't believe any of that crap.  Can't someone just be an amazing athlete without people questioning they must be doing something illegal?

So what does everything think about her chances of actually racing Kona?  she looks pretty beat up to me.  I hope she's in, but still....

PS. Good luck Linda.  I think you're wise for going to the doc and probably even wiser watching from outside that third coral. As Dino always says to me, eye on the prize....you have a lot going on this year.

Unfortunately too many people have said "I'm clean" and then been proven otherwise.

I remember having this converation last year. Lance?

So I guess your approach is too assume everyone is guilty until proven innocent?  Helluva way to go through life.  Call me an optimist or naive I still believe people can train hard,  be stellar performers without being accused of using drugs.

No,no,no. I agree with you. It's just getting harder and harder (that's what she said) to believe anyone. I am an optimist as well, but its so hard when so many people after the fact get proven to be cheating.

Baseball players/track stars/TdeF definitely are the forefront. Other than Nina Kraft that Andy mentioned, really we haven't seen any other pro's in Tri World test postive for banned substances have we? Couldn't part of that reason be that really in the past there was no incentive to cheat? There wasn't any money in doing so. But as the sport has grown, and more importantly to the pros, the Dollars available continue to grow, there is WAY more incentive for them to get a 'bit' of an edge.  It's reality. Whether its sports or real life( ie, trading commodities) they allure of the dollar is a big incentive for some.

Poor Chrissie...road rash and salt water...OUCH!  The rumor PED talk is crazy talk when it comes to her...IMO.

C'mon, John, the only thing distinguishing between my right calf and hers is my tattoo.

Are all bike shop guys laid back (or extremely busy)?  I had to call the bike shop in Madison to make sure they shipped the bike and to get the cost...twice.  And they still had no idea of the cost.  Hmm.

And then after seeing the package was signed for here by my trusty guys, gave them 4 days to call me and then finally called them and they were like...OH?  You are back?  (ummm, for like 2 weeks!!!)  We'll have to get that case opened up and put it together.  We'll give you a call.  Hmmm...need my squeaky wheel, where is that Suzy when I need her.

You have got to be kidding me!  You just got your bike back today?  That is so ridiculous....I figured Mike would ship it out the next day....did it go by scooter?  You should have told me, I would have driven over there.

Linda--very sorry to hear about your back and the compensating issues.  Really feel for you, but you can heal and be ready for that BIG RACE!!!!  Have faith.

Holy Cats!  It is time to talk racing again!  Who is ready for some action? share the details!

For those of us not racing, have you been doing anything special to recover from the season? share it!

I'll kick it off!  I am not racing per se, but I am doing the annual Tyranena Bike Ride which is sponsored by a brewery close to Madison.  Hitting the 50 miler and the best part is NO ZONES.  I get to just enjoy the day with buddies I didn't ride with all summer long.  Woo-Hoo!

PS.  I am also going to the WI/NE game that night.  Now that will be competitive, with half the box full of Badgers and the other half full of Cornhuskers!  Rumor is nearly 40,000 NE fans are flooding Madison and the fans will be wearing black instead of red to keep them straight in the stadium since both teams sport red and white year-round!

Me again! I have a Sprint on saturday. I have never done this race but it looks like fun. I leave the next day for Germany and will be gone for 10 days. Gonna run, (try and swim) and use exercise bikes where I can. My A race is 10/29 so there is no let up in training!

I had just read his story last week. ALS is such a weird disease.

Michelle's Aunt has it and has lived with it for a few years now. Hers has attacked her body very slowly. The hardest part is the brain is still working, but the body slowly shuts down. And the inconsistency of it is the hardest part. We also know someone who has it, and within a year he now has a feeding tube and is living in a wheelchair.

Dislike!!! Stinks is not the word for it!! So sorry, sweetie. Let us know how the MRI, etc. goes. Big hugs!! You have plenty of time to heal up, and your training has been so rock solid thus far. Chin up! Wish I was close enough to drink a "this sucks" glass of wine with you!

I'm in for a race.  Wineglass marathon on Sunday.  First attempt at 26.2 miles!  Expecting to be a long day but will be very satisfied with finishing!!  Kris is running it too so we will probably run together for a bit in the beginning and then if I am feeling it I will pull ahead.  The races is a net elevation decrease so hopefully that helps!!  Race map

Getting on a plane on Monday for Japan so hoping I am not too sore!!!

Good luck to the other racers/leisurely riders!

The photos from last sunday's race have been posted. As much as I do not like them, I may have to buy them as they took a lot of the finish between me and Mr. Floppy! Most races I have 2 or 3 photos. Here there must be 10! Some are really bad. I look demented in a couple (more so than usual).

If you're that sore just drink some of the wine and it will help : )

I'm sorry Linda. Take care of yourself.  You have time to heal well and still kick butt in AZ.

I had back problems prior to IMFL.  One injection in my back and less than a week later I was good to go.

Hoping for the best for you.
