IMO, two very important things for off season. sounds like that is going very well. I gained around 7-10 pounds and was glad to see some fitness go. now, off season is almost over, so get your chubby in gear.... Mike I just looked at your logs. You have fitness loss? yes sir. tough to see as I as last year was my first year, so wasnt much to lose... sept 13th was my last race, didnt run at all for 3 weeks after that, biking was down to 40 miles per week for a little. right now I am making huge strides in the pool, but again, I've only been swimming one year as of this month, so its hard to see. I've done nothing over Zone 2 for 3 months, except for 1 hill repeat per week on the bike. Runs have all been zone 1, with very little Z2. everything right now is slow and steady...... basically, if you charted out my fitness, i'm most certianly in a trough right now, but still higher than I was 8-9 months ago. peaks and troughs....fitness, very much like the stock market.,.... Swim--Starting 2/3's of the way to the right was money. Perfect spot for me. Not much contact and i slowly cut in over the distance to the first turn around. When else do you get to swim in this insanity of people everywhere??? Have you seen the pictures?!! It's really great if you have the right attitude. Be confident and own your space. Bike--hardest part of the bike for me is the climb from Jay to Haselton. Mainly b/c it just seems like it takes forever to get to the out & back. Most fun part, Keene descent. It's so badazz. Don't be scared, just have fun. Basically what i want to do differently with training this year is bike & run on harder routes. I was very nervous about the next day's training, so I often picked kinda flatish routes. This year I'm going to pick harder ones. (Like Black Mo'. Fred, James, one day we're biking Black Mo and the next day we're running it. How ya like them apples?!!!! Tasr, you're close enough you could bike here. I heard Rick is driving up for it, carpooling w/ JoshKaptur, Jorge is driving down, DC is coming from Long Island?? (not far at all DC) & is picking up LazyMarathoner on the way, Dan is flying up from Atlanta, pretty sure we can get Jazz, Yeats, Coredump & Whizzzz, Bryan...AZ is a stretch, your call, and to complete our trip all we need is our drunk unc & swishy!!!) Totally!! As long as Cody bear can come She can herd your kids around for you Wanna come down to Delaware and ride with us this week?? OK, so when is this mega-training ride/run in PA happenin'? |

Is this everyone from BT who's racing IMLP? That's quite a list. Are we taking over a bar or something that weekend? |

I've seen it here and read it in blogs.... Jorge leads a training camp up in LP on the course. June 17-20. It's a chance to train on the course in a different way than if you had just gone up on your own. Plus, it's fun to be a with a group. Ohh, this was one of the questions I was just about to post, whether there was any kind of planned pre-race training camp/weekend. Advance knowledge of the course before race weekend would be good. Fewer surprises on race day. Though the logistics of getting the bike to and fro might be a little tough for us mid-westerners. Plus I need to check the dates of my other events in June.... hmmmm..... |

Coach 10487 Boston, MA | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread I posted this on my blog: According to Google Earth there are 5063 miles between Boston and Kona. Taking that # and subtracting 140.6 miles from IMLP it means I need to cover around 4922 miles in training. That works around 95mi running, 500mi biking and 30K yds swimming per month that I need to cover between now and July 24th to earn my ticket to the big island. I might need to ride/run less or more since I don’t know when I’ll be able to start swimming but just for fun I am going to try to make that a goal; to cover 4922+ miles over the next 7 months... |
