You guys are awesome!  Ty's hanging in there - meds are helping!  He's nervous, but anxious to start the healing process.

A very good friend is going out of her way to bring my bike (and her trainer!) tomorrow, on her way to a HIM in AZ.  THEN she's picking it up on her way home Monday!

I've never used a trainer, should be fun.  Sealed

It's been good having this time with Tyler, there's always a silver lining.

Thanks for all the encouragement, means alot.

From the FB photo's it looks like he is being well taken care of : )

How could you have never used a trainer in all this time?

Linda:

I was just kidding about the trainer on FB, but glad it is working out. I hope all goes well with Tyler and the healing is quick.

Steve:

ST has started a new forum for posting pictures. You have some awesome pics from Kona. You mightwant to consider posting them there.

How about this little 7 year old swimming across the Golden Gate...to help raise money for her previous pre-school teacher...and going to school afterwards?  So amazing...click on the photos, it shows the length really well!  No Sharks Allowed.

Wow. What an amazing kid. So awesome!! Thanks for sharing that Kim!! Now I'm going back to my couch with my fever-stricken daughter, a book, and some SpongeBob (I am so over that sponge! Also over iCarly and Big Time Rush. Never over Loony Tunes. Over having a sick sweetheart, though!).

Amazing.  Is there where you swim Kim?

Andy, if you look at a lot of Kona photos of the underwear run you will see those girls all over the place.  They have skulls on the front of their "you-know'what".  Some hot, some scary, but all very fit.

Hey!

Back to the hotel with a very dopey kid!  Surgery went well, but it was worse than they anticipated when they opened him up.  Apparently, he also tore a ligament and tendon.  Break was also bigger than they thought on the fibula.  Bigger plate, 7 screws.  Lots of pain.  Recovery will be a bit longer.

Got him a wheelchair, loaded it into the back of the Rent-a-jeep.  On top of the BIKE (and her trainer) that my friend delivered!!  Any suggestions for a nice thank you gift?

He's going back and forth between 'I love you' and 'why won't you buy me a new gameboy?'.  So much fun!!  We are not, however, dealing with Spongebob, so I guess I should count my blessings!

I've never ridden a trainer because I live in California!!!  Doesn't look to difficult, we'll see.

You can get a nice sweat cover for her bike that she can use while training. Mine has pockets on the front for the remotes. I think it is made by CycleOps.

No racing for me this weekend. I'm working all weekend on a basement renovation.

I'm keeping up with some training mostly cardio kick boxing, strength trainig and running. I found a new workout plan also called TRX. It's a suspension training system and is great. You use you're own body weight and can make it as easy or as difficult as you want. Great for the abs as you have to keep them engaged all the time.

I haven't been in the water since my last race at the beginning of Sept. We will be swimming as a club again starting Nov 1 so I better get at least one swim in before then.  It's getting cool up here now so I have already taken to running on a  treadmill after I do personal training sessions at the gym. I did get on my stationary bike at home for a while the other night. I forgot how much I dislike them.

My favorite time for training is early in the day but only after I have had something to eat and drink .

Welcome, Linda, I thought it was a wonderful story. Btw, I don't swim there, the currents under the bridge are often very strong...I swim at Aquatic Park, a few miles east of there, in a fairly protected area. They do races and supported swims from that point over to aquatic park quite often in Aug-Oct. Water is warmer this time of year...58-62ish. Trevor, are you coming out!?

Nice to see you, Rob. Good luck with that basement renovation. Love my TRX straps, used them this morning...outside on the deck...lovely.

Just dropping by to say hello.

Linda, sorry to hear about your son.  Agree with everyone that you are a wonderful mom and so glad you were there for him.  Although the timing probably doesn't seem too great you were in the right place.  And honestly, maybe the timing wasn't so bad.  You had a little more time to heal yourself and this has def taken your mind off of anything else.  Kind of puts things in perspective.  Now that surgery has gone well, you can soon adjust back into training and get ready to kick butt.

Hang in there.  They say what doesn't kill us makes us stronger  Smile

You mean for Alcatraz? I don't think I am going to sign up. I think I've decided to do IMC again instead. I think.

Rode the trainer....don't ever feel the need to repeat, just sayin' that I don't know how you all do this on a regular basis.  Maybe there's a trick I'm missing.  Other than the teenager on the bed covering his head with a pillow, piling on blankets (I had the AC CRANKED and it helped!!) and asking 'how much longer?' every 15 minutes!

It was nice to not wear a helmet.  Is that bad?

3.5 hours plus a couple of 'take care of the kid' breaks.  Can I claim 100 miles?!?
