After spending the last 5 days here running down on Ali'i drive... THEY ARE ALL FAT!!!! Screw them all! !!!

No clue how do to post pictures here from my phone, but I will email them off to other's and let them post them... Weather is going to be HOT AND HUMID tomorrow!!  I am more concerned about my 1 yr old in the heat than those racers !!

The "real" pictures won't be posted until I get back from Hawaii.  They are on the CANON!!! Yes John... I said CANON!!!

Is there any way to watch live video of Kona? What time will it start? I am not sure if IM live will stream video or just blog.

Ironmanlive.com and Universal Sports both do streaming video the whole day.  There is a four hour time difference in Hawaii versus CST so it must be around a noon start for me.  I won't see much of it with satellite internet up here and then driving home later this afternoon.  Someone email me the female lead and winner!

My brand new pro to watch and root for is Jackie Arendt.  I took a couple of her swimming classes last year (she teaches them with her mom--cute, right?).  She is the sweetest kid (25ish) with a lot of talent having taken second in St George and Louisville in her first few races as a pro.  Hope to see her in the top 10!!

Just sayin......... T Plush crazy in the MKE last night!!

I'll play.  My Kona Predictions & thoughts:
Men in order =  Crowie, Vanhoenacker, Raelert (its supposed to HOT and Leito will crater on the run? again?)
Women in order = Chrissie, Steffen, Rinny  (Dibens & Ellis may still be players but won't podium?.... tough race to call this year behind Chrissie unless she has a mechanical)

Off to go fall off my bike with 50+ friends while listening to some Irish Rock!

Speaking of close, any news from your race today, missy??

What an awesome finish. A nail-biting tear-jerker for sure. Chrissie is purely awesome. Crowie ain't no slouch either.

Very VERY cool race day out there.... Probably took over 500+ pictures out on the course...Weather was PERFECT for racing and I think it showed with times on the course today!!!  My brother in law rocked out an 11:05ish or so... With a bad achilles injury.  Hasn't ran in months!!! He's a machine! I am not sure what is harder though... Cheering everyone on or chasing around a 1 year old !!!!

What a great race yesterday!  I am still so amazed by the mental toughness of so many of the athletes, Chrissie, Rinny AND Caroline Steffan. WOW!

The amazing weather continues in Wiscosnin.  Back home and biked in shorts and a tri top again today.  I'll take it as long as Mother Nature is willing to give it!

How's are our racing phenomenons??? any details?

I watched the race on German television. They showed the same feed as Ironman Live, but it was about a minutee ahead of the Internet feed. The annoincers spoke German so I had to rely on the narration from MJ et al. It was fun to watch. My friends finished in 11:21 and 10:20:50.

Did not get up until noon here and then went out to run. Turns out the Munich marathon was today. Someday I need to run this race. Anyway I ran 12.5 miles in the cold overcast day. All along the Eiser river.

SSMinnow - 2011-10-09 12:37 PM    How's are our racing phenomenons??? any details?

I don't know if it qualifies as being a phenom but 1st Cross Race for me yesterday & I got the complete "cross" package which included:

  • A broken front derailer on the first lap
  • 2 good crashes right by me, one in the sand pit and one on a camber turn.  I stayed up but got hit by a guy in the sand pit crash which caused-
  • Some blood flowing down my leg from a cut on shin from crasher above handlebars
  • A muddy/wet/& dry course depending on where you were.  (How do you get the Mud out of a White jersey? Who on our team decided to have white jerseys anyway?)
  • MOP Finish (8/21)
  • Great Fun
  • Good music (Live band playing during the race)
  • COLD BEER!!!
  • A new addiction!

Loved it!!

Hi gang we are back in VA.  Too tired to post much at the moment.  Flight was delayed last night so we didn't get home and to bed until 1 AM.  Up at 5:30 AM for the Army 10 miler.  Some how after 3 days on my feet, eating and drinking like crap and 4 hrs of sleep, I ran a PR by about 3 min.  Not sure of my exact time but I think in the 1:21:xx range.  My Garmin dropped single a few times under the bridges.

Looks like everyone had a nice weekend and are enjoying some nice weather.

Good weekend for the Aussies!

Crowie fantastic as usual, Australia beat South Africa to progress to the Rugby World Cup semi-final.

I had a look at Craig Alexanders website, he weighs 68kg and is 180cm tall but looking at him he looks fairly solid; must have a naturally athletic physique. I'm currently 75.1 kg (182cm tall) and I was wondering if I could be lighter and still look athletic, obviously could.

Someone on one of the ironman threads said they know they're at race weight when friends start asking if they've been diagnosed with the big C! I don't think that's the image I'm after!!!

Congratulations, Dino! I think you and Tony are crazy, though.

My trail run wasn't nearly as eventful (I didn't wipe out once and there was no beer), but it was fun and it was a beautiful day for a run through the woods.

Crowie ran by my when I did Racine a couple of year ago.  He's smaller than he looks on tv and very lean, but not emaciated.   I was so impressed by his performance and how humble he was at the end.  So obvious that his family means a lot to him.

Didn't Sam race this weekend?

I actually had a good time on the bike this weekend.  I participated in a Tour de Femme all women charity bike ride for cancer.  It was great.  I think in my night before preparations I was refusing to commit to anything that had to do with training;  I only brought one water bottle, no gels, no bike computer, I even carried a camera with me.  It was great.

I'd forgotten what it was like to ride with a large group of women.  With the men it is mostly hand signals but these ladies were calling out everything, "SLOWING, STOPPING, CAR UP, CAR BACK, HOLE, TURNING, BOTTLE, HEY MARCY WHAT'S UP, MY BITS AND PIECES HURT, etc"  It was kind of nice. Not to imply guys aren't considerate riders, just not so chatty.
