Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2019 Edition - Practice Maximum Enthusiasm - CLOSED Originally posted by jmkizer One SUV type vehicle would work as well. I bet we could find 4 manatees. My DH would drive for sure.Originally posted by ceilidh Looky, a new, one-day relay event!http://gloryhoundevents.com/glory-hound-events-announces-the-inaugural-land-and-sky-relay/ I saw that! One long day (if we averaged 12 minute miles, it would be almost 13 hours), but no overnight so that's good. Plus - we need four Manatees + Driver Minus - we need a van (or maybe two cars and two drivers?)

Master 4452 | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2019 Edition - Practice Maximum Enthusiasm - CLOSED Well. This is what happens when we brag about our warm sunny weather. We have gotten close to a foot of snow in the past few days. Saturday I was running with my training partner in 50+km/hr winds (bent over at 45 degree angle going-as-hard-as-you-can-but-still-can't-hit-the-pace-epic). I am on a snow day today from work; it is supposed to let up later so expect to be back tomorrow. Public schools were all closed yesterday and today. We just don't have the infrastructure/equipment to deal with this because it happens so rarely. Lots of people hate it, but I kinda like it. I am close enough to walk to the Skytrain (our 'subway') and can get pretty much where ever I need to go that way, so don't have to worry about driving. My poor little 10lb Seraphina gets lost, but the other 3 dogs love it. I have to shovel the lawn so Seraphina will go potty . Hope everyone is doing well out there in Manatee land! |

So you're in then, right? Sure... I'm not confident I could manage 12 min miles on some of those legs though Minimum of 12 min/miles - is it on the page somewhere or did you do math? Yeah, this Pokey Pete can handle <12 on flat/rolling but can't necessarily be counted on to hit that on later legs/hard sections. |

Yeah, this Pokey Pete can handle The thing to remember is that the team as a whole needs to average that, not each individual runner. We'd just need to create a team or two that can achieve this. Also remember that this is on roads so it's elevation without trail running obstacles. |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2019 Edition - Practice Maximum Enthusiasm - CLOSED Manatees!!! How about this for a meetup instead of the Florida relay. The location is great, it is only one day, We already have 2 drivers (me and my hubster) and probably our cars as well so that is taken care of. Cherokee and Asheville both have tons of things to do: There is wonderful Mountain biking, Paddling, hiking, restaurants, breweries, AND I can accommodate folks here for free, for at least the night before the race. (We have 3 rooms, a sleeper-sofa room, and 3 baths for folks). Rooms in Cherokee would be good for the end of the race since our place is about 2 hours from there. Land and Sky Relay (Asheville to Cherokee) LETS Have a show of Hands... Who is interested? |

One of my favorite things to do in summer is kayak or tube down the river, stopping at breweries. November would NOT be a good time to do that, though. Edited by ceilidh 2019-02-14 1:06 PM |
