tricrazy - 2011-10-29 9:47 AM My 10K went pretty well.  My goal was between 55 and 56 and I finished in 55:20.  In hindsight, I had a little more in me but I am still happy.

Great job for a 10k!

My kids did the Noosa kids tri this morning - 800 kids took part - and loved it!I found myself standing next to Chris McCormack, his kids were doing it too. Great bloke, very friendly and natural. We had a bit of a chat about kids etc and then he hung around for pictures with all their friends.GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO IS RACING!!!

This a montage from the school website, my kids are in the shot with Macca:

Awesome on so many levels!

Congrats Andy and Rachel!!!

Awesome pics David and Steve.  Nothing better than kid pics.

John - what can I say except LMAO!!!!!

Well I survived today although I am a bit disappointed.  I really wanted to finish my entire run.  But as the temps started to drop, the rain turned to sleet, I couldn't hold anymore body heat as every inch of me was soaked and cold, I called it a day.  I did get in 5 1/2 hrs. and 30m.  I hope that will be enough for the race.  I suppose it's enough to finish but it may hurt a bit.  I just wish I had been a little tougher mentally.  Oh well - live to fight another day.  Off to nap before our halloween party.

And did I mention that it is snowing right now.  Like heavy snow, sticking to the grass and very white out.  WTH - this is VA and October.

Sam!  Chin up!  5 1/2 hours, 30 miles, with rain turning to sleet.  uh, sounds like you were pretty tough to me!  Have fun and enjoy the Halloween party.

There is a difference between hypothermia and being tough mentally....  mental toughness was getting out there in the first place and running 30 miles...  you're a winner for just lacing them up today..

thanks guys!  :-)  And I was thinking about Doug out there.  I really felt bad for him.  I hope he only had to deal with cold but I was thinking that swim - bike transition would be terrible.

Hello MG. I am home from my half. The weather easily made it the hardest tri I have ever done! Very little rain was the good part. Temps were cold, but the worst part was the winds 10-20 mph and it really was near the 29 mark. Lots of chop and current on the swim. Head winds on the second half of the bike.

I hurt in SO many places. I have raw skin in 7-8 spots and one in particular made my shower intensly painful! Will post a full report when the results are in. I will say that people were driving away as I started the 2nd loop of the run and the transition area was semi disassembled when I had finished.

TIRED...

I can chime in here...I raced with Doug today.  The swim was cold, but worse was the strength of the current.  I swallowed a ton of water, and actually got hit in the face with a wave that knocked my goggles off.  Heard from a spectator that several people were pulled from the swim.

The bike had headwinds like crazy.  Very tough 56 miles.

The run was cold.  I really think the temp was dropping.

No one stayed around for awards it was too cold.  I got mine and left.  Took quite a while to warm up on the way home.

IMFL is suppose to be nice next week for our folks toeing the line there

Wow!! Congratulations to Sam, Doug, and Linda, the popsicle racers!! Yikes!! Looking forward to reading more about the races. You said you took you award and ran, Linda... So you podiumed in your AG! Awesome!! Tell us more!!

Sam -- do not be hard on yourself one bit. Holy Toledo!! You did more than a marathon out there in less-than-ideal conditions!! You KNOW if the day were more cooperative you would have done all you set out to do. You are amazing and in territory far and beyond anything I could ever mentally (or physically!) endure!!!

Results have been posted so I will get to work on a RR. Turns out I was 2nd in my AG. Linda won her AG, but I do not think that counts because she wS THIRD femal OVERALL! If not for a cramp on the run she probably would have been 2nd!

She really does ROCK!

Nice work to both of you in completing an epic event.  Sounds like your mental toughness rose a few notches.

Linda, you are Ms. Humble.  3rd OA with a swim pace I could only dream about.  Awesome stuff.

Sam, you were mentally tough today. You got out there and perservered for well over 5 hours.  Remember that come race day.  It will serve you well.

Did another spontaneous run event today.  I have to say I am really enjoying them.  This is the first Fall that I haven't been injured in three seasons.  What a joy.

Here is my RR

Thanks for the comments. BTW thinking of having to tell the MG that I chose to DNF kept me from doing that.

I saw Linda's intense face at this race. No smile just hard-core focus! Of cours it was only as we passed going opposite directions as she was way ahead of me!

Great efforts in difficult conditions everyone, seems weird hearing about icy winds and snow when it was so hot here today!

Noosa was a great race, huge number of bikes in transition and sporty people all over town (instead of the usual fat tourists!).

My cycle leg was slow and I just didn't have any kick in the run but I finished it and my knee behaved itself so I'm back in the game!!!

I was about 30 seconds slower than my last Oly which was disappointing at first but then I remebered that it was only a few weeks ago that I couldn't run.

Very warm and humid 30 deg (Celcius) day and water temp was 24 deg so no wetsuits.

Anyway, finished in 2:52 (swim 29, bike and T1/2 1:29, run 53:44),RR to come...
