Uh, yeah!!! The best kind of race!!!

I raced yesterday

But am also racing on Sunday night. It's actually going to be the worst kind of race. It's called the milk mile and it's just like it sounds. Drink a glass of milk, run a lap x 4 and there is a hefty penalty for puking.

Hooray for winery tour. I have an Oly on Sunday.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend...or at least trying to pace themselves through winery tours...

Backing of the biking distance tomorrow and will ride about 60ish really hard.  The guys I'm riding with are doing IM Switzerland or Vineman Full at the end of the month so they're winding down the volume but wanted to keep the intensity at this point.  I've got a local Oly the same day so this also works perfectly for me to get in a hard long ride.  I'm going to shoot for about 235 watts and just see what happens...LOL.

Good luck to all the drinkers racers this weekend!

I have an IM sim day, 6:00 ride :40 run.  Hopefully dealing with the last little bit of saddle shopping.   Rode last weekend in tri bibs, which I plan to do on race day, and if I have any hope of being in aero, need to find some pressure relief in the , well, area.  Picked up a sitero last weekend, rode on teh trainer for 1:20 and 1:10, including today in tri shorts and no de soto seat pad.  Seems good so far, or as good as sitting on a saddle is gonna feel.  Tomorrow will tell...   debating whether to wear tri or road shorts tomorrow, and ultimately in the IM.

In other news, Oceanside 2014 sold out, early July!   That's at least 2 months faster than normal.   No idea why the sudden surge in popularity.  I was on the fence anyway, but didn't register so looks like I'll be trying something new next spring!

Yeah, I saw your Oceanside thread on ST and let some of my friends know on FB since they were considering it.  A couple of them already registered, but a few didn't and were a bit bummed.

As tris continue to grow, I'm wondering if we are starting to see the day where more and more 70.3's will start selling out a year in advance.  Maybe not within hours or minutes...but at least to the point where you need to commit 10+ months in advance.  I think most people would agree that if they had the choice, signing up about 4-6 months in advance would be ideal.  It at least give you a chance to evalutate if you have the proper base and can handle the 12-20 week training program you would want to do.

O side used to sell out fairly quckly, then went sorta dormant.  Early season, cold water, cold weather, etc.  just last year I signed up the last week of august or so and then it sold out sometime after that.  So much for WTC's horrible business sense

She should send the bike here, I'll talk to it.  Good luck to both of you, and all the other racers this weekend.  Bet you all feel better then I will the next day.

While I'm not exactly sure what size bike you ride, I'm guessing it wouldn't fit.  It's a size 58 and I think I would need a ladder to get on it.

You are going to have an interesting day and recovery. :-)

Those are nice looking bikes, and they look good together.

My race is going to be interesting, I think. We have thunderstorms in the forecast for Sunday morning. I hope I don't end up with another cancelled swim.

Wow -lots of racing going on in the group - awesome! Good luck, everyone - cant wait to read all about it. I am kinda like Chris for tomorrow: not exactly an IM simulation, but we do have our last brick before Lake Placid tomorrow. For me it is 4.5 hours riding in the mountains (I am guessing maybe 72 miles @7500' climbing) followed by 6x2 mile repeats. Woot.

Oh, and for what it is worth Salty if it were a beer mile my money would be on you. But a milk mile? You don't stand a chance.... Def need pics and video!

It actually went really well.  Warmed up for about 8 miles then turned it on for the last 50ish.  Managed 234 NP and finished strong.  I've got a modified Oly at the end of the month (750m/40k/10k) and I was hoping to shoot for around 240ish.  This ride gave me some confidence that's very possible.

That's the first thing I noticed...there is no way I could ride either of your bikes.

Arend, nice looking bikes. Hopefully your wife learns to love full aero and her tri-bike again soon. And I ride a 58. No one ever asks to borrow my bike.

104 miles (on a new saddle) with 7,000 feet of elevation (and the ride included about 35 miles of pancake flat so the climbing was concentrated ) :40 run off the bike. Think the bike pacing was good as the run went well. Will need to concentrate on running slower off the bike. ( that sounds kinda douchey but I am not running that fast. ). That was a long day. Had to drive about an hour away to get the right bike profile

I have to go at least that far to get any sort of profile.

Way to kill it, Matt - that is a great set of distances, BTW - looks like it is tilted just a bit toward the fishes - you dont see that very often. I like races that require you to swim well, and you obviously do!

Call me lame or an idiot, but I just bought a Frogg Toggs Chill Towel that they have on the infomercials.  They had a demo at Bed Bath and Beyond and it actually works a lot better (cooler) than I thought it would.  I'm still not sure if it's just a rebranded car chamois, but I may give this a try for the IM run.  If not, it still seems like something great to have while golfing.

The off-season is the best time to fine tune your skills and prepare yourself for the next season. It is also time for you to gain some strength and get a little rest after a long season of training.

If you develop a strategy for the off-season, you can go into the next season stronger than you ended the past season.
