So how long does road rash take to heal?

...

Mine "healed" but I still have a giant birthmark-looking thing still and prolly will always.  I guess it depends on how big, how bad, how deep, etc.

With mine - the circular patch where the rash was just turned darker than the rest.  No biggie.  It took about 3 weeks total, which is pretty fast since my immune system is depressed by medication and I usually don't heal quickly.  I used burn cream and patches for the first week to help re-build the skin foundation (my doc told me to do it).

ETA - Two toppages pre 9AM today.

I don't think it is too bad, it is just annoying.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=10156&photoid=82469

it will scar less if you keep it covered - put antibiotic ointment on and tefla (non stick gauze). and absolutely positively keep it out of the sun until fully healed (not pink anymore)

yep put stuff on it yesterday covered with pads and wrapped it up.  Cleaned it again this AM and did the same.  The antiseptic stung like hell, was jumping around trying not to put my fist through the wall while it was working.

When I rode my Mtn bike I fell all the time but that was just bruises, first time with road rash.

the easiest and least painful way to clean it is use saline - or just soak in the bath tub and gently wash with a washcloth.  It will take the icky stuff (medical term) off leaving the healthy healing tissue.

then cover as you have been

Thanks.

Funny difference between boys and girls.  My 2 year old daugter looked at it got real close and said "oh dear,  daddy big boo-boo" then gave me a hug.

My 4 year old son looked at it and said "cool red colors..."

hey... so tuesday night, we hosted a group of pastors from my synod (geographical grouping of congregations) who are going to ride around the country on a bike made for three... out of bamboo!  THey were doing a shake down ride to see how the bike would hold up... I put some pics on my congregation's blog ... you can check them out... if you'd like. I even got to ride a little on it...very interesting, a bike built for three...

So, I met this dude this morning that has a toybox (garage) that puts mine to absolute shame. Turns out, back in the late 80's... they started mining some kind of sand in Kentucky and Tennessee. They ended up getting a contract with 3M, selling them all the sand they use for their sandpaper. Made frickin millions. NOW, they're mining for borite (?)...which is used to drill super deep mines for natural gas and stuff. Again, making millions upon millions.

So anyway, this guy is in his early 40's, and one of our owners told him I was toy junkie as well, so he says 'Jump in my truck, I have something I wanna show you.) Well, his truck is a brand new F350 super duty, lifted up with huge tires etc. (Super redneck, but still). We start down the road and he hammers the gas, breaking the back tires loose, with white smoke ROLLING off of them. He looks at me with a smile and says "600 horsepower." Sheesh. So I thought that's what he was showing me. Not quite. About a 10 min ride later, he pulls off and up a little lane to this HUGE garage. We go inside, and I almost fainted. You name it, he has it. Sportbikes, snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, jet skis, stretched choppers, Harley's, old restored muscle cars, freaking tractor trailers, with the roofs chopped, and lowered, with hardwood floors, leather, etc., and freaking FIVE MORE F350's almost exactly like the one he was driving!!?!?!?! Um... I was speechless. I'm not talking one of each. There were several of each thing. As we started walking through I said "Dude, why do you need 6 trucks?" He said "Well, when I want to go mudding or to a truck pull or something, I want my friends to go... and they can't afford to buy this stuff." Same with everything else. Several of everything so he friends can go, too. Unbelievable.

He owns a custom chopper shop, a Bourgette dealer, just for fun. He said he has only been there about 6 times in the past year because he's so busy. He said he wants to buy a personal jet... but doesn't have time to learn how to fly it.

My shop with a dirtbike, sportbike, and jet ski in it... is suddenly disappointing. haha.

Someone has a new BFF.......

That does seem like a lot.  Also the mile of offroad trail in the woods.  They say they will have plenty of volunteers, let us hope so.  Not so thrilled about the offroad bit myself, or the gravel for that matter.  Personally I think they should have tried to change the stinking course 2 or 3 months ago, but that's just me.
